Eyup. One of the reasons it sucks donkey balls in a lot of cases. Still, free market doesn't mean total insulation from the consequences of pissing off people; it just means certain people have structurally outsized input in a conversation, even if they normally don't speak up much.

Pretty sure I've ran into a few folks that were more or less male/female but still preferred they just because it's less trouble overall, though. Some that'll prefer something that "mismatches" just to screw with people. Etc. So it happens.

... personally I just don't care much. They tends to be easier, I present male in most ways so he is most common, but I get gendered as female regularly due to my name and vocal preferences (pitch shifting down far enough to be easily recognized as male takes more effort than I can usually be bothered with) -- so much and so constantly for so long I'm well past the point of giving a fuck about being called m'am or whatever. So like, whatever, y'know?

The part where dongman is the only person with a face is definitely a... thing. It's like reverse hentai. Also fairly surreal/horrifying.

Didn't even realize there was an anime for it coming out. The LN or whatever it is is pretty adorable (airheaded red in tooth and claw with status screens is apparently my jam, it turns out), and the manga I managed to get ordered for the place I work was pretty nice, so... might actually see about checking it out. Been a while since I watched much animated...

... as for something of more actual substance, not entirely sure the latter were all incidental or exactly nonviolent, either, though. They certainly weren't incidental to the attack, and at the absolute least the ones induced by self-inflicted taser and reaction to a flashbang, iirc, are questionably nonviolent. They just weren't due to direct trauma (caused by someone else, I guess) of some sort.

Though, uh. Was the junk zapper actually confirmed? Had heard about that, but at the time folks were saying the particular area tazed was rumored but not actually confirmed.

The budget for that specific building/compound (+the library of congress) is something like $100 USD per square meter per year, yeah. Around half a billion annually to (fail to, it seems) protect about two square miles. With a personnel count of around 2k officers with normal jurisdiction over it.

Apparently a lot of them were put off duty for that day... some of them joining in on the coup attempt that's left a cop and four rioters dead, of course.
