General Discussion / Re: American Election Megathread

Huh. So we've got Santorum and Romney, who's going to pull something out for Gingrich and Paul?

It sounds like the sort of thing I would do, although I wouldn't, since both ponytails and their owners are cuter when not separated.
Truth, that's pretty creepy man.

Anyway, happy for the day
Sometimes fanfiction does wonderful things, hee.

I'm wondering, what merit does a gun license say in the US of A? If it isn't a declaration that you are sane with a clear criminal history, what is it for?
Varies by state, Max. Florida, ferex, doesn't even have one. Need a concealed carry license, sure, but no gun license.

To... to be honest, I don't even know how heirloom stuff is handled in this state, or to the extent paperwork is needed per gun if you own one. E: Apparently none at all. Whee! All I know is that if you own a gun while on probation (or are a felon), you're in fairly sizable trouble, heh.

But anyway, here. Questions answered :P

Max, he calls the state office, who do, or at least can contact whoever does. Not the person on the ground. There's usually a minimum wait (5-7 days, iirc?) involved with any firearm purchase.

Not every, but every legal one going through a shop that sells firearms, yes.

Second hard, etc, happen without gov' vetting. I'm not quite sure how auctioning and gunshow stuff goes down, though.

... half hour 'till midnight. Hungry. About to go cook nuke some chicken nuggets, and then baste them with syrup and honey. This makes me somewhat cheerful, for whatever reason.

Chicken flavored with syrup and honey is delicious.

E: Ended up going 5/5/5 syrup/honey/teriyaki sauce. Breakfast! ... well, breakfast if I don't finish eating in under ten minutes or so. Otherwise lunch.

Green policies are sort-sighted
Someone else'll tear the rest of it apart -- I just want to chime in and say this is possibly both the most hilarious and most hilariously wrong statement you've yet to make of this forum. If nothing else, you got a chuckle, so if that's what you're after, well, congrats, I guess.

woah Putin, thats the first strange article about you i ever seen, what happened?
Particularly strange because the article title seems to insinuate he was lauding thieves that haven't been dead for a while. Incidentally, I'm kinda' down with the whole "so the states weren't the sole nuclear power" thing. Sucks that so many countries have nuclear weaponry, but it's better than just one having it :-\ But really, s'just a kind of, "Hey, dude's praising people that helped out his side of the fight." thing. Shouldn't surprise anyone, heh.

Anyway, bit of odd one, but understandable considering from whence it came. On the other paw, it's probably time we drop this whole cold war thing. US is going to get reigned in soon* enough, sure, but it innit' gonna' be Russia that does it.

*Note historical time frame. Probably still be big dog during out lifetimes, unless someone in charge does something even-more-phenomenally-stupid-than-normal.

@True: They're not all that bad...

... then again, I don't have much exposure to that particular type of dying-monkey. But yeah, hell, they can't take it with 'em, and it's not like American culture these days is putting much emphasis on giving-a-shit-about-what-happens-next-Tuesdaygeneration. Why should they give flip?

I mean, besides the thousand and one obvious reasons that come from thinking about it for like fiiive seconds but who has the time and energy for that kind of exertion when you're old!? Not that you do when you're young or in between, either.

Whee... dominions is kinda' neat. Managed to get in I think... four? Four, co-op vs AI. One loss (My AD malz attempt got squished), three wins (Taric, Rammus, and a Kassadin -- the last two got stomped pretty hard, heh. Poor ram was 5/5/13 or something like that.). Biggest plus to the thing is that they're very quick, much quicker than the rift practice games I've been running.

That said. Anyone have any tips for dominion? It's rather odd :P
Biggest thing I'm struggling with conceptually, I think, is that the minions are almost entirely ignorable (and it seems to be openly detrimental to actually pay attention to them!). Any suggestions on ways to make them more of an issue for the enemy? And hero suggestions? I'm aiming for that Mordekaiser (I'm down with solid pusher, ha.) fellow, but it'll be a while before I get the IP for 'im (about 2500 to go :-\). Everything seems flimsier in dom than rift, though, at least compared to the rift practice games I've been running. Dunno what's up wit' that.

I'm not so sure that the memory of the average person back then was really any better than the memory of people now.
Nah, from what I've been told by folks that focus on that time period, the general recall was magnitudes greater than what most people can manage now. Can't remember if there was a (even remotely justifiable) why attached, but apparently the history we've got points to it. Now mind, that's second hand coming from me (Not my specialty, oi), but it's what I was told.

26443
Haha, not only is it familiar it's pretty damn true, from what we know of the memories of folks back in his time. Compared to the general memory retention of folks nowadays, there's absolutely no damn comparison. They were like bronzed memory adoni.

Of course, yeah, now us memory morlocks can just read what he said millennium back, but dude had a point.

*cat reading from hiding spot* "Ohshit, foodbringer knows!"

Obviously she knows you play Dwarf Fortress.
Cat wants you to recognize its internalized change of species to roof rabbit.

And maybe make some lovely rabbit stew.
