Bet it includes suicides and indirect deaths too.
Probably not? Half a million dead people is a lot of friends and family, even in a population of three hundred million. Human connections being what they are, you probably don't need to draw from indirect deaths to get a third of the country losing someone fairly close to them.

Managed to avoid it so far, personally, but more than one of my (less than two dozen) co-workers haven't, so, y'know.

Breath of the Wild on PC?
From a few days ago, but there's apparently a working Wii-U emulator (cemu), that checking its wiki can run BotW to completion without too much trouble. It's not officially released PC side or nothin'.

Hey, they're apparently finding it's not satan's throbbing dong these days, from what I've been picking up. More recent studies on rent control seem to be getting much more "it depends" findings than the whole "literally the devil sodomizing your first born" that used to be the general consensus. Be interesting to see how things go on that front going forward, heh.

(response to removed post removed)

you can also just cheat. Give yourself some extra health, more perks, slow the game down when you're in a region that's giving you trouble, etc.

Noita's still plenty fun when you're doing stuff the game would rather you not be doing, heh.

I mean, I want a full (40 hour/week) time (hell, most part time, too) job to provide a living wage, if we're not going to go full universal income or comprehensive welfare.

15$ minimum wouldn't actually do that in a lot of places stateside, but it'd damn sure help at the moment. If we unfuck things later in a way that makes dropping it reasonable, then hell, do that. Right now things are pretty fucked, though, and it's probably easier to make shit remuneration less shit than to reign in profit junk.

... not that it's easy, mind. It's too fucking obviously not easy, at the mo', despite massive public support for it.

Oh hey, I, Dracula: Genesis is half off (8 bucks USD, for me) until the 18th. It's a pretty damn good twinstick gungeon like thing with a fairly (if not entirely*) unique aesthetic. If there's a notable downside, it's that it's fairly difficult in places (e.g. I just died in the tutorial :V), but overall it's pretty neat. Early access, but already more or less feature complete and winnable and whatnot.

* The thing's weirdly reminiscent of the old game Chaos Engine in terms of art style, which isn't exactly a bad thing.

Eh... I was intrigued with the demo to start, but meh by the time I put it down. Neat stuff involved, but the basic resource grind felt very grindy after a bit. It's nice to watch a quick run via vid, but actually playing feels... eh. Let someone else sink the time in, y'know?

well, more like if I actually got my hands on it I'd probably pretty promptly memory edit the resource gathering part away, but eh

I'm not saying WoW didn't deserve to win out the MMO wars, its just after a while people stopped try to compete with it altogether.  And then arguably WoW started to stagnate.
Like... they didn't, though. WoW style MMOs have never stopped coming out, and MMORPGs of other sorts have been a steady drumbeat this whole time. They've mostly failed to meaningfully compete, sure, but that's not the same as not trying, yeah?

I... muds still see active development, though? They're not a huge community or anything, but it's not like they disappeared.

Pretty sure we're still seeing open world MMOs ala Ultima Online, too, actually. They're just not as popular; among other reasons, there's other stuff around, which means folks don't have to deal with the crappy bits of that sort of design, heh. Options freeing a formerly pseudo-captive audience, ha.

oh lol

GOP malfeasance appears to have fucked them; that horseshit ten hour overnight bill read intended to delay plague relief led to present dems voting to reduce the overall consideration time from 20 hours to 3, with not enough scumshit republicans left in the chamber to stop it -- estimation I've seen is that (due to the overnight horseshit not happening during normal hours) the GOP's delaying sabotage crap just accelerated the relief bill by like two full days.

Here's hoping it's as good a thing as it looks like, ahaha!

I mean... yeah, I've definitely seen worse in my local than those pics, at the very least. So hey, it's better than rural florida probably-should-be-condemned, if that makes you feel any better about the situation :P

... makes me wonder if I'll ever get around to actually finishing the trilogy, that. Idly wonder with a side of "probably not", though. I remember the third bit being staggeringly boring; I dropped it part way through and never finished. Hobbit was pretty good stuff, at least :P

Eeehhh... I mean. It's PSX, originally. *coughs like it's 9/19*

Can't recall anything offhand that meets the criteria of sci-fi+crafting+end-game absurdity, though. It's ringing a bell for some reason, but I can't remember why :-\

Publishers do shit like this on the regular, though. Stuff goes out of print or publishers stop printing them all the bloody time, for all sorts of reasons up to and including, "Yeah, this had some odious crap we don't want to print anymore". This has been true for literal centuries. It's not exactly super dangerous.

voila straight from the librarist's mouth
Hell, it's probably worth noting that, even with the raging tire fire that is copyright law, archival libraries in particular have an expanded mandate in what they can just copy more or less at will, on top of the tools to do so. If somehow these specific items winnow down to just archival copies, when they start to wear with time they'll just... be copied anyway, to keep one around.

Those dr seuss books are littered through libraries (including archival and academic ones) and available as ebooks and crap.

They're not slipping anywhere except from active printing :P
