Oh hey, new federal holiday. Juneteenth has official federal recognition, now. Slid through congress remarkably quickly, too, with all of 14 asshats voting against it (no prizes for guessing the political alignment of 'em), all in the house.

... wait, giant land snail, the invasive species that's illegal to sell in multiple countries?

Unrelated, bed was easier to get out of! First time in a while I've hurt less getting out of bed than when I got in it. It's nice.

Dunno about a specialized utility, but you might be able to kludge something using either a spreadsheet or something like notepad++ and regular expressions. I'm pretty sure it's possible with the latter in particular, but the exact formatting to do it is way beyond my level of expertise with regex. Slightly less sure you could work something with spreadsheet formulas, but I think it's possible there, too.

Dunno yet, I'll find out in the morning. Either'd be fine :P

In other news, today I learned you can overdose on nutmeg. Don't think I'd ever heard about the hallucinatory side of the stuff before...

Near as I could tell from a quick look, the specific ingredient was azodicarbonamide, whatever that's used for, which beyond subway and shoes was being used all over the place and supposedly safe for human consumption. Didn't look too hard, though.

E: A&W restaurants are apparently still using it in their burger buns, for what it's worth, heh. Dunno if I've ever even seen one of those in person...

not-massively-processed meal

I don't think this is even remotely true but I'll leave you to it.

Once I found out Subway used a rubber vulcanizing agent on their bread, I swore it off forever. They stopped doing that when the news broke, but if they were willing to do that with their bread.....can guarantee they've done all sorts of other things with their products. So I'd pretty much rather go hungry and put Subway in my body.
Wasn't that stuff in like a ton of things, including little debbie junk and most bread loafs? May still be, I'unno...

Lot of it, yeah. There's pretty major housing buy ins going on with large businesses and whatnot right now. Some of it's with intent to rent, some for other reasons.

It's doing pretty fucking terrible things to the housing market for actual people that want to live in the house they're buying.

Mattress in, old mattress out. Needs to sit for a bit 'cause it was wrapped up, but.

Old mattress out.

You ever sleep on a spring mattress older than you are? About as old as your mother? Better than forty years old? I've been doing that these last few years.

It put holes in some of my bedclothes, from where the springs broke through the cover and caught on cloth. Sleeping on it hurt, in several different ways.

Now it's gone! Ain't gon' sleep on it no more. Goddamn relief, one way or another. Even if the new mattress isn't great, it's going to have to bust out a shiv and try to gut me to be worse than what it's replacing.

e: done waiting, the 72 hours can fill in, it's had six

this is near about nope there's some there now enough to bring tears to my eyes

you can lay down in bed and it not hurt, holy shit ;_;

Plague test came back negative, at least! It's somethin'.

... not enough to completely nix worry 'cause I still remember the false negative rate being non-zero, but between that and vaccine and no symptoms, already fairly low worry is lower. Here's hoping the coworker survives, I guess...

Yeah, I'd miss hec, probably. Least a little.

If the forum's making your day worse, though, it's definitely time to take a break, at the absolute minimum from whatever part of the forum's causing it.

Depends on the where, probably? Monetary control folks in the US have been consistently undershooting healthy inflation numbers for a while now, iirc, so while the situation with inflation is kinda' bad, it's not bad in a way that would be making the numbers go up a lot. Least if I'm not misremembering things.
