Which... is kinda' what I said? I didn't explicitly say you were for it to begin with -- I said that, to wit,

Reminding people that America is a place where rape is considered an acceptable punishment for fraud really doesn't make us look any better :-\

And, as said, I didn't say you want it. You just said you don't want it. You said it's not a bad thing -- that, specifically, it's an acceptable thing (regardless of how immoral it is) -- that it happens to criminals. I'm agreeing with you that that is exactly how the American population in aggregate believes -- and that it doesn't exactly shine us in the best of lights.

Which... yeah. Some international condemnation of the hellhole we've made our prison system might help some. Higher awareness of exactly how badly we're fucking things up might help us fix things up a bit, too. M'all for that.

We lock people up in tiny concrete rooms with other people who may or may not be violent, giving them all nothing but the basic supplies to stay alive, for years and years and years.

But we don't think it's bad to do that to people who are actually criminals.

It's a pretty explicit statement. You can't really say we support that and then say you're against prison rape -- the situation leads to the act, to a large degree.

Even without that. Assault, beatings, etc. -- your statement explicitly states that it's not bad that a non-violent offender be confined with individuals that will in all likelyhood attack them, quite possibly repeatedly.

Now, you could say you're for incarceration, but not for excessively unsupervised incarceration where things like that are allowed to happen -- that would be fine, and I'm a lot less troubled by that position (though I still have issues with it, they're more axiomatic issues than actual functional ones). But, that's not the American prison system, and it's not what our society is largely not bothered by.

Which, hell, might not have been what you were trying for. It's a fair shake to remind folks outside of the states that we're amoral bastards in general when it comes to certain issues, I guess. Anything to help push toward some degree of change for th'fact that our prison system is one of the worst human rights violations/injustices in the first world.

Yeah, no.

If you own a tower, you owe it to yourself to have a discrete graphics card in there.
Not actually my box! Nor did I have any input in the purchase, which happened years ago. Just the only computer I have access to right now. There's zero chance I get money invested in this thing, because the primary users have absolutely no use for anything better.

Which was why ask before spend, yeh.

Right now I'm able to run Star Ruler with most things cranked down (at least so far), which is about the only equivalent piece of software I have -- but checking the system reqs, SR's are considerably lower. SOTSII's reqs are completely beyond this rig, and Ak's is noticeably stronger :-\. It's one of these: Two gigs ram, 2.2 ghz dual core, 286 (???) video mem according to Dxdiag. Heaviest thing I can notice in the steam library this thing can run is either HoMMV (barely) or Heroes of Annihilated Empires, which, again, are listed lower.

M'gonna' tentatively predict "No" and sigh, I guess. New computer in future, maybe. Thanks for the replies!

Still. Game looks nice. Will keep eye on, maybe be stronger sale in future can whittle away little money for likely non-working game (Investment!).

So... question. Is there any way to system test this thing before purchase right now? Between this thread and scoping a few videos I'm pretty tempted, especially with the sale going on, but it'd be fairly meaningless to do that and then be completely unable to run it now and in perpetuity.

So... demo? Something equivalent so I'd know if the thing would at least run? System specs looks like I could probably manage things on whatever equates to low (CPU's a little weak, but I've ran worse), but I've had a number of things that looked like that and just didn't function :-\

It keeps coming up for some reason:
Conjecture: Because we have a fairly noticeable not!American forum population and the American attitude re: the subject doesn't fly quite so easily in other parts of the world. But! The subject is so damn violently charged on the political scene in the states we get prickly about it.

I could probably get into something about how increasingly fucked up the justice system and concepts involved therein are over here,* but it probably wouldn't move the discussion to anywhere better so eh.

Damnit brain, a cute child of indeterminate racial origin mangling "Let's Play" into "Tesla" should not end up with a graphic depiction of said child cutting off one of my fingers from the first knuckle with a pair of scissors while its parental figure laughs and encourages him. I just wanted to buy my awesome little bastardization of Times magazine crossed with national geographic and a pocket dictionary detailing the repercussions of technological superiority on national level military and political history. It was tiny and cute and yellow and had a neat looking alt-world europe atlas picture thing and then there was blood everywhere and things were no longer happy.

I'm beginning to think even mild caffeine consumption is bad for my dreams. Yesterday had some kind of witch/troll/hag/ghost thing at the wakeup point. Nae fun.

Patch successfully applied! I can now play Super Robot Wars without needing the assistance of Google Translate :D
Ahaha, the first step in a long path. Soon, you'll have major translation sites RSS'd and possess a near encyclopedia knowledge of fan translated video games. That day will be a good day.

And then Janet's fiancee was a multistory angel clone.

Totally called it. Didn't actually call it.

Is good addition, though. Fits with the sixteen genders and the wasps. I will not say orgy altar is best altar, but definitely in top, say, three. Not sure what other top two are.

Am totally curious what else they're going to add, though. Guessing at least one bug, but beyond that...?

Want race of cousin Its. Hair everywhere. Skittles beard as potential action. Would be best thing.

Y'know. If you were going for more of a horror route. Could have the things reproduce like wasps. Sans any potentially nice bits.

No blood, no. Just birdmaggots writhing under the still living skin.

My god, it's full of stars~

Most of the older console emulators will probably run, if you can provide the stuff to run with them, though legitimately doing that with anything but the CD based ones is beyond my technical capabilities.

Lot of older games can manage that, too. I mean... a lot. A whole lot. Just gander at anything pre-2k, it'd probably run. Lot of good stuff in that range, too.

They could have sixteen genders, and our lack of knowledge would be a precious gift. Alien physiology! Cast off your terracentrist ways!
