... so yeah. I've spent 6-7 hours trying to get through this maestro error thing. Everything recommended on the boards, on the wiki, on the official support page, didn't work. There's been no actual response from Riot in any of th'areas in question, near as I can tell. The client they use is an utter piece of shit pretty poorly made, at least so far as my experience is concerned. Game could vomit actual gold onto the ground at my feet every time it started up for a week and not make up for this kind of frustration. Time to give up the ghost and uninstall this 4 1/2 gig piece of junk data.

Special request for you, Yodamaster/OP, if you remember it in the future. If Riot ever actually gets off their ass and makes a functioning client (Reads: Gets rid of the intermediaries between Adobe Air and the servers they have to connect to, or just migrates from Air entirely), could you mention it in the thread title? I might be able to play whenever if that day comes around.

Mweeheehee, I can already see one way to break it. Will save actually mentioning it for round two, though :P

So, what... find everything that's been built in the dirt layer, surround it with a good perimeter of dungeon brick, slap a line of dungeon brick across the dirt/stone divide, then bomb the whole world to hell?

I've yet to be able to kill one.
Basically, rocket boots. Possibly a freefall potion and a balloon. Wings, of course, dominate them. You jump over it as it dives, hit for a bit while you're in the air, land, jump back over on the return dive. Rinse, repeat. They're actually really easy to kill, it just takes some getting used to their pattern, and the right accessories to keep yourself in the air long enough for it to pass under you. Decent spear (dark trident or better) will manage it pretty well if you don't want to use ammo on it. Most of the magic weapons run out of mana before managing to kill it, if you're not heavily spec'd for magic use.

Scary as fook the first time you run into them, though. I think the buggers killed me three or four times before I noticed the pattern (mostly because they kept showing up when I was in the middle of murdering something else, ha.).

... so this thing requires an updated internet explorer to function? Really?

*goes to open IE for the first time in >year.* "Welcome to Internet Explorer 8" damnitall

E: Anyone had any luck getting around maestro errors? This is what was buggering with me last time, and the problem seems to have gotten even worse, somehow.

S'holding th'point that it's a worse moral act to inflict atrocities on one's own in-group (or at least immediate bloodkin) than on the outgroup.

Basically, it's frakking terrible (beyond the english language to properly entail in a short sentence.) to torture and murder children, but it's worse to do it to your own.

It's not actually logically consistent re: deep analysis, but it's a common sentiment.

... which mega-man world, though? Baseline, X, or that Zero stuff on the GBA? The latter two (well, all of them, really...) end up pretty shitty for us fleshbagss. iirc.

The same way you can have a town with a population of >500 with precisely one african american on its census rolls in said century. Some places are just full of bigoted fucks somewhat backwards people, still. Rural towns especially can be pretty static in what sort of cultural prejudices stick around for a while, because there's not much in/out flow of population (and thus ideas), and most of what does occur is of family (and/or "like minded" individuals.).

Haven't found any quick (non-multi-generational) fixes for that kind of head-in-ass yet. That doesn't involve "burn it with fire" at least. Which is illegal.

Torches, torches, everywhere. Three cursed flame for a 99 stack of cursed torches. Retro-lighting to not have to deal with the green glow (it's also considerably brighter).

Or stacks of nightowl+shine potions. Press C for massive illumination! They're fairly easy to make. Hardest ingredient to farm is glowing mushrooms for the shine -- and given how easy it is to make an industrial sized glowing mushroom farm, "hardest" isn't very hard at all.

Someone was a massive jerk when they made those two have different durations, though :-\

'bout an hour before the DL finishes and I can try again, whee.

That pando PoS giving me BS about date and time already isn't a good sign, though. At least before it waited until I actually fired the bloody game up before acting up. Resynching with windows time at least let the download start (Didn't actually change my time though. Not even by a second :-\), but...

All I've got is a skyisland halfway converted into a farm. No space base.

... though you can doublejump off the top of the little building on it and hit the top of the map.

27357
... it's an arena map, in WC3 parlance, that bloodlines thing. Not an AoS :P

There were craploads of those things back in WC3 was more active. Same for AoS maps, honestly. I guess they're still hanging around map sites... eh. Been a while since I tried to hunt down my warcraft CDs.

27358
Since around January this year, I think, so I guess it's time to free up some HD space and see if it'll run... for the third or fourth time.

Feeling the AoS bug, for all that LoL is one of those terribly unambitious (Read: DotA inspired. Hundreds -- or at least dozens -- of minions per lane, plox. If the killcount isn't in the tens of thousands by the end of a half-hour game, you're doing it wrong.) ones.

27359
So, uh. Anyone know if there's been any changes/improvements to the client (read: That thing before you actually play the game) in the last year or so?

Last time I tried to get LoL to run (On this, my only computer), it was effectively non-functioning due to some sort of timing error their official forums couldn't seem to find a fix for and the devs were apparently ignoring. So, uh. Any news of progress on that front?

Re: Super Robot Wars: There's actually three on the GBA that's in english -- the OG games, that you mentioned, that use entirely original characters, and J, which is part of the SRW main series (Read: Megacrossover madness.) and was fantranz'd... sometime last year? *checks* Yeah, 2010.

As for english (SRPG) SRW games go: You've got SRW1, on the gameboy, SRW3, on the SNES, SRW Alpha Gaiden, on the PSX, and then the GBA ones. Of those, only the OG (Original Generation) ones were ever officially translated. The copyright entanglements involved in the SRW series is hilariously complicated -- they're (each and every one of them) basically mega-crossover fanfiction involving upwards a couple dozen giant robot series. The chances of non-OG games ever seeing an official state-side release is basically zero.

Plot wise, each game (at least within the confines of that game) has seemed to be disturbingly self-consistant. Like I said, it's megacrossover fanfiction... that's actually well put together (Protip: That doesn't happen very often.). The fights are also pretty tough if you don't hack up your money to infinite :P

If you have any love whatsoever of giant robots, SRW is just something you need to do, at least occasionally.
