Been that way for quite a few hours, probably will be until monday or later.

H... how did it get back down?

See if you've got access to the materials/recipes for anything nice that needs more crafting power to create. If so, invest in <whatever's necessary to get loot>, otherwise, flip a coin and choose between bushido and berserker rage. Heads is rage, tails is bushido.

Personally, I'm curious what sort of "necessary family expenditure" takes 200k to finance.

E: Which is another way of saying, "I call bullshit," if that implication wasn't obvious.

General Discussion / Re: American Election Megathread

I presume you mean American.
Silly Zrk2, to the sort of American they're talking about, only one country speaks English, and that's America. The rest of you "English" speakers gabber in some sort of sometimes-amusing lesser dialect. Like ebonics, just country wide. 'We' just let you claim it's English out of a sort of paternal amusement for the lesser.

Wish to fribblyfrabbly there weren't actually people that think like that :-[

Would have to learn to drive on them, but by the gods I'd happily trade you 110 in the shade avec 90 something percent humidity for frozen roads. I'd even sell you 70+ degree winters at a small markup, were it in my power.

Weather forecast says it's going to warm up again.

Damnit weather, make up freaking mind. GET COLD ALREADY. And stay like that. More than a week.

Florida weather depresses me.

Yeah, all that rotterdamn nonsense is why it seems more attractive to just ditch the junk. Y'want the legalsocial trappings or moral obligations of civil unions, then do it yer own bloody self without getting the courts or law involved.

Won't happen, but hell, a person can dream :-\

The party will be that hard, yes.

Incidentally, I think I picked up la petite morte from some book or another back in high school, in a completely innocent manner. I've since seen it all over the bloody place, though. The original french is pretty common to see even in english texts.

Truean, those first two links go to the same place :P

As for all that complication, while I'd definitely rather folks just figure out a way to make all forms of partnership work, it definitely seems more to me like really strong support for just doing away with civil unions entirely. You want to be treated as a single entity? Incorporate, I guess. Want to sign a contract of continued support? Sign the bloody contract. Etc., so forth.

Just seems more and more like domestic partnership on a legal level isn't worth the hassle and legal complication. Only thing I personally know of that it gives you is legal permission to visit your partner in the hospital, really (and I'm fairly sure you could get around that elseways), and some degree of taxation consideration.

There's probably some bias on my part, though; even if I do end up in a long-term (or even permanent) relationship, there's no way in hell I'm entering into a legally binding contract in relation to it, beyond, perhaps, a will. If I'm going to support and be interdependent with someone, it's going to be solely by my own free will, not with a specter of legal coercion haunting it.

I think it's originally a french expression...
La petite morte, yeah, iirc. Death is female in french ::)

As for the phone thing, and appropriate to this thread, I don't have a functioning cell phone, and zero interest at all in one of the small computer/phone things. The bright side of everyone else being absorbed in them? Less likely to bother you.

And with actual voice service seeing a downturn, the even brighter side is that less people are talking on phones, too. Less people bothering you, area in general's quieter... bonuses all around~

Protip, people: You don't need to use outside voice for the phone. They can hear you if you're talking softly, just fine.

... why does it seem like half the people using cellphones raise their volume level when they start talking into them, anyway? Are they really that desperate to share their conversation with everyone in a 20' radius?

... You should probably actually go back and read this thread. What you've said, if you're not just trollololing, has been brought up umpteenth amount of times.

tl;dr version: When women actually aren't being repressed and unequally treated, then we men can complain about that shit. Start with income equality and work from there.

Gigantic... bees? You mean the wasps? They're, uh. Not exactly the same thing.

Bees aren't that bad. Make honey, interesting social structure. Plenty of 'em won't even sting you.

Wasps are one of nature's bastard animals. They keep some other fairly nasty things populations down, but the way they go about it is right up there on the "Proofs there can be no loving God" list.
