Bluh bluh I just can't beat the Destroyer. Using adamantine armor with the ranged helm and an adamantine repeater + hellfire arrows on a skybridge. I don't think this is bad preparations on my part, I think I'm just not a good enough player.

Percing. Weapon.

Spear or Dao of Pow. Doit.

Might want to use the melee helm, too. More defense, which helps a little. Ironskin and regen potion, of course. Bowl of soup would help.

Kefka's outfit plus the most pimp hat in the game. Clown hat > all other hats.

Obsidian (or just plain cobalt, really) shields do prevent knockback, though. No getting knocked into said magma. e: Ninja'd.

Reinstallation sans keys (It's fortunately incredibly easy to change to an appropriate key if I e'er dig one back up) is going well, probably be done later this afternoon. Then it's looking into hamachi or... whatever's appropriate, I guess. I'll see about hosting, but m'conn's not the greatest in the world.

Anyone have suggestions/links to maps? Perhaps even a map folder compressed and uploaded to mediafire or somethin'? M'definitely going to hunt down a few battleship maps and some of the more interesting not!Dota AoS maps, but anything and everything else s'far as recommendations go would be awesome ;D My memory of the good stuff innit at its peak, and getting the right version was always a nightmare.

Ah, there's no way in hell I'm getting or playing SC2. Not even interested in filching it :-\

Partially because of my system's specs, but mostly because I've heard basically nothing but shit about how Blizz has handled custom maps for the game (And I'm completely uninterested in the vanilla game, yeah, outside of maybe a single campaign playthrough.). Between that and my distaste of how B's been handling certain other things for their new stuff, I really just don't want to give them any money. I've already bought Diablo, years back, and th'whole spread of RTS warcrafts. S'all they're getting, yanno'?

WC3'd be nice for setting up some lan stuff via hamachi or whatever, if I couldn't rustle up th'bloody keys.

Ahaha, one of the RoC cds seems to actually work! And makes my computer cause a horrible racket, but... apparent function? Huzzah!

"Please enter CD key" arglefargle, damnit.

I actually checked th'blizz stuff to see if there was a recovery option of some sort for lost keys. 10$+s&h, sending off the CDs, 2-4 weeks for processing :-\

Per CD, apparently. The battlechest is currently $19.99 on amazon (and twice that on the actual blizzard store. What?).

Gonna' have to either find th'old CD case or a way around the CD key, first, heh.

Actually managed to dig the CDs out of my car (Have two RoC ones, for some strange reason), but gods only know where th'ruddy case is. Haven't seen it in years :-\

Steam is JackThejil, though I'm not usually on. Only thing I've got on there that's multiplayer is Terraria, and the widescreen proggie for it bypasses Steam :P

If we start on an empty world, where are the materials going to come from?
Look at the dungeon. Now look at me. No more dungeon! Oh my, where did allllll this dungeon brick come from?

Basically that.

"Where are the materials going to come from," really. Where do you think they come from, th'bleedin' stork? Getcher pick out of the invhacked inventory it's been sitting in for the last week/month and use the bloody thing! (I jest, of course, but still...)

...

though you may have been talking about an actually empty, blockless world. That... you'd have to improvise with the obsidian that forms after the block removal. Might be interesting! Not what the fellow meant by empty, though :P

This is... actually really tempting. I've got my old cd-keys sitting around somewhere or another (though I doubt the CDs themselves work at this point :-\) and a bit of an AoS (Note: Not fooking pansy ass PoS DotA) itch that the non-functioning LoL can't scratch for me.

Would also freaking love to try NotD: Aftermath. Tried many dozen times to get in an game last time I played WC3, but absolutely jack zero people hosting the damn map would let someone DL it and the crap I kept pulling off of map sites was never the right version :-\

And a bunch of other old favorites, too. Need to look into this in the morning a bit more heavily, see how much effort it'd be to get WC3 up and running on this comp. That, and see where the hell I stuck that zip file holding that jackton of custom maps. I was balls at the vanilla game (Don't have the twitch to do RTS proper.), but absolutely enthralled by the custom stuff for a few years, off and on, and pretty solid with several types.

I've played Fps's before on the pc, fast clicking doesn't bother me much :P  Good ol' Battlefield 2 / TF2..

It's not so much not being able to do it, as some of us getting-older folks really don't need to be tempting the carpal tunnel. Pretty much everyone everywhere needs to just implement autofire and save their users their wrists, really.

And giant bats.
Fun fact: Giant bats hit harder than anything the destroyer can do to you :P Also anything skeletron prime can do to you during the night. Only 5 points less than the twins second-form melee damage!

Semiautomatic pistols are suppoesed to work like that. Otherwise it'd be a machine pistol, and that'd be slightly overpowered. In most FPSes you have a load of pistols that fire as fast as you click, I enjoy doing it...

So, uh. Does the game interfere with autohotkey at all? Because if not, yanno', there's a solution to this.

Defense is useless in hardmode. Bonuses > defense, but raise it as much as you can anyway for when you slip up and actually get hit.

Hahaha, total and absolute lie*. Even full (melee) adamantine + full-up warding accessories makes you nearly as tough as full molten does pre-wall. I haven't nabbed up the hallow set, yet, but that'd make it even better worse. Even limited dodging with minor potion use makes you basically unstoppable :P

For better raw numbers, melee hallow + 5 warding accs gives you 70 defense, which knocks 35 damage off of everything that attacks you. A ironskin potion knocks another 4 off, for 39. That just shy of halves the damage getting smacked in the face by a wyvern's head does, and reduces the damage from standing on the non-head parts right down to one. Clinger ranged damage? To one. Melee, halved. Laser snail lasers? To one. Corruptors? Damage ~halved. Unicorns, same. Chaos elemental! One damage! Destroyer! Everything but the head! Damage reduced to one! The head cut to less than half! *maddened, borderline invincible, cackling*

Don't want ironskin? Add four to some of those numbers. Still in melee addy? Add two. Anyway, you get the idea. Full defense spec is still pretty frakking incredible. You lose out on some damage (Fairly notable amount vs. a full damage spec, honestly), but... it's viable. To say the least.

*Well, okay, not a lie, but definitely not giving defense its fair shake. Let's run some numbers, shall we!? AHAHAHAHAHAHA

Better advice: Adamantine armor set and a freaking spear, brah, and warding on as many accessories as you can manage. Throw on ironskin, bowl o'soup, and regen, and destro'll be basically incapable of damaging you. Then just hover around whatever part of it you can hit the most of per swing and occasionally suck up probe hearts. Dao of Pow would probably rock its world, too.

Soloing the bugger was surprisingly easy. I was using a legendary gung, but I finished killing the thing before the night was half-over, so theoretically you only need half that damage output.

Basically you need piercing. No piercing, no mos.
