It's a separation thing, mostly, from what I understand. You're exhibiting an obvious behavior that's abnormal, which makes it easy to fixate on and react against, despite it having basically zero meaning. "The nail that stands up gets hammered down" and that rot; it's not as prevalent in places like the US, but it's still a fairly common trait of human social interaction. Different == other == bad, unconditionally. Something like diet is just really easy to identify as being different, especially in a society where unusual diets aren't very well accommodated to, in most areas.

I mean, if you're doing something as weird as being a vegetarian, who knows what other sort of freakishness you're getting up to. You might even care about humane treatment of animals, and everyone knows only those sorts of people care about stuff like that ::)

It's silly, but very human. Eh.

Odd. I'm pretty sure I dropped the thing's shields with a Volley and max (at that time) tech missiles (Not micro missiles, mind). With a Flora, though, you might need some launcher boosters, or to tech up cannons a bit to boost drone damage. Alternately refit with torpedoes once the enemy ships are down, to bust up the station itself.

Definitely kill off all the supporting enemies before going for the station, though, and back off if reinforcements come. That'll free up your minion ships to help hammer on the station itself.

Alternately, swap in a ship that can use mines, and drop a mine deployer-whatsit close to the station. Iirc, I dropped a tech three (max strength) station with tech two mines and the basic minelayer, so it should definitely manage vs. that science station.

There's social stigma to it in a lot of parts of the states, at least. Something about being a pansy or a hippy or a liberal or some similar line of bullshit. Vegan is an insult to a not-inconsiderably number of people ::)

It doesn't actually matter (outside of the costs to maintain the diet, which can be a little higher in some situations, from what I understand), but it's something that separates one from the group, allowing others to treat you as different and indulge in prejudice. Remember, different == bad, unconditionally.

It is windy and cold outside.

It might actually stay that way (at least for the latter) longer than two or three days this time.

Being heftily sick of 70+ degree weather in winter, Frumple is overjoyed!

... unfortunately, I've already made a post or two like this in this thread. Hope springs eternal, though~

Cold! Precious, precious, entirely too short lived cold! I've missed you so...

Or you can just take a flamarang avec autoclicker to it and murder everything :P

Sunfury does a pretty good job of clearing out the initial miniontentacle glut, though.

... because you're using armor and weapons that could have trouble with skeletron, against an enemy that could eat a few skeletrons and come back for dessert.

You can search this topic for wall killing tactics. There's been a few fairly lengthy discussions on how to go about it :P

I wish I was joking, really. Effectively inhumane practices actually do produce a tastier meat, and in higher quantities. It's terrible but delicious.

Surreal and delicious.

Don't forget the delicious. The suffering makes the meat taste better.

"oh sorry sir did i push you on the ground and your fancy armour keeps you down/maybe underwater? dont mind me, this hammer will end those problems..."
Magic, baby.

"Oh, no, no problem, good fellow!" *does a kipup thirty feet into the air, spewing returning throwing weapons around, killing ten to fifteen of your friends, then decapitates you and six other people with a length expanding broadsword.* Fantasy land sez, "Enchanted mythril gives me wings! and still blocks cannonfire from three feet off."

So, my random thought of the day re: URR: Specialists and god-blooded. Will there be characters within a race with unique talents or strange mutations? Any comments on how that'd play out?

I could see a kind of multi-layer mutation system resembling other RLs, except with multiple sets (Kinda' like how Crawl does demonspawn/normal mutations/Jiyva mutations) depending on the source. With a pantheon of gods, you could have each of them having a unique set of mutations (possibly procedurally generated, if the gods themselves are) that divine descendants can manifest, ferex, while the magic node-type stuff mentioned earlier could have their own mutation set based on the node; stuff born or living for too long in the area would start to manifest strange abilities. Then you'd have possibly a few sets of just weird stuff that comes out occasionally.

What about crossbreeding? How much of or is crossbreeding going to be a thing, and could we have strange descendant type-things happening starting from people that, say, contract with elemental spirits or what-have-you? Are we going to be able to crossbreed a hydra with something with wings, and then mix the offspring with a fire elemental to have a giant, flying, regenerating, flaming megabeast of many heads and doom? What about lower key stuff, like introducing trolls or whathaveyou into your preferred recruiting base, causing a rise of half-trolls (that, incidentally, have regeneration and higher than normal strength and toughness, perfect for cannonfodder that's harder to kill than humans but smarter than trolls.)?

... the other question coming from that being timeframe. Is your character going to be subjected to the ravages of time? If so, will there be ways around that (magic!) or means of passing control to another character (de dynasty!), and will different playable races have different lifespans?

... tangential to that, how expansive a choice of race for the main character? If we want to play a hydra, will it go forth into the world and pick out a hydra that just happens to have a strong enough intelligence boosting mutation to justify leading an army?

I wanna watch whoever finally takes down Riemann's.
So... time travel and a boxing match with the fellow?

Fellow's got quite a bit named after 'im, whoever he is. Wiki stuff's making me wonder if I haven't seen the name before, hrm. Days I wish I hadn't lost my interest in becoming fluent in mathematic. Most of the stuff's really easy to understand when it's actually translated into plain english, it's just getting to that point :-\

Is your shift button stuck? Try pushing it a few times.
If it's not just a stuck key, certain programs'll stick the state of stuff like capslock when you get out of them, or focus shifts oddly or junk.

Ferex, there's this one I play where capslock activates a free look mode. If you go into the game with caps on, turning them off will activate the free look (which then buggers up a bunch of stuff, as cap'd numbers and suchlike are hotkeys). Th'way o'fixing it in that particular (without restarting the prog), is to set free look going (by deactivating caps in game), then alt-tab out, turn caps back on, go back into the game, and have everything go back to normal (because now you're in-game with free look and caps-lock on, and turning caps off gets you back to normal mode.).

Which... looking at that, seems very arcane. Probably a better way of putting, somehow.

Just like Thomas Jefferson, the guy who wrote this.
Hey, neat. I've been wondering for a while what something like that would look like. Thanks for the link. Knew someone would have had to have done it (strip out the dross) at some point, but I don't think I was expecting Jefferson. Though I'm not exactly surprised. Sharp fellow, he was.

Joe Arpaio is the Sheriff of a county in Arizona, famous for rigorously enforcing the new law allowing police to arrest people on suspicion of being an illegal immigrant, even in violation of a court injunction against it.  And things like training his own band of vigilante border-watchers and advocating military-scale border security.

Yeah, he's a fan of Perry and Perry's a fan of him.
... ah. Someone I would have rather not (known) existed, then. Still kinda' curious why one would base one's preference for presidential candidate on the opinion of someone like that, though.

I agree with some of Ron Paul's positions, but I disagree with his views on foreign policy and taxes. Rick Perry has Joe Arpaio's support, so he's definitely the best candidate.
Having never heard of this Joe fellow, why's his approval what you're looking at?
