Walk out into the yard to check something, end up with cat orbitals on way back in. Felines equidistant on three sides, maintaining same speed. Frumple's morning involved spontaneous shmup cosplay, I guess.

2020 being what it is I think I'm just glad they didn't start launching missiles at something coming over the horizon...

Lost most of it, but woke up as mirko from hero academia was starting to attempt to seduce morticia and gomez addams. Had the hots for the former, people were like, you know they happily married right, mirko just like, that's okay, I'll get both of 'em.

No goddamn clue why they were in the same world or why the rabbit chick was intent on that, though. Definitely disappointed the dream ended before anything in particular actually happened, though. That would have made for either good poly romcom or good porn, one of the two :P

Dunno about nightmare, but trump being stricken by grief over someone else dying definitely involves some sort of dreamscape or hallucination.

Now, lying about it as an excuse to start shit with china, now you're getting closer to reality.

Yeah, that... isn't a surprise, save maybe that it seems to be suggesting peace and freedom and transhumanist are actual political parties. If they are I hadn't noticed :V

Might check out Urtuk, I think. It's closest to battle brothers in that list, but there's definitely a higher level of individual badassery. It's also fairly lenient with deaths... characters don't necessarily die when they're killed, but instead take wounds, which can be healed with a specific resource. Dying while wounded is permadeath, and wounds will get worse if untreated, but it's a relatively gentle system.

Combat wise there mostly isn't RNG. Stuff tends to either work or not work depending on clearly designated triggers, with about the only exceptions being crits (sorta', there's lots of stuff that interact there), cover, or some support mechanics.

While there have been cases of misconduct on the part of the police, it is important not to exaggerate matters. A lot of cops are doing good work and of course that never makes the news - only the worst excesses do.
Cops doing good (or "good", in the case of shit that's still pretty abusive, but liked by many people, like erasing the presence of homeless folks) makes the news bloody constantly, on top of being standard fair for cop themed media, which is very much prevalent. If you don't notice it, either things are wildly different where you're at (extreme doubt, as I've seen that shit in person or reading local sources from literally one coast to the other in this country), or they're the default to such a degree it doesn't even register as notable.

Meanwhile, while some of the worst excesses make the news, lots and lots of the lesser abuses -- the harassment, the profiling, the evidence planting, theft, and so on and on and on -- only rarely does and even when it does, often receives little remark and less accountability or reform.

Cops get plenty of good PR. Way more than they fucking deserve, especially given how much of their "good" work immiserates the community it's inflicted on. It's just reaching the point they're collectively a pile of shit so huge even decades of media and news carrying water for them left, right, and center is starting to wear thin.

I've reached a fairly interesting equilibrium with a character somewhere in the day 200s -- basically my army can beat just about any one enemy army (and my main character is spending most of their time beating people to death unarmed to save on repair costs :P) I've encountered... but the trick is outside the bandit clan type factions you don't actually fight those, especially not fast enough to finish before reinforcements come in.

So I've hit the point I can beat any similarly sized opponent I'm finding, sometimes even twice that number, but proper knock-down drag out late-game fights don't have those kinds of fights. You get in a dustup with random character N and before the fight's over five of their friends have shown up and now you're up against 3-400 enemies, ha.

It's a pretty neat state to be in, actually. Piggybacking on proper faction fights is also quite nice, since you'll participate in fights with actually thousands of troops waiting in the wings. It's delightfully hectic.

Had one pretty amusing one last night, where I stepped in to help out a random civilian group that was getting attacked by the desert brotherhood or something, and part way through I got reinforcements. Which was neat until we thoroughly trounced the bandits and it turns out the "help" was someone that hated me and a few of their friends, who immediately turned around and ganked me :P

... I reloaded to a day or two prior to that after seeing the options were "lose >50% of my gold by surrendering" or "lose even more gold, a quarter or so of my inventory, and rack up a huge number of injuries from losing the fight". Gotta' be careful where you're fighting if you know hostile folks are loitering around!

Depends on the state :-\

Generally anything that happens in your house you're clear to record, at least, though sometimes you have to have some sort of clear warning if people not living there/you are involved. Outside gets more complicated and depends on state and local ordinances, and often enough isn't legal to some extent or another (especially if minors get involved somehow). Talk to a local lawyer, etc., etc., etc. You could theoretically ask the local cops, too, just framing it as wanting to catch someone you suspect might be stealing from you or whatever, but frankly they often don't actually know what the hell the law is and generally aren't legally culpable for just straight up fucking lying to you about the subject (or any subject), so, y'know. Ask a lawyer.

That said, I haven't heard of anything that actually managed to stick charges or otherwise penalize someone for recording a cop doing things on the job, especially not outside their actual, like, office or something. There's been attempts but so far as I can recall the courts have told the cops or whoever to fuck off.

Sands of Salazar has its factions run around and conquer each other.

Basically, like. Any grand strategy game probably counts. Stuff like the X3 games I think has it? Space rangers, I think drox operative. The last federation has it as a key mechanic, chunks of your time is spent manipulating the factions involved.

Pretty sure there's plenty I'm forgetting, games trying to have dynamic faction mechanics aren't really that uncommon, the bigger question is how bad they are at it :P

I've been playing it for the last day or so. It's definitely neat, but also definitely pretty janky in some areas. Balance et al and general mechanical smoothness could use some work, mostly. Translation's also kinda' iffy in places, if mostly plenty functional and far from the worst I've seen.

In any case, easy starting tip: Beastmaster, despite being called harder than most other starting classes, is by and away the easiest starting class I've seen of the six or seven I've tried. 0 cost AoE on tap, massive regen, powerful starting troops. Its wolf form is busted (huge regen with a few skill points, even better AoE than base, lifesteal aura to support troops), its eagle form can perma-lock huge swathes of enemies for its duration (i.e. it's busted strong), its dragon form is a friggin' dragon with even stupider HP regen and AoE damage. I have literally no idea why it's listed as harder when it crushes basically everything else from the starting line and largely doesn't let up. If you want something to ease you into exploring the game, go beastmaster.

Or in other words, they did a no-knock raid on a location they had no legitimate reason to suspect the person they were actually after was at. That turned out to be the wrong fucking place after they were done illegitimately invading it and killing someone living there.

Pretty sure that's what you call the wrong address.

What law enforcement needs to do is stop busting down peoples' doors in the middle of the night (if they aren't presumed to be a danger to themselves or others.) It was wrong when the FBI did it to Roger Stone, and it was wrong when the police did it to Breonna Taylor.
Or rather, that plus when it happens anyway, they need to be fucking pancaked under civil and criminal penalties (personal ones, on top of a mound of shit dropped on their department), plus probably never work in law enforcement or security positions again.

You'd see less of this horseshit if there were any goddamn consequences at all for it, and it's blatantly obvious the police don't want there to be.

Quote from: From a let's read of some of HP Lovecraft's work
Fun fact: Lovecraft came to The United Amateur's attention after the editor read a letter Lovecraft had written to another fiction magazine, complaining about how empty and insipid their romance stories were. Lovecraft's letter provoked a storm of responses from both defenders of those stories, and those who agreed with him, and apparently United Amateur's head honcho thought Lovecraft showed promise as a writer based on his critique. UA reached out to him, and "The Alchemist" received its first printing.

In other words, Lovecraft first got published by starting a flame war in the comments section.
Got a chuckle from me, anyway. The read thing itself you can find by googling that last sentence with quotes around it.

I just installed AdBlock. Let's see, if it works.
Also, I have 23 tabs running right now.
I have over a hundred (opera's counter runs out at 99 so it just reads [...] now) just on my tablet. There's more on the laptop proper. Think another few dozen between the two browsers I use at work. If you count the hibernating laptop I use as a mousepad, its old opera session still has two or three hundred open, iirc. Keep going, you'll get there eventually :V

Rol's got the right idea, really.

Is it at least local assholes most of the time, or do you get to deal with trump as a commercial subject more often than not?

Actually, even if they are largely more local, does that even help on that front?

... either way, hey, sounds like a good excuse to stop watching TV and getting a nice adblocker setup :P
