Don't see the dyrad in there, so apparently no little old lady. Though... not really that little. Everyone in Terraria is 6 foot tall (counting the hair). Still, 500 counts as old, right? That's five centuries. Lady's doing alright for a quintuple centenarian.

So I made this shack here and I have the 50 silver coin requirement for a merchant, but one has yet to move in. Is the guide taking up the shack?

And do npcs occupy multiple story buildings? If they don't the Guide probably IS taking up the shack.

Make the shack bigger. From what I've read, the NPCs can be a little finicky about required height and width. NPCs move into multi-story buildings just fine, providing the rooms can support them.

Well i guess if the map is that big then there will be plenty of each biome to enjoy. =)

Re-iterating, because it can pretty much always stand re-iteration. The maps are freaking huge. The biomes, which make up significant fractions of the maps, are sized accordingly. It's hard to really get a feel for how gigantic these maps are from just watching someone play, or seeing the screenshots. The amount that a single screen shows, in respect to the whole map, is terribly small. You don't really get a feel for the size until you watch someone tunnel nonstop for 15-20 minutes and not breach into another layer of the map. Even the small worlds are sized for multiplayer. They're made to support 4+ people.

It's pretty incredible.

Will the demonite hammer take out the dirt layer back walls? Because that's the sticking point in this version I think. All those walls are flagged as unbreakable. But I'll go experiment some more.

For th'dirt, you have to work your way from an outside edge, it's as simple as that. You can drag a single line of open space to where'er you feel like building and work from there. The layer below the dirt works too, iirc. Any hammer at all will work for that. Interestingly, dynamite will take out the back walls on dungeons, but not the actual dungeon blocks. They're explosion immune.

and worlds start at a few kilometers wide with 1 block= 1 meter 2 feet

Fixed that for yeh. As for the size question, you get to choose the size of a world when you make it. You can have multiple worlds and swap between them pretty freely, as well. It actually gives the game kinda' a planeswalker vibe, with this critter of surpassing power and (effective) immortality moving back and forth between universes, harvesting their resources and shaping them to the walker's will. It's kinda neat.

How heigh high for them?
Seems to depend on the world size, actually. ~350-450 for small worlds, not sure for medium/large.

EDIT: Nen, I've seen the dungeon back walls smashed with my own two eyes. It might require a high tier hammer, though, dunno. The demonite hammer definitely works.

^ In the Pbat's it is implemented that and buying large stacks from the merchant works also.

Folks have mentioned it elsewhere, if folks here haven't, ah, noticed. You can rightclick and hold on items in an NPC shop to buy large stacks. If you pick up a stack already in your inventory, and do the click'n'hold, it'll add to the existing stack. Only thing click and hold doesn't work with in th'leaked version, from what I've read, is crafting.

Repeat click would be most useful for most of the swords, and varying non-auto ranged weapons (bow, 'rangs). Toggling repeat click would probably be most useful for mining, but less so for combat -- timing your attacks, especially with the slower weapons or th'rangs, is a major combat multiplier, from what I've been seeing.

In other news, I just recently saw someone rapid-toggle between boomerangs and get more than one in the air at the same time. Might be interesting thing to do if you've got a few spare chakram/flamarangs.

Although most important is that we keep things motherfucking chill bro :oD

At least until monday, when we start raining dynamite and lava on each others precious buildings. Then we can proceed with the raeg.

E: Pre-empting: Underground buildings get the Eater of Worlds kited to them.

Yeah... warmongering slaver cannibals have trouble holding the high moral ground. The tree thing's just a fetish, and not by the older definition of the term.

Yeah, Redigit's openly said he's not done much in the form of formal schooling in programming, etc. A few tries at it early on, but found it not really a match for him and went on his merry way. I'm not entirely sure if he even has an AA, much less bachelors or higher (or whatever other-place equivalents are, hum...), at least not in comp-sci stuff.

From what I understand, most folks are rockin' the hamachi. I think some have managed to just go about using the program's native stuff, but I haven't exactly been paying attention to the MP portion, yet. Mostly just all the delightful news that's streaming in due to events, heh.

Yeah... someone or another found a really easy way to deal with knockback before finding a cobalt shield. Grapple yourself to the floor. As long as you're not relying on dodging to survive, the problem is solved.

Also, everything I've been reading says it's the hornets that drop the jungle weapons. Murdermudermuder, etc.
