Worms + open lava pits = worst thing ever.

Just sayin'.

Interesting to see running terraria raw doesn't force an update. Wasn't sure what to expect on that end, heh. Probably go through steam once this mining expedition's done. Probably soon... ran out of torches a couple times already :-\

I'm guessing you did that by...

Yup. I actually built a line of air pockets that way, leading down until I hit the deepest part.

I bet you wish you had flippers.

I do have flippers :P

It's just quicker to make your own air pockets than swim up to the surface, once you get deep enough. Plus, it takes less air to get back to where you're digging than slowly sinking your way from the surface of the water.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Any suggestions for what to do next? Yes, that's the ocean. Flooding the underworld seems like the obvious choice :P

Interesting observation, though. There's stuff beyond the border of the map, you just can't see it or move toward it. You can actually mine it, though, and stuff will spawn 'offscreen'. Slimes come from the bottom of the ocean, hrm. Mutant jellyfish?

Usually easier to just dig around the water, or make little tubes reaching to whatever you're trying to get. You can build on the side of the wall that's submerged, full the area in your reach with blocks, then mine out the inside core. Leaves a dry path, basically zero risk.

Alternately, dynamite :P

STRIKE THE EARTH

Or plainswalk, I guess. Servers, right now, is mostly a "see who puts up info" thing. Aklyion's got one up, or did a little while ago.

Seriously though, get the autohotkey thing and just dig. It usually doesn't take too long to hit something interesting.

Re: Spawn point: Build a NPC-viable room. Put bed in room. Right click on bed. Supposedly that works. Haven't tried it yet. Only bed I have I submerged under water.

It doesn't seem to. On the flip side, on the first page of this thread is some autohotkey script stuff. The second one, I think, works just fine for me.

In other news, I've seen 'dark chill', but has anyone seen "A horrible chill goes down your spine."?

Because that's what I got when I bombed my first shadow orb, just now. My hind brain is going FFFFFFFF--

I found a crystal heart before I found any chests :P

Found the second one ~3 squares away from my first chest. Forget if I've found a third yet or not, heh.

Could shortcut the eye by spelunking until you find a chest with dynamite in it. My medium-world single-player dude's already managed that, huhuhu.

Then it's just a gold piece per orb, usually. Two sticks of dynamite to bust through. You only need gold to mine the meteors, unless that changed recently...

EDIT: Ninja Frumple is watching you explicate.

No, no, Aqi might have had an anvil, and just not been close enough to it, instead. No anvil was the most likely culprit, though.

You... might need an anvil. Most expensive in bars for copper is, uh, either the helm or the chain, I forget precisely which. Anyway, it's like 30 bars at max for whichever one it is.

almost all of the technical issues right now are in multiplayer. For the vast majority, SP is running great.

And once your dude(tte)'s kitted out in single player, you can haul the critter off to someone's server and wreck unholy havoc enjoy a calm and relaxing co-op building experience punctuated by giant eyeballs, giant DOOMSKELETONS, and unending hordes of small green arsekickers. in peace and harmony and random dynamite explosions.

Ain't Terraria grand?

EDIT: Tried Aklyon's server. Got on, lost connection in <1 minute :P Actually kicked my connection so hard I had to go through a repair cycle on the wireless, heh.

As a side note, has anyone tossed dynamite into a large body of water, yet? It's got a pretty incredible visual effect :P

The short answer: Support it more.

The somewhat-longer answer: The devs have stated they expect to be continuing to support, enhance, and expand Terraria for at least a few more years. Paraphrased, they intend to continue to build upon the game for as long as there's a community that wants them to.

They're definitely going to iron out the various bugs that have popped up with/around release and finish fleshing out the current biomes in the immediate future.

Yeah, or just add another line of stone to th'thing. Probably do that, when I get back up there.

E: Chest had magic mirror :D

I think your problem there is that the blocks you've placed fall in the middle of the "wall" tiles, rather than where they meet. If you make your room wider by 1 block on each side, and higher/lower by 1, it should cover the "cracks".

Although I'm not positive.

Nah, that's just how non-identical wall tiles interact, in any situation. It's harder to notice when you're dealing with, say, dungeon or brick back walls, as they're more flush, but stuff like dirt and stone with that little gap border makes it really noticeable. Probably a thing-that-will-be-fixed, eventually.

E: Wait. Yes, putting blocks will cover up the cracks. I just don't like doing that, heh.

EDIT2: There was another chest within viewing distance. It also had a magic mirror :-\

And dynamite :P

EDIT3: !!! There was a third chest, within view of the second chest. That chest, had flippers! Huzzah!
