Setup the Freefall tower with a WP. /wp Jack_Thejil Freefall. There's a freaking huge cavern about halfway down that's still mostly unexplored. Should be plenty of iron and junk if anyone wants it.

EDIT: By freaking huge I mean g'damn ridiculously large. Largest cavern system I've ever seen.

Freefall tower in good-ish shape. Teleportation and regenerating picks make digging to the bedrock much, much faster.

Folks are welcome to build along the outside, or along the inside (inside the caves, etc), so long as the current hole is left as is. Various buildings alongside the stairway -- and, yanno', actual stairs -- would be awesome.

Gonna' have to keep working on it, though probably not much until next weekend, heh.

Any ideas on what the glowing yellow stuff does?

Digging down in the Nether is apparently a bad idea.

Very dwarfish thing down there, it seems. Is there more than the

Nemelex would give you firepower and survivability, but largely at the cost of potential food -- you need to sac corpses to tilt the deck odds toward summoning. Also utility spells, and ogres get to sac most armor to Nemmy (but defense decks are mostly worthless :-\).

Kiku would solve any future food problem. If you could pick up a corpse-eating summon spell (Simulacrum, animate dead, etc.), firepower and survivability again. The torment/corpse thing probably wouldn't be as useful to you as it would be to mummy/ghoul/vampire. Lichform, maybe, but ogre's -3 to all non-spellcasting magic skills...

All that mumbled, Nemelex is hax. Go with Nemelex unless you plan on hitting places without edible people to carve up and omnomnom on.

If the question is still relevant...

I'm debating on whether to go with the +1 +1orcish war axe of venom, or the +2 +0 demon trident of chaos.

"You hit the Iron Troll! The Iron Troll goes berserk! You hit the Iron Troll! The Iron Troll is healed!"1

Chaos weapons are the kiss of death. The only reason you should even remotely consider using it is to keep Xom happy. I still wouldn't suggest it. The trident will eventually cause your death if something else doesn't get to you first. You don't want to be sitting next to a berserk Lernaean Hydra.

Can't say I'm entirely sure, but there's been at least one large scale military agreement (Re: Hague Convention) that banned their use by military, so someone's apparently figured it out.

Googling now, 'cause this actually interests me. I'd imagine a fragmentary bullet could manage to put something poisonous on the inside, but how else you'd go about it I'm not sure.

EDIT: Seeing a number of tertiary references to poisoned bullets, but nothing direct yet. Apparently mercury can be used, somehow?

E2: Oh hey, American Civil War reference: "Some of these parties retain the bullets, which prove beyond doubt that such death-dealing missils were used by the Federal army. Says Mr. Hayden 'The bullet was in two parts, one hollowed out and the other also hollow, being encased in the larger and containing the poison, the latter being loose would slip out and remain in the body or pass through leaving its poison.'"

WW1, I believe: "Moreover, the shrapnel bullets, instead of being smooth, were especially holed and dented. When analysed by a French Government chemist the coloured powder was found to consist of a mixture of white and red phosphorus. The holes in th bullets were designed to carry the chemicals into wounded bodies."

I guess that's enough searching. Poisoned bullets, ladies and gents.

Yeah... Jessica can be dangerous if she's got a nasty wand or somethin', but usually isn't much of a threat. You can run into her as the third or so enemy in the 10 rune Sprint map and usually take 'er down with a first level character, often without even having to down a speed potion or somethin'. Large rocks (troll/ogre hunters) can one-shot her pretty easily. She's really not particularly dangerous in the grand scheme o'things.

Unless she decides to haste up and spam pain at you. Then, you've got a pretty good chance of dying. Pain hurts at level one.

Search feature is your friend.

Actual miniatures too expensive for poor self. Supposedly something electronic that can do stoof online, or something. Too lazy to find out, but would sorta' like to know more. Better question for actual W40k topic, honestly. Or just plain searching, since it's came up before.

Mummy can't stack the regen near as high as a living critter, though. No access to non-item regen :-\

Unless Trog's Hand works on them. Might have to check that out one of these days...

Dual-ring Troll Chaos Knight of Makky with a little necromancy (for regeneration) would probably be the best you can get so far as passive HP recovery goes, barring regen artifacts. I think randarts can nab up regen without being a ring of, at least.

Anyway, the good thing about not-troll regeneration is that it only ups your hunger rate when you're regenerating, not when you're just sitting around. Probably why additional regeneration isn't terribly noticeable on a troll. The MDFi I have sitting around somewhere finds even a single ring pretty noticeable, if a non-issue due to gourmand amulet.

Again, yeah, multiple sources of regen stack -- or at least I'm pretty sure they do. Two rings give more regen than one, two and troll leather give even more, stack the regeneration spell/trog's hand/demonspawn death noming mutation for yet another boost. Iirc, the returns are diminishing, though.

And of course, the hunger increase keeps going up.

Yeah, the rings do. It's the troll leather armor that doesn't do anything for trolls, iirc.

Stick ranger had a thread pop up not too long ago (EDIT: Longer than I thought. 8 pages and twenty-ish days back). The falling sand stuff's been mentioned in passing, I do believe, just not in relation to that site specifically. Most of the rest of it hasn't received much attention here, so far as I've noticed.

Some interesting stuff, though, for all that it's in java. Shame I can't seem to log in for some reason, though. Keeps me from playing Stick Ranger more :-\

Actually tried that, now that I check up on it. What little I managed to play (The game bends my computer over its knee and forcibly violates the poor calculator box.) was a kinda' piss-poor console port. I always get massively annoyed when my PC game tells me to press the triangle button :-\ Which was sadden, 'cause I had been informed it was supposed to have a vaguely Ogre Battle-like combat system. Gods alive, but I want to see another game like that.

Seemed like the gameplay itself had potential, I'll admit. <5 FPS doesn't agree with cutscenes, unfortunately. Was it any good?
