Not as near as I've been able to tell, if that's even what's going on. Tea's fine, cooking's fine. Ice is okay, I think... don't actually use ice much at all.

It's now reached the point I'm literally dreaming about new ogre battle style games being published.

Not even dreaming about playing them, dreaming about finding them on store shelves and/or online shops. Just that. My dream brain is producing goddamn steam store pages in wan ogrelust.

Orgia Story, you don't exist and your name sounds like cheap porn, now that I type you out, though the actual term would make a damn good plot foundation, good job dream brain, as well as totally let you still use queen lyrics as a subtitle, seven seas of rhye fitting entirely too well, ferex, but I apparently wish you did :-\

Uvulitus* sucks :-\

* Dangly thing in your throat swelling up. Third time in my life I've had this happen, and I'm becoming increasingly suspicious I've somehow managed to unluck into a rare condition related to it; I have, like, no other symptoms I can detect, just like the last two times. No fever, not really a sore throat, etc. This is apparently a thing that happens, but... rarely -- almost always the swelling is related to or concurrent with other symptoms. With little research into it, 'cause it doesn't happen to many people and it's usually not life threatening or anything, just annoying and painful. Incidentally, this is annoying and painful.

... but yeah, kinda' looks like my uvula, specifically, is somehow mildly allergic to something in tap water. Thursday I drank some from a fridge dispenser, friday there were mild sore throat symptoms, today it's very clearly the dangly thing swollen up again. The last two times I had this were also concurrent with drinking from a tap (though those times were over a longer period... I had thought I'd be okay if I wasn't drinking it for a few days), which I was mostly avoiding just in case (and hadn't had an issue with it for like a decade), but... here I am, again. Third time and enemy action and whatnot...

a cat unintentional is fine too, ah ha ha

it would have been pretty cunning stealth innuendo, tho'

something to remember!

2871
... I. Was the little whispers asking for death stealth innuendo? Kill the little whispers for a little death?

I can't tell if that was intentional and now it's bothering me :-\

e: though it's probably the sleep deprivation and throat issues combining to see things that aren't actually there, I'unno

in mostly unrelated, thread apropos news, this decaf cinnamon/vanilla tea with a generous bit of clover honey is remarkably good

Realistically, they're more likely to shoot family, lose the weapon to the burglar and get shot, or just get shot first, from what's pretty well known at this point. Panic is a hell of a drug -- the sort of drug that makes you real goddamn terrible at handling a firearm.

The statistics on home defense like that aren't exactly great for the resident :-\

Ah. Yeah, I... still haven't actually read the whole thing, so I hadn't seen the previous fusion dance, heh.

Ree was last active back in december, last posted mid-november. Ain't no tellin', hopefully the plague didn't get them.

2877
... wouldn't that 1 in 700 still be a significant improvement over the rates for the plague?

I mean, you'd hope, and supporting folks in this particular case go a fair bit out of their way to make sure they're not driving around... but they both still have valid licenses, despite one having reached the point of literal pants on head. Legally there's not actually much we could do to stop them if they seriously got it in their head to get behind a wheel (assuming the keys hadn't been... dealt with... anyway) and couldn't be dissuaded.

Elderly support networks in a lot of places are also staggeringly shit, which can pretty easily mean people that really, really shouldn't be driving around or doing much of anything in public unsupervised... do. Sometimes have to to not just starve to death. So... y'know. Don't actually know how probable that probably actually is :-\

... it takes five days to pack? I'd expect more like... an afternoon, going back to a college dorm. S'what it tended to be for me, iirc. Bedding, couple weeks of clothes, electronics and any food/drinks/hygiene junk, whatever paperwork type cruft is needed... took a few hours to roll up, but that's about it. Maybe a full day if stuff needs to be washed, first, but...

Pretty sure it's still like that years later, actually. Except I have less clothes (I own roughly one week's worth and that's pretty much it) and more paperwork. Can fit more or less everything I own in, like, a car's passenger seat, though, especially if I go easy on the bedding.

I'm currently living with one elderly with mid stage dementia and another showing signs of early. I fucking wish they were pretending just to screw with people. I wish so fucking hard that was actually true.

I've also seen zero indication it is true, unfortunately. It would take acting skills beyond anything I've ever seen and well beyond any they demonstrated in the years prior, with a consistency to keep doing it even when they're not aware that people are around, for months/years straight, all on top of a staggeringly wild shift in personality.

Age past a certain point just... ruins a lot of people, is about the best way I can describe it. It hollows out everything they were and leaves an incomplete shell that occasionally shits itself. In the process it often terrorizes, frustrates, and confuses what's left, leaving regularly unpleasant husks behind. The only thing worse than living around it is living it :-\
