Autoduel also needs a remake, as i am unaware of any mad-max rpgs since.
There's been several mad max style rpgs over the years, including an entire jrpg series (The metal max stuff). I'm forgetting names, but I've seen three or four indie vehicle focused post-apoc type dealios just in the last two or three years. It's not a huge thing, but it's a fairly existent genre niche, it just doesn't get much visibility.

Wait I thought one of the selling points of the game was that you could technically walk straight to Mount Doom or whatever and win the game, it was just nearly impossible unless you had quested around first?

Yeah, but I don't count going to the place where literally everyone tells you the Final Boss is as being a 'stumble on some place' kind of gotcha. You can't short circuit the quest line. You can fight the final boss early, but you can walk around his lair as much as you like without interrupting the progression.
Actually, I think you can short circuit the quest line, but it's not something you're going to, like, stumble across. BotW's got some pretty impressive glitches, heh.

Is that a null or an uninitialized variable?
Yes.

Using entirely royalty-free music would make it sound generic, since everyone and their mother's used it somewhere (discussed in Part 1 of that series). I want more variety.
There's stupid amounts of royalty free or otherwise copyright unentangled music, though. Like... thousands, tens of thousands of songs spanning pretty much every genre. There's plenty of variety there, more than a little that hasn't seen much use or reuse. Saying that using it would mean your stuff would be generic or overused is just... wrong, y'know? Wildly underestimating just how much of the stuff is floating around these days.

It'd sound generic of you used the generic sounding ones, so hunt around until you found other things :P

If we're talking healthcare for what is basically an arbitrary group of people, why not just healthcare for all at that point?
That'd be better, sure. It's not an arbitrary group, though. If we're going to call folks essential and warrant it okay to throw them onto the front lines of a pandemic, they probably deserve something better than (less than) minimum wage for it.

I mean... for all its problems, the VA is definitely better than nothing, and very often better than most health insurance et al schemes, especially those reasonably accessible to vets that need care. It's not exactly amazing, but some sort of equivalent for essential workers would be pretty fucking helpful at the end of the day.

I worry about the accumulating apathy though.  There's rumors and also announcements (in pfizer's case) of needing booster shots, and I have serious doubts you can motivate people to get them.
Flu shot does... alright. Ish. But it'd basically be that, and what folks have been saying is a likely results for the plague anyway, it ending up a seasonal flu. Folks motivated for booster type junk well enough prior to the whole ~lived through a global scale plague~ thing.

Have hard drives gotten worse in access time performance over time? I know that software bloat makes running Windows 10 on a hard drive an intolerable experience, but I wonder if hard drives simply got worse as they stopped being used as boot drives.
Running Win 10 on a hard drive is no less tolerable than... any other windows has been, over the course of there being windows. Probably more so than the earlier ones often were, for that matter. It's a bit slower than a solid state or whatever, but it still doesn't exactly take long on most hardware in use nowadays.

Folks have odd expectations for computer performance, sometimes...

Reminds me of that commercial thing where someone jammed dried noodles into their mouth then guzzled steaming water. Been around for a while, whatever it was.

Interpreted coffee is either decaf or toffee, if I had to take a stab at it. Something in that direction. Coffee flavored stuff.

Alternatively, it's just used coffee filters. You can do stuff with those things!

I'm... fairly sure there's been one or two designed similarly to that dominus since the first, actually? I distinctly remember at least one since with a presentation a fair amount like it, with a focus on traps and defending against incoming critters, in a way that was fairly distinct from your average tower defense sort of thing.

Can't for the life of me remember what it was called, though.

The blurb did, but that presentation in the screenshots is a remarkably hard hell no, yikes.

Weird thing is I think back in the day dungeon hack was several times more tolerable an experience than eye of the beholder...

"Bud and the Shoe Goblin" sounds like a band name, tbh. Good luck with that.

It varies a lot based on where you are and the specific program. Where I was at, it mostly negotiated with normal classes to substitute higher level work for the normal curriculum, which generally came out to more difficult and involved school work, but mostly less of it in a much more engaging structure. Was in it myself, and it was one of the few actually actively tolerable parts of the K-12 experience.

Other places, it's basically misery stacked on top an already shit experience. Just depends on where you are and how the local program is structured. Most of what I've heard from folks involved over the years have pegged it as ~at least better than normal classes~, for what that's worth, though.

About the best link I could find for it, I think... Flero, Le Jazz Cafe. Sax work with a fairly serious beat to it.

It's made me start looking into more of what seems to be called Funky Jazz or Jazz Hop. Initial impression is ~gimme dat shit~

We totally would download a car, though. Thanks to 3d printers, if folks haven't already done it, it's only a matter of time before someone does. That day will be a good day, probably.
