There is a topic here *somewhere*
Only five pages back, actually. For me, anyway, at this moment in time.

Hey, cremation thing. Not as odd as True's, but m'grandparents recently bought a house from someone that wanted to move further south, needed some seed money to get set up... turns out, the lady that was living there kinda' forgot her uncle. Urn or whathaveyou was just sitting out in an outbuilding, pretty as you please.

Now, lady actually had several other relatives ashes laying around, but she remembered those. Just... not the uncle. Poor dead guy.

So, what I'm wondering is: What kind of scouting options? More precisely: Will tele operated rockets be a thing? How viable is a sort of echolocation, i.e. lob artillery at it and see what scurries out, strategy (explosolocation)? Stuff like that. Will there be methods to scout from a couple of hills over and maybe nab a pentakill in the process?

Because that's what I want to do. I want to scout so vehemently the bouncing MAXes look like a roborgy.

It's different. Not sure about worse quality. You can do some things with steamed rice you can't really do with boiled, and the same the other way around.

Still. Steamed rice can be good, too.

Everything.

I usually boil it when I don't nuke it, though. No rice cooker, too uninterested in figuring out how to jury-rig steaming with pots and pans and junk.

Why limit self to just one?

Mostly long grain, though, and mostly transitioning toward primarily brown. It's generally less expensive around here than short grain, hence the bias.

Still. Eat both happily. Short makes for interesting variance, and I do very much like it, but long's used more culturally here, usually, so it's easier to get.

Probably should nab some short next time I go shopping, though. Variety!

I have in fact never wondered that. I have seen cafeteria "food" bend forks. I have't thought of public school cafeteria food as edible in... over a decade? More accurately, I didn't even know that. Which government, and why?

Anyway, they totally had rice in th'collage cafeteria occasionally. Was pretty low qual stuff (as in, I've bought better for less than a nickel to the measurement unit), but it was there.

Probably not the only one. There's gotta' be, like, two of you. Somewhere.

But yeah. Cheap, filling enough, goes well with a lot of stuff. Like potatoes. Rice is my other potato.

Ahaha, I've read that one. Unless there's more than one with that plot line, anyway. Is good ZnT xover! Pleasing read.

E: Yes, Unfamiliar. Facehugger has another decent fic or two, iirc. Also see spacebattles is letting guests browse again, which is happy thread content for Frumple.

E2: Also see unfamiliar hasn't been updated since last time I read it. Less happy. Infinite Patience Powers, activate! Form of: Still Waiting For Next Eldritch Asylum Chapter!

Oh... yeah, I've (regularly) mixed rice with pretty much everything else I eat. This particular batch was jasmine rice mixed with eggs, and about 3/4ths flavored with cheese and some leftover ramen flavoring -- rest was put aside in case someone wanted some plainer stuff. Breakfast rice is rice with eggs, bacon, and cheese added, but no one was interested in eating the rice so the bacon didn't get mixed in. Along with whatever else I feel like, heh.

I generally eat on about two USD per day (little more if I'm adding stuff beyond whatever the base is), less if I'm particularly desperate or particularly inactive that day. Maybe offset a little by the vitamins (I really need to get some more of :-\) I try to keep up with to offset the malnutrition risk eating mostly grain entails.

It's a side thng, but eating out often drives me a little crazy. I see a five dollar meal and think "I can eat for three days for that price." S'nice not to have to deal with preparation and taste something different, but it's still something my brain can't stand to do more than once or twice a month, max. More than that and it starts bothering me.

Outsourcing, brethren, outsourcing. Seems like a fair amount like to do that for calling stuff, for some reason. Yes, it makes no sense. Attribute their decision (that I'm totally making up!) to spite, sadism, or perverse-minded obfuscation.

25632
They're obviously on a different timezone. Which one? Whichever one means they don't have to take your call.

That would actually be kinda' brilliant. Have it track time zone being called from, and automatically route it to a call center in a different timezone. A call center that is closed during those hours.

Minor sad, minor sad. Primary cook person in house said cook "lots" of rice, when queried as to how much would be good idea for company.

Turned out I was the only person interested in eating rice. Which I'll probably be eating for the next two-three days. Not really a bad thing, per se, but I wasn't expecting to cook breakfast for people and end up cooking my full diet for the next few sunrises :-\

Vanu won the vote, NC apparently won the max-whatsit aesthetics contest, leading the threadmaker to unilaterally decide NC for the second poll thing. No love for the ninjacrab.

25635
Ninjacrab and Terranblue ones looks best t'me. Red'un's kinda'... dunno. Those things on its back does it no favors. My preference for Vanu continues :P
