I'd, uh. Well, we don't have any here.

And I think I'd like my skin, at least to the extent it's still there after the vigorous scrubbing. The surface stuff came off with very hot water and cloth rag scrubbing, it's just the bits that are like stuck in those little wrinkles along the knuckles and whatever that's left. I'm not really sure how I'd be able to get that out with a paint scraper or chisel without taking fairly sizable bits of flesh with it. Scraping with the fingernails seems to work a little, though!

Anyway not quite that violently annoyed by it. Almost, but not quite. Or at least I like my skin more than I hate the gunk. Barely.

Other Games / Re: Brogue, a great coffee breaker roguelike

Brogue's definite solid, for all that I don't really like it, heh. Not terribly enthused by the mostly equipment-based progression, mostly. Yes, it's an excellent design decision and no, there's not really any fundamental difference between equipment based progression and level/profession based progression, but it just doesn't tweak my jibblies, so to speak.

I still fire it up occasionally and die a few times, and I'd recommend it to anyone, but there's something about it that just doesn't click. Pretty but fluffless, well designed but doesn't draw me in. I like my classes and my spells and all that junk and I like what all that entails frontloaded instead of assembled as I go along, I guess. And background/lore is really nice, too. S'kinda' like how I don't really like Angband but I'm quite fond of, say, T2/Furyband or Steamband, I suppose.

It's just a very, very good roguelike I don't really like :P

Anyway, folks that like RLs should play Brogue. It's very impressive!

Grease. Frakking machine grease, or whatever the hell that encrusted black gunk is that accumulates on pieces of machinery. 5-6 minutes of solid scrubbing, hot water, cold water, two different kinds of soap, frakking dishwashing detergent, bloody 91% rubbing alcohol AND I STILL HAVE SPOTS OF GUNK ON MY HANDS!

I don't mind getting dirty, but I wargling hate staying that way and this shit won't get off. *incoherent rage*

I'm willing to eat now, at least, but the fact that some of that crap is still on me is just infuriating.

I'm sure there's more but these are just in this board.
Excellent, thank you! Incidentally, I'm marking that post and quoting it as soon as I see any other copyright/piracy discussions come up, at least if someone else doesn't beat me to it. Should help things along.

I have been at my most productive and least coherent (but still passing!) starting at 11 pm the night before something was due and going on 'till sunrise~

I recommend it for no one, though working early morning (i.e. midnight forward) can be pretty effective for some people, in particular situations. There's considerably less distractions, in most cases.

It's kinda' a shame it's rarely possible to really sink into the type of sleep cycle allows for that. Most of society innit' really set up for nocturnal or crepuscular sleeping patterns. I would have totally been down for 2 AM classes.

Could... could we take this discussion back to the copyright thread, or the "is piracy theft" one? They're like, probably less than a dozen pages back. Wouldn't even be much of a necro.

OP! This is why I suggested digging up those links! We've had these arguments dozens of times before, some of them fairly recently! Save us some time and frustration by just reminding people what's already been said!

... yeah. Yeah, pretty much.

It's usually nice enough to give us at least a week of 50-60F weather, though. THat... that's usually in like october or december, maybe january. Feburary now. I can hope, I can hope. Not going to happen.

Bright side, though! At least the nitwits in the area equating local climate shift to global warming can be shut up really easily this year. It's something :-\

I'm terrified this will be a snowless winter.
Ahahahaha, we haven't had snow since like '93. I'm not hoping for snow, it's not a thing that happens here. I just want a week where it stays below 70F. Honestly, at this point I'd be happy with one. Just... one. It hasn't happened yet, that I've noticed.

Florida's decided it's not even going to have the normal sham it calls winter, as near as I can tell. I can only imagine summer is going to be (even more of) an unholy hell (than normal).

26799
Six... more weeks of winter? I don't think we've had six weeks of winter where I'm at. There has not been a collective forty-two days of temperature below 70F yet.

... I'd like six weeks of winter. I'd really like six weeks of winter. What vile heathen god do you have to sacrifice to to get six weeks of winter? I'd like to chat this god up. We've got spare chickens.

Solitary confinement 23/7, nutraloaf, all day everyday. Lights on, all day everyday. Prisoners are not allowed to talk, except for vistors and thier lawyers.
I'll just go ahead and tell you this. One: That is outright and literal torture. It is full-stop worse than flogging them until their bones break, and any other number of viciously cruel punishments. Two: That will literally drive most human beings completely insane. It will fuck them royally up both psychologically and physiologically. It is a really damn bad idea.

After a prison sentence they'd go into a halfway house or rehabilitation or vocational education if it'd be helpful for them. I'd probably also inact a clause that removes the "felon" second-class citizen status after a number of years, maybe every 5-7 years without any significant criminal offense, they can get their right to vote and whatnot reinstated.
This, however, is pretty solid. It's seriously needed and seriously under implemented, currently. For most recidivism risks, it's the simple fact that crime is pretty damn close to their only choice once they get out of prison that leads them right back into it. Getting rid of the felon issue after a time would probably help, there, because felons are currently almost completely frakking unhireable. Job training, education, etc., would (and does, where it happens) also help.

I think making prison an intolerable, but brief experience will cut back on repeat offenses. I also think it would make prisons less expensive and manpower intensive to run. It gives former criminals plenty of second chances afterwards.
This point has actually been brought up in the past, maybe in this thread, maybe not. Turns out that prisons are actually already pretty fucking shitty, to put it bluntly. It's just a lot of people, especially folks that are at risk for recidivism, are living in situations outside of prison that are worse. Frankly, if a person has to choose between a living slice of hell and freezing to death (Because they have no home, no good clothes, no steady and sufficient source of food), well, a lot of people are going to go for that little bit of hell.

If possible, I recommend masks. Masks for everyone. Because g'damn. S'like those freaky ceramic doll things, just somehow uglier and more unsettling :-\

Comedy/tragedy masks or something would make everything better.

Depends on the other four animals, the type of chihuahua (and its circumstances!), and who exactly is going to be taking the majority of the burden of caring for it.

Things got a little unpleasant for me when m'own mutter decided she was going on a rescue dog (which is to say, rescued dogs; usually from poor situations or people that can no longer care for them) kick when there wasn't really enough room for them (The backyard fence was/is in seriously bad condition, so they couldn't be let roam the backyard.), she wasn't going to be the one taking care of them (but brought them into the house without consultation anyway), and a couple of the other animals we had didn't get along well with, well, other animals.

It's back down to sane numbers (for madre's house, occupancy, and capability) now, but for a bit it was good for neither the dogs nor the people living in the house.

It also really, really, depends on the chihuahua. I've met some really sweet ones (including the two current ones my mother has), but most of them have been little demon rats. Unpleasant little things, and I'm still leery about any canine that's smaller than most cats.

"Pirate of convenience" would probably be less pejorative and more accurate. It's not necessarily laziness, but that it's more convenient (less expensive, less technical/logistic issues) to pirate than obtain legitimately. I think there's also a similar term related to crime that I've forgotten, as well. Something or other of convenience. *vague shrug* E: Anyway, folks that pirate games they've bought in the past (Then lost CD/CD key/whatever) probably fall under this umbrella, too. It's technically illegal to do so, but it's an almost completely unambiguous moral issue, so plenty of people don't hesitate to do so instead of going through legitimate avenues of product replacement.

Incidentally, there's like a dozen+ threads related to this subject on the forum. You might want to go through and link to them, to help facilitate discussion.

Harpoon, webs, and a spinneret from a semi-boss giant spider introduced along with the stringshot.

I'm thinking post wall non-hallow/corruption area night time attack. You hear a little skittering noise and then it starts raining spiders. As you kill them, it starts raining bigger spiders, until it culminates in a giant clown-spider that spews webbing and exploding baby spiders everywhere.

Kinda' like a post-wall King Slime just... eight legged.
