So what did blue do to get all the hate.

Near as I've been able to tell, just be an easy, accessible, target. Though I've been ignoring the blazes out of all that nonsense. Too busy playing Terraria to watching nitwits snipe at each other :-\

Though re: rocketboots: I hate you all. I've solo'd three goblin attacks and participated in about four MP ones, and I've yet to see any bloody boots. At least I've finally got the sunfury~ It can one-shot fire imps if it hits just right. Beautiful.

What are you doing that needs so many health potions?

Well, nothing, really. I've been using the same 30 stack of health potions for like 4 hell trips and a couple bosses, as well as while piping water through the jungle for obsidian. I've got probably 150+ health pots stuck in SP chests and well over 500 glowing shrooms stuffed in various containers, just kinda' sitting there.

It's just fun to grow the shrooms, look at their awesome glow-y-ness, then mow them down with a muramasa and see how many 99 stacks I've just gathered. It's nice coming back and seeing the shroomgrass spread further than it was last trip. Watching the skeletons and slimes run back and forth across the top layer of the farm is pleasing. It's just a generally pleasant practice to perform in between mining hellstone and murdering giant eyeballs. S'nice.

Plus I can supply like five servers with glowing shrooms, if the urge hits me. I've got plenty :P

EDIT: I added three more layers just after postin' the pic, by the by. Will take a while for them to get grass covered, but still, heh. 250 mud stack'll add ~2 1/2 layers for th'farm as-is.
E2: It's got about a quarter of those screens more on each side :P

Spoiler: SHROOMS (click to show/hide)

Less aesthetically pleasing than nenjin's, but I can't complain about the capacity. Most recent harvest netted 318 glowing shrooms and 9 shroom seeds. It's still not at full capacity, too~

Going to use the extra shrooms to add another layer or three. I basically just run through the rows swinging the masa and collect two layers at a time. Very efficient :P

Anyway, that was originally in Acperience's jungle-base server map thing, but I've taken th'map as a second home. Jungle base is much closer to hell and various other interesting things than my first home in another world... and it has a larger shroom farm :P That and I built a fair chunk of th'jungle base anyway, heh.

Yeah... only thing I have to throw in about th'whole 'soon to run out of steam' thing for Terraria is to kinda' point out that T's only been in development since January of this year. 4 1/2 months for ground, up. It's also been out for, what, four days now? And has already have a patch? I'd humbly suggest that bodes well insofar as content, etc, updates are concerned. Some of us are just getting burned out from playing too much :P

It's just entirely too early to speculate with any hopes of accuracy, but what I've been seeing seems to lend more to optimism than anything. These people have been on our radar for basically no time at all, insofar as gaming development goes, and Red's primary previous work is ruddy SMBX. Their team's also just made several hundred thousand dollars, which bodes bloody well for, yanno', hiring more people to get crackin' on code and content.

Let's save the negative outlook for a month from now, then we can quote ourselves on everything turning out like we expected.

In any case, th'game's not over until you've gold plated the jungle and replaced all the blocks in hell with pink dungeon brick. Then you can say you've beat the game :P

Oh god I just fell about a million feet. I have five hearts, no armor, and no accessories, and I survived because I landed on a skeleton.
*fistbumps skeleton* Nice catch!

You let the skeleton live, right? If you can get yourself out of their reach for a bit, they'll turn around and go away.

Muramasa's not junk :P Give it to me then, I wsnt to try that attack speed with feral claws and necro armor :P

You can have it when I get around to getting the fire flail :P

Masa's the best sword, of course, for 90% of the situations in the game, with fiery greatsword + autoclicker coming in second. Fire flail whatsit is best not-nix-blaster weapon, period, from what I've gathered. I want my 40 damage flail!

Yeah, is weird... sometimes, can connect, gets up to a certain percent of tile data and then stops loading more. Is shame, but also is late, so can ditch until th'morning.

Tomorrow afternoon, I make molten pick and hamaxe. Then, it's to some server, collecting similarly equipped people, and then talking them into completely deconstructing a dungeon :P

Today's been fairly profitable, though. Got full hellstone armor and 10 water candles! And some other junk too, I guess. I guess th'muramasa and blue moon count as junk.

The constant mobs in Terraria are annoying. I'm trying to explore, find interesting stuff and I'm having to hold off a horde of demon eyes and zombies that keep knocking me off hills. It's not even a blood moon.

Hahaha, demon eyes and zombies. Those aren't that bad. The problem is places like the dungeons (angry skeletons EVERYWHERE, casters casters argh) and hell (fireimps *shakes fist* Serpents PitA, too, but those imps!).

Anyway, the normal night time stuff is pretty laid back compared to some places in the game. The spawn rate does seem pretty bloody wonky right now, though. Sometimes you'll go an entire night, not see more than 10 zombies, other times you'll have to kill or bypass 20+ just to get past a single bloody screen -- and that's not even on blood moon nights. It's crazy.

And worse in multiplayer.

Insofar as I've been able to tell, the only thing you can't mine with a gold pick is ebonstone.

Anyway, re: Jungle, I went in with silver armor + mining helmet and an enchanted boomerang. Set up a little hornet farming station (4 blocks on left and right of character, two platforms just above), pointed my cursor up, and turned on autohotkey until I basically had full cobalt and enough stingers to make a thorn chakram. Then it was running around killing maneaters for vines and collecting roses until I had enough to finish the chakram and make an ivy whip. The occasional skeleton attack even got me my first hook, so it was all good.

You can set up an even better hornet farming station if do something like so:
Code: [Select]
PP###
OOCC#
#OCC#
#OCC#
#####

P = platform, O = open space, # = block-of-some-sort, C = Character. Then just shoot a rang (or flail-type weapon) out the opening. Can also just swing a sword or pickaxe, but that takes a lot longer. Then you just hold down the button (or toggle autoclick) until loot showers you from the sky.

"Hey, where's the merchant?"

On Aperience's server. Fun times! I tunneled into the jungle with silver armor and an enchanted boomerang :P

If you place water or webs right before it ends it should be fine.

But, but...! Why would you do that? If they don't have the necessary skills to survive the fall, death should be swift and sure!

It's not like it's hard. There's at least four items (hook/vine, h.shoe, cloud) that can stop it, plus you can catch yourself with platforms along the side of the fall as you drop, even put your own cobweb down in midair before you hit (and then recollect it once you're slowed up) -- that one in particular is is a really nice trick. You can actually fit something underneath you mid-fall if you're quick about it. Maybe even carry a few water buckets around with you and pour them into a hole before you jump.

A spicy pitfall is better than some staid old easily survivable one :P

Building a little solid tower-like construction of just shy of 200 blocks definitely causes the sky to start darkening. Gonna' hop over and get the rest of my ebonstone and see if I can get eaters to spawn :P

EDIT: Another ~150 stone and I've got eaters confirmed. Ebonstone causes corruption spawning, but not corruption spread.
EDIT2: *promptly builds a little house on top of the corruption tower for that world's guide*

Though I'm pretty sure that's a large world, I'm also pretty sure anyone's concerns that they might ever run out of room can be safely put to rest.

Actually, I'm 99.9% sure that's a small world. Here's my small world in comparison. In terms of HD space, a small world's png is ~1.3 megs, medium, strangely, only about the same. A large world, however, is 5.41 megs on my computer. It's 8400x2400 resolution! Not sure if that translates into blocks, but... probably. Probably. It'd fit the "few miles wide" thing the devs stated at one point.

I've also uploaded a .zip with a sample of each world to mediafire, here. Would have just linked them, but apparently five meg .pngs make the browsers I use implode when trying to upload them, or something. Everything but the medium one's pretty pristine, and even that one's not been messed with much.

Anyway, from what I gather, if resolution=blocks, each size increases the world by 2100 blocks of width and 600 blocks of height. A large world's dimensions are doubled compared to a small one.

Mm... so, any one else partaking of the map generator thingy? I've used it to find one floating island, and am about to use it to find some more :P
Also good for finding those bloody mushroom patches.

It's pretty awesome just looking at the worlds, though. They're freaking huge! It'll show constructions, if fairly roughly, once they're built, too.
