I'm happy today because it took only eight hours of writing bad fanfiction and absolutely nothing posted to finally understand why, precisely it isn't for me: it's an act of interpretation that requires so much of an inflexible adherence to other people's symbolic conventions and writing styles, not just that of the original author but also that of the fanfiction clans themselves, as well as other, more standard requirements, and real-world research that may conflict with all of the above.  Where normal writing permits more flexibility with information and style, the fanfiction author is heavily restricted on all fronts.
But, but...! You don't have to do any of that!

You just have to add an AU somewhere in the summary :P Maybe an OoC warning or two.

Gratsies on getting some creative mojo back, though.

first past the post system
So we fix that, ne? If the big boys did manage to tear themselves into pieces, we'd probably see a hell of a lot more support for a more proportional style or somethin'.

Suffer.

... wish I could give better advice, but I'm relatively pants with DotA. Denial bullshit (killing minions on your side when they're weak, to prevent the enemy from getting gold/XP), last hitting (Getting last hit in on weakened enemy minions, so you get gold), et al. Plus the million items and item combos. Just no good with parts of it.

Basically you kill little dudes for cash and occasionally kill bigger dudes for more cash and less big-dude on the map for a while. Eventually you knock all the buildings down and win, or have all your buildings knocked down and lose.

But expect to meet one of the worst online communities you've ever encountered, yeah. If there's a mute command, I recommend just muting everyone on both teams and playing like that.

E: At least if DotA 2 is anything like DotA... and according to this thread, all DotA2 is at the mo' is a graphics upgrade for DotA.

Mm... no, when I read over the thing (There's a full text of it available on one of th'gov's sites, iirc), there weren't exceptions mentioned for anyone. Everyone gets tracked by the ISP. Supposedly the only ones that can request the information is government agencies, but...

Ha. Ahahaha. Yeah.

Actually, if it's a 12 person game, do just that, but stagger the teams. 4/8 or 5/7, hallow/corruption.

Look at the comments section....
Why would you say that True? Why? I didn't need to start my day off with a rolling circlejerk of poe's law.

This one was particularly hilarious/frakked up

There's some kind of logical fallacy there I've forgotten the name of, I think. Take an obvious premise and then going to something completely off the wall. There's a name for that, iirc.

As for the first link, I love how blatantly deceptive that was. Completely misrepresenting what's actually happening; namely that the federal government is refusing to fund (in this case allowing ACA regulated insurance, I guess) organizations (of the sort in question) that refuse to provide contraception (and abortion, though that's a different case). There's no regulation or law that's preventing these anti-contraception groups from not providing contraception and still providing health care, they just can't do it and expect federal funding.

Which is kinda' the point; the gov's not supposed to be pissing money into the wind when it can avoid it (nevermind the reality). Contraception and abortion access have been full-stop proven to improve the general health situation of the areas it's provided. It'd be pretty damn stupid to continue funding organizations that try to push through practices that are (trivially easy to be) proven ineffective.

*This is also the case for all people I know.
Hullo, I'm a counterexample. Pleasure to meet you.

DLs from steam cap out on my max d/l (tends around 250-300 kb/s) pretty regularly. I've only very, very rarely seen a higher DL speed from filesharing sites or torrents. Usually they're lower. So your situation with steam isn't a universal ;)

... a reason is needed? That sounds like an axiomatic truth statement, to me. A burly little bear-man belongs in a halter top, short shorts, and heels. With find this truth to be self-evident, etc., so forth.

Rehabilitation is not a good thing!  That's like saying you went to the hospital after breaking your foot, you still broke your foot!
Um, yeah, the foot's broke. That's sad. Being able to go to the hospital for it is good news. That's (relatively) happy.

When you're badly injured (addicted, in this case), it's usually a really good idea to go get help. That your father was willing and able to go into rehab is a very, very good sign. Or at least the potential for a good sign, if he sticks with it (and the rehab center and support group they've got where you're at is a good one).

The period my own father was in rehab was one of great joy for the family -- and for that period and the period that he was clean, great joy for him, too. Alcohol addiction is a goddamn terrible thing.

My Dad checked himself into rehab this morning.  It's only way he'll be able to see his daughter and probably stop drinking.  He even told me he can't fall asleep unless he's drunk.  ;_;
That... isn't that great news?

Best of wishes to you, yeah. With any luck (and a great deal of effort on your father's part) he'll be able to kick the addiction and keep it kicked.

(Though if I were doing it, I'd probably define x = tcost, y = tsint, z = t^t)
I see cos, sin, and a little pyramid flipping everyone off. So edgy.
