Ah. Yeah, folks have been saying herd immunity actually happening is increasingly unlikely for a... few weeks now, I think? It's either been a bit or dealing with the plague plus a pair of increasingly demented grandparents has finally warped my sense of time sufficiently it just feels like a few weeks. One of those two!

Definitely sucks, though, yup.

Wait, the anti-vax nergal worship (who's ready for wave N+1, whoo) or the humanitarian mission jab?

At least this one didn't cause a massive wildfire or end up involving deaths. Makes it an improvement over some of the ones that have happened :-\

Eh, the phenomenon predates all that by millennium, from what I understand. Written mention of it or stuff that is probably referencing it isn't much younger than writing, itself, iirc. I like thinking of it as the music of the celestial spheres, that eternal grinding that comes from their movement.

End of the day, though, being a haphazard pile of ~what didn't fail badly enough~ comes with its assortment of bugs and performance issues. To error is squishy meatsack, or something like that.

... anyway, can confirm ballistic ear protection is good sleep investment. Been using gun range hearing protection to sleep with (or just when I want it to be a bit quieter) for years now, after a period of trying and failing to find something with a better price to function ratio (dedicated sleeping aids like that tend to be both expensive and pretty shit at actually blocking sound).

Also, you totally can sleep on your side proper with them on; the trick is to take a spare blanket and basically make a pillow with a hole in the middle to fit the thing, so it doesn't squish the side of your head while still having support for your noggin. Takes some fiddling to get right, but it's not particularly difficult. Extra blankets makes nice multiform shoggoth pillows in general, really.

Other helpful trick I've found with them, particularly once they start to wear out, is to also use a comfy (thin) blanket wrapped around your head (like a hood, basically) that you put the thing over, instead of directly on your ears. Extra cushioning without meaningfully impacting noise reduction that can double as a blindfold if you want to block out light, too, it's nice.

Mostly worthless, probably? Almost certainly more trouble than it's worth if all you're after is general multimedia use, regardless.

Turns out helm of the mad king (increase attack damage and speed when attacked) + war mage's greatstaff (gain a shield = to attack damage when you attack) + bouncing buckler (deal damage per 100 shield gained) on a druid is ridiculously powerful.
Spoiler: game (click to show/hide)

E: Had the third item wrong... also, it happened again, on the very next run. RIP corruption 18 :V

My dad’s been moving places so I’ve been there to clean out some boxes of toys I left there untouched when moving out myself. Really untouched apparently, because I found poops of a hamster that’s been dead for at least 6 years.
At least it wasn't the dead hamster. Had something like that happen once, hamster that had been missing for a while show up in a box in a closet, dried out like an old hamster mummy.

Part of the reason I dislike hamsters fairly intensely, that.

Or cave flyers, I think? The caving one with physics based movement is sorta' its own thing somewhat distinct from the lander things. Quick shortlist I found would be here.

But yeah, there's actually a somewhat surprising amount of those things. There was a point making them (if not necessarily playing them, ha) was relatively popular, and you still get little coding-practice type games show up using the design occasionally.

So this... Smelter thing. Only watched a couple hours of gameplay, but it seems to be a pretty straightforward Actraiser+Megaman X (including an OST partially from a megaman series composer) mashup, just with, uh. Kill la Kill aesthetics? Very, very Kill la Kill aesthetics.

Seems pretty neat, in any case.

I must agree with some before : SimEarth.
Not ever a game has tried to do "this" after.
There's actually been simearth type attempts since, for what it's worth, at least one even fairly recently -- again, memory is failing me as to title, but Nookrium did a vid on it not that long ago. Pretty sure I vaguely remember one or two flash games doing roughly the same thing, too.

Folks really seem to underestimate just how much stuff flies out of game devs over time, heh. 'Cause, like, there's a lot, at the end of the day.

I don't play chess these days, but I do feel compelled to suggest you give "5D Chess With Multiverse Time Travel" a try. It almost makes the game actually interesting :P

Someone's been putting up signs saying "Get rich, invest dogecoin" around the area.

I am surprised the laptop ran as well as it did, considering there was no active cooling. And that it raised no alerts at all.

That's what I'd call "terrifying", not "WTF", but that may just be because I'm attached to computers. They're somewhere between "pet" and "human" on my attachment scale. I haven't yet called a computer by a name, but I do catch myself stroking PCs I have some connection to, because I think they deserve to be taken care of like any pet. But, like even more, because they're my hobby.

I'm already a bit unsettled by seeing my laptop's CPU push >90°C playing Breath of the Wild, and that's with the fans running at full speed. If the fans died, I'd probably use it as little as possible 'till it gets fixed. Can't have a computer suffering, not on my watch.
Hahaha, I had an acer laptop that kept running for like better than five years without a functioning fan. It actually caused burns on my skin a few times :P

Bloody thing kept working, though, right up until I put it aside for something with better specs and less medical concerns.

... it was also the last acer computer I owned that worked worth a damn for longer than a year or so, though. Tried a couple times after it, but they apparently pretty literally don't make their machines like they used to. Nowadays you'd have to pay me to use an acer brand computer :-\

Pretty much. You got lucky, take the win and go on making happy mask noises when in public.
