General Discussion / Re: Things that made you go "WTF?" today o_O

... anal isn't the only thing that could be involved, for what that's worth. It's not impossible they actually did have a 100%, particularly if they were good at figuring out who'd be amenable to such, it'd just be statistically somewhat unlikely.

Unlikely isn't impossible, though.

Though yeah, trap definitely can be a slur. I haven't seen it used that way often -- the most common usage I actually see, personally, is referring to men who cross dress or otherwise look extremely feminine, but are heteronormative in most other ways, not trans or gay -- but it can be used as one. One of those "probably better to just avoid using" things, at least when talking about people. The ackbar can still be used with other stuff, yeah.

Pretty much. The why of the favor for the nation varies wildly -- a great deal of the support actually comes from outright anti-semites, ferex, who want Israel to exist solely so it can be destroyed -- but pretty staunch support is one of the more bipartisan issues in the US, at this point.

That might be eroding somewhat, but it hasn't actually done so to a meaningful degree, yet.

Wizards and Warlords has the whole "create a winning combo and steamroll" vibe to it.
Procedurally generated races, you say?

Let's give it a shot.
We have a thread for it somewhere around here. Dev's popped in a few times. It's fairly nice, but also very much still in development. Has come a long, long way with a good bit still to go, from what I've seen.

Still, easy to sink a few hours into it occasionally as is, with it likely to only get better. Not too much to do with MoM, though :P

tiny happy in otherwise fairly miserable day, but it turns out peanut butter and apple sandwiches still taste pretty good

been, like... probably a decade since I ate some, I think? years, anyway

Most folks seem to have meaningful reaction the day after, for what it's worth. First day (yesterday) was just arm pain after a few hours (notably worse than the first time, which is fairly fucking vicious tbh), but about 18 hours or thereabouts (not quite on waking up today, but a few hours after) I've got mild fever symptoms (though the thermometer is consistently saying no actual fever).

Enough to be pretty miserable, basically, but not super miserable.

Meanwhile, I'm not a goddamn nergal worshipper and will not start doing the equivalent of driving drunk just because they've finally installed a seat belt, thanks.

2722
Yeah... I was guardedly interested on seeing mention of it... until I actually saw screenshots. Hex based, generic <current-year> fantasy 4X looking screenshots.

Now I'm mostly just expecting the general curse most long-term remake/reboot things seem to face to express itself fully and this end up a thoroughly disappointing, mediocre at best cash grab :-\

I mean, definitely on a personal level, I'll stop masking in public and mostly avoiding people when the plague stops... and local statistics, unreliable as they are, are very clear that hasn't actually happened yet. At all. Barely even a little.

Most I plan on changing up is maybe getting some delayed non-vital doctor visits in (probably warranted eye check, some annoying but not dangerous dermatology stuff) and maybe finally get the damage to the car I'm driving from Michael fixed up.

Vaccine is pretty damn effective, sure, but it ain't 100% and you ain't supposed to fuck around with a goddamn plague, regardless as to if the CDC is saying you're okay to play silly buggers again.

Second shot get. Now to wait and see how badly it's going to mess me up. Here's hoping I'll be okay by Monday...

Companies like Amazon use salesforce. I'm super surprised this isn't on the news.

We're gonna see some stock changes, probably.
What was on the news is whatever that is that's going on with that pipeline. Something about a cyber attack/ransomware attempt shutting down a major fuel line? Any idea if it's related?

Pretty sure Star Renegades had a nemesis type dealio going on, too, if you wanted something less... 3D. There's been varied efforts to do that kind of thing since Shadow released. Could swear I remember stuff like that before, too, just not as well implemented.

Eh... it's not a fashion thing, exactly. If you have long hair having a way to tie it back is, uh. Helpful. More practicality than fanciness.

They're just monocolor purple in this case, no embellishments. If purple wasn't best color I wouldn't have gone out of my way for it (if you're not actively going out of your way to display one, the simple hair ties just aren't particularly visible to begin with, tbh, so there's not much actual need to care), but it is best color so I did. Easy way to always be wearing purple, like the saint paddy's day cheat of having green eyes :P

2729
So like last week I got fed up trying to source the right color hair ties from the normal places I shop (they were findable, but usually only part of a variety pack and in small numbers, which was annoying for several reasons), and decided to see if I could just order a bunch online and be done with it for a while. Turned out I could, and they showed up in the mail yesterday.

Short story shorter Frumple now has a 20-30 year supply of purple hair ties and probably won't have to worry about getting new ones for a long, long time. Whee.

There's at least a few species out there that just doesn't do the cancer thing at all, iirc. Currently being researched, please check back later!

Like I said, I mostly attribute it to evolution being a remarkably shitty process on some fronts. Modern stuff can exacerbate some of it, but all the newfangled junk mostly just makes it easier to notice and accurately catalog the mess biology makes of us. Friggin' biology.

In any case, one day entropy will win and I'll finally have my revenge on biology! Something to look forward to. Or not, depending on how the whole afterlife thing goes/doesn't go.
