Earth meld can break the challenge, but if you refrain from that things can still jump you occasionally.

Though standard diff isn't that bad, really. Neither is challenge, t'be honest, but it gets interesting in the below dlvl ten stage. Now, nightmare? Nightmare's a bit rough.

All I know is, y'know, aliens. There's no reason to assume they only have two genders (or have two genders at all *eyebrow waggle*) or that they don't reproduce by pollination or something.

Totally would increase my appreciation if they do something like that, actually. I like it when things cast off the anthropocentric bias a bit. Spices stuff up.

Yup. The mektek thing mentioned earlier in the thread.

Didn't one or both of the mech commanders go free at some point, too?

Huh, why the dagger? Grapple-fight capable? If you're going for a backup throwing weapon, I generally suggest chakrams or boomerangs for that, m'self -- more damage and a chance to come back t'yeh.

And yeah, Resilience is pretty incredible, just quite difficult to meet the reqs for and expensive. If you want an easier and feat cheaper method of regular HP restoration, drop a level into priest -- preferably a Zurvash priest with the pain domain. You gain damage/10 hp from everything you hit... and it stacks with vampiric weapons. It is delicious, and Zurvash is incredibly easy to deal with for most melee builds. Two more levels into that zurvash priest can grab fatigue regeneration via the passion domain, too. Of course, grabbing resilience on top of that... heeheehee.

But yeah... sword/board melee fighter is incredibly viable, you end up ridiculously hard to kill. The right shield (Mithril/elven) and you can even have drastically reduced or nonexistent armor penalties from it, knocking off the shield's biggest disadvantage.

Protip, by the way -- if a piece of armor has no armor penalties, it does not cause spellcasting penalties, period. If you can get half-plate to 0 (Which, iirc, is possible with the right enchants/material), a mage can wear it without even caring. In regard to shields, it means that a buckler is actually the go-to mainhand weapon for most casters; you're not going to be meleeing much, if at all, and the defense boost from a good shield, even a buckler, is considerable. Just make sure it's ironwood if you're a druid. Smaller races need it to be mithril or elven to pull off, but the medium ones can generally wear any of 'em (Except orcish, iirc.).

Incidentally, enchanted shields can, in fact, hit ethereal and similar enemies. I've bashed a few things to death with m'shield when I didn't have a weapon that could hit it :P Bloody slow shadows.

Okay, I think adventure time may have just gained a convert. Ep I just watched was apparently what happens when someone animates a gender bent Mary-sue fanfic -- quite literally. It was... it was great. Just great. It even had the vague slash overtone!

Also the first time I've ever actually heard someone say fan fiction in non-Internet media. I laughed, quite hard. Was actually expending rabbithat dude to be trippin' balls right up until the end. Good plot twist :P

Re: PS, it happened repeatedly throughout the beach scene till the start of that fight where cash-in went and threw the innard party in front of the extremelolibot. In that area. First time was kind of a backflip thing or... something, don't quite remember, but a bit after that was a bloody series of the things.

As for DW, the anime's first ep matches the manga pretty well, was good. Didn't like the voice actors, mostly, but dub is dub eh. Still. Fairly true to the art style, setting, etc. Little more melodramatic than I remember the manga being but that may be because of ginta's voice actor :P The post-conviction yelling made me groan, and not in a good way. Also totally not how I imagined the prison headmaster wuzzit to sound like. Not nearly cheerful enough, though the lines and the expression are pretty down pat. Will have to see what future holds.

Huh. Slipped down to page three pretty quick, I guess. Though you might be intending something a little more general, I'unno.

Ahahaha what the hell panty shot. I was totally expecting it but it was still a bit of a sideswipe.

So far it's got a very old school made new school vibe. Which I'm totally digging for all I have no bloody idea what's going on.

How would the robots eat the guy, anyway? No mouth-equivalent!

Is fairly interesting choice. Only thing that's really annoying me about it is that I've already read most of the manga available in English so it's, uh... not very new t'me, despite moving around. Kinda' like the anime adaption so far, though, and it's definitely true to the manga in the first ep, at least. Which bodes well, manga's got some damn good lines. Except the voice actors, for all that they kinda' fit. But meh-ish dubs innit exactly unusual :P

This cash-in thing I have't been exposed to before, though.

Straight to the links! The gameboy one's supposed to be pretty weak, though. Being the first and all that, heh.

I'd personally suggest GDA just for the resists, especially if you're aiming for zot. The extra pip of rFire will probably save yer arse.

Yeah, romhacking.net is the larger compendium for older game translations, which is why I linked it ;D

AGTP cross releases all their stuff over there, heh. Iirc, Gideon Zhi, AGTP's main public figure, has a major hand in moderation or maintenance or something for romhacking.net. It's a good place to keep an eye on if you want to pick up news of most translation releases, really.

But yah, AGTP's release list is largely like a rolling parade of win and rainbows and puppies and stuff. Major quality comes from there.

Yeah... being totally fair to Mabi, it's not pay to win so much as pay to enjoy -- not investing money simple massively inflates the amount of time and/or effort you have to spend to do certain things (primarily re: travel and inventory juggling), not provide any actual mechanic advantage (well, barring that pet cheese stuff :-\). It's an enjoyable game when you're not spending a quarter hour or more to walk your way to a particular town and spending a sixth of your game time wrangling your backpack, but violently poorly designed without the addition of mounts and expanded inventory.

It's nice enough with some friends, though, and from what I understand not really that bad as MMOs go. Still. When I think bearable f2p scheme's, Mabi's not what I think about, just not the worst of the lot. Not sure how its methods would be able to apply to a FPS, though. Disallowing some sort of fast transport (teleporter, orbital drop), maybe.

VS is my initial leaning, assuming I have a computer capable of running PS2 before its servers close. Purple and hover tanks and lasers, what the hell else do I need?

Well, artillery. I'd go with whatever side has the best artillery, too, if VS didn't work out. I can't even aim artillery worth a shit in FPSes (tribes taught me this) but I don't care. Get big enough blast radius, even misses kill people.
