Other Games / Re: Terraria - 1.3 released. Big Patch!

I stick with one world, unless there's something oddly specific I can't find (usually big tree or pyramid related, iirc), then I'll gen up a resource world to nab stuff from.

That said, most of the times I've played for the last while was with mods that offered alternative paths to getting, say, sandstorm in a bottle or whatever. So I generally don't actually have need to spool up a second world for special gubbins anymore.

I don't think you do, iirc. Limitation of the current forum software or somethin' like that.

Most sorts of american english I've ran into, it's about the same level as fuck you, maybe a bit tamer. It's... basically the same sentiment, y'know? Just less versatile.

Ooh, remote customer service. Welcome to the nightmare realm :P

... maybe it won't go too badly, here's hoping. My outside view of customer service jobs is that they consist of literally nothing but horror stories. Go out of my way to not make trouble for folks doing that kind of work when I have reason to call one.

Occasionally they just straight up thank me for it, yikes. Any case, good luck! May it pay the bills and not the therapist's christmas bonus.

It’s not a laptop Frumple, it’s a full-blown desktop computer needing all sorts of cables. But I’ll take your librarian advice in mind next time, when it is a laptop :p. Also it’s raining outside.
Ah. Yeah, you'd need more duct tape for that, maybe some extension cords. It's harder to get a computer tower to stay on the wall.

Rain, well, rain you just use more tape! Enough of the stuff and it'll end up water resistant. Easier with smaller objects, though. Desktop tower's pretty clunky.

Get a bunch of duct tape, strap laptop to the wall outside the nearest window. Close window, sound problem no longer yours.

Trust Frumple, Frumple is a librarian. Nothing about this plan could go wrong.

They're accessible, but also wildly inaccurate, easily capable of regularly producing false negatives or false positives.

Functionally, you're not going to get a reliable read until about the point you miss a period, i.e. about a month or so, probably a bit more, near as I can tell. Like this horseshit 30 day proposal, the 10 day tests are more a red herring than actually useful.

Well, they say that southern/Appalachian american is closer to OG english than England english currently is, so... it's probably me that speaks that? And a few others, we've had some georgia and carolina folks around.

There's also denominations that believe in physical reincarnation/resurrection and whatnot, iirc. The body's still important for them 'cause it's coming back at some point and the soul isn't really separable or whatever. S'kinda' like the ones that believed jesus never actually had a physical form, just... in reverse.

Really, one of the things to remember about christian (or religious in general) scripture is that at the end of the day the rules are basically calvinball. They're whatever a sufficient number of believers say they are, which is why denominational canon, interpretation, and such, are all over the place. There's usually general agreements, but when you start talking particulars, beliefs start running around like a spider on drugs, making odd looking webs.

Maruchan Yakisoba noodles heated in chicken stock and hoisin sauce with a bit of ginger is a distinct improvement. Did not use any flavor packet, so its even less unhealthy.
Speaking of those flavor packets, I'll tell you a secret, at least with the powdered ones: Two parts teriyaki beef to one part spicy chicken, used sparingly, is amazing. Empty the three packets into a little bag or container and shake well. Easily one of the best seasonings I've had to date, and pretty versatile in what it's good on (i.e. everything I've put it on so far).

e: omnomnom, loose hamburger cooked with teriyaki marinade, basmati rice, curry powder, taco blend walmart cheese, that's all, this should not taste this good nomnom

This is the most legit WTF I've come back to in a long time, well done.

Also, I'm heating up some ramen in some chicken broth now, because this revelation has uses outside of cursed internet horror.
Do that, add some actual chicken, then mostly drain it out and add some cheese and curry powder. Don't bother with the normal seasoning. Let sit for a little bit to thicken, then eat. It's pretty good.

General Discussion / Re: I like anime, do you like anime?

I watched through the available episodes of Odd Taxi today, and it's an awesome show. It's unpopular, and for a goddamn good reason though: it doesn't advertise what it actually IS nearly well enough to attract people to watch it.
Y'know, screenshots of that made me think: Hearing peripherals (ear buds, headphones, etc.) would probably be a pretty interesting industry with lots of anthros walking around. We mostly get by due to largely similar ear and head and neck structure, but in a world like that anime... you don't have that. Like, at all. It would probably make things pretty complicated.

Noise disturbance laws would also be wonky when there's a wild spread of hearing sensitivity, too, now that I think about it.

... could swear I've read something that involves that sort of thing as a plot point or background detail, but hell if I can recall where...

Noodles are noodles, at the end of the day. Anything that calls for thin round noodles can be made with ramen without much trouble. Just stay away from the seasoning packets, mostly.

Eh, FFmpeg has graphical frontends floating around. Could swear I used it for something at some point, but I definitely don't recall what. Huh.
