Well. Presumably possible for everyone to own a username-whatsit, just not a computer and the ability to actually play th'thing, or access to the infrastructure for the latter two.

I'unno if people in a persistent vegetative state could be considered to own anything, though, and there's people who are considered legally incapable of owning anything for whatever reason... plenty more considerations along those lines. Is it even possible to for a limbless blind/deaf person to play Minecraft?

It really isn't possible for every individual human to own Minecraft. A significant portion, though...

Quote from: wikipedia Nox article
Shortly after the 1.2 patch release, Westwood Studios (which is a subset of EA) lost full rights of Nox to EA, which then took over "development"[citation needed]. EA chose to no longer support Nox, and the official Westwood servers for Clan, Ladder and Standard multiplayer were closed, as well as the online ladder ranking system.

However, tentative searching shows there's apparently some other servers lurking around. Check here, I guess.

That... still isn't helping much. For playing them? Making them? If there's a program for making RLs for any OS, I'd bloody well like to hear about it, because I've certainly never heard of one before. Certainly there's plenty of RLs that run in linux. A great number of them are developed in linux.

In the mean time, go here. It's almost certainly been mentioned somewhere else in this thread, but whatever. There's a few engines and library-type stuff available to aid in RL development, but that's the closest you're going to get for a 'program'.

Sounds more like demon souls, or whatever that was, really. Nox was more or less solo in the single player stuff and... no temple knights. Multiplayer was a freaking blast. Force of Nature + Iron Golem = Love.

Invocations, evocations, spellcasting, yes. These are the marks of the hybrid.

I'unno, maybe it's a stat thing. Pure Int dudes don't really need anything besides int. Pure dex ones have stabbing and stealth, which get borderline broken at higher levels. Pure strength gets... armor, which has only just become non-crap again, and melee/crossbows, neither of which is going to get you through the game without god-aid.

I really doubt anyone here would be disappointed if most everything besides th'spellcasting/invocation/evocation skills recieved some sort of emergent abilities as they reach higher levels. Spellcasters get new abilities (spells), invokers and evokers get new and more reliable ones. Everyone else gets jack. Well, they get better at what they had, but they get nothing new. That's kinda' boring, and inequitable in comparison.

It's not like it's something massively difficult to implement into a RL. I can name at least a half-dozen that does it right off the top of my head (Heng, T4, Steamband, Incursion, Dungeonmans, Caves of Qud) and there's more beside. All we'd really like to see, I'd think, is stuff like mighty blow, maybe a charge attack or short-range pierce or crap, yanno'? Something so we get more than +1 to hit/dam and some speed improvement from getting another level of Axes, while the fire-spitting dude gets to puke fireballs out 'is arse for the same gain.

It's kinda' th'point being made though, innit'? That a character can't get by without dipping into mystical mumbo jumbo.

At the very least, I'd be interested to see if someone can survive using strictly consumable resources. No god-granted abilities, no magic spells, no rods/staves. Only wands, scrolls, and potions -- and those only because survival without isn't even worth considering as a possibility.

Oopsihittee's Disease: It's a rare form of Tourette's Syndrome wherein the afflicted individual occasionally throws grenades at individuals with whom they intend to converse.

Is that a mutation defect I see?

32, I think, is the highest stat requirement at the moment. That's 8 points from the highest starting amount, which comes out to level 24 or so for being able to unlock them, barring mutations which may allow you get them earlier. You get 1 attribute point every 6 levels starting at level 3, and +1 to all stats every six levels starting at level six. So say Int -- you start with 24. Level 3, you put one point in for 25, level 6 all goes up by one for 26, then 9/27, 12/28, 15/29, 18/30, 21/31, 24/32.

It's certainly possible, heh.

Interesting as to the auto-inject thing, though. I wasn't able to do that, last time I tried it, and it's not working for me now, either.

Have just now learned it's apparently possible to fire your weapons and reload, etc, while frozen.

A character before that, I learned that goatfolk shaman apparently just have random mental mutations. Met one with th'fugue. It didn't end well for me. It did end with like 5 purple gs on the screen.

E: Are there no unfinished/pre-release, non-defect, mutations? Clicking on th'unfinished stuff shows a couple new defects, but nothing else...

E2: Re: Esper/chimera blocking mental/physical defects, respectively: No, that's just started up with th'pointbuy stuff. Previously, you could roll up a chimera or whathaveyou with a mental defect. I'm currently looking at a chimera with blinking tic, back in the first public version.

What? Turn-based most definitely can allow you to outrun pursuers. Just have to let th'player move faster/further than the non-players.

I'd love to see someone go ASCII-demake on Recettear, turn based and everything. It's already a sorta-RL, so it wouldn't take much to go the rest of the way.

They limit random mutation gain (via unstable genome or purchase) to mental or physical mutations. This can be useful if you're specifically building, say, a high ego mutant and want to take advantage of th'mutation level boost involved by buying several additional mental mutations. Taking esper would make sure there's no chance of getting a physical mutation that wouldn't benefit you terribly. Alternately, a low-ego mutant might want to keep their purchased mutations limited to physical only ones.

Previously, they gave +1 to their respect stat groups.

Have a care, especially with those sowers; deem goatbuggers are a serious step up from snapjaws :-\

Probably wasn't a double-lair, though. Sometimes you just get a boss monster wandering around where'er. Ran into plenty of purple snapjaws just walking around the worldmap.

While I know th'various boss titles (Gutspiller and firesnarler on snapjaws, ferex.) seem to have set bonuses they apply to critters, I couldn't tell yeh what they all do -- except firesnarlers. Those set you on fire.
