Even at no cost to themselves, they can deny healthcare benefits they disagree with.  Wouldn't that apply to subsidizing the widespread slaughter of animals?
Iirc the closer equivalent to what's going on on that front would be some farm applying for (and receiving) subsidies or other benefits for farming meat without actually, y'know, farming meat. S'been how several of the religious abuses have played out, if I'm not misremembering. Plus all sorts of half-assed enforced tax shenanigans.

Also probably worth noting the practices that make eggs accessible themselves tend to trend fairly horrific. Yard grown and whatnot is definitely possible, but it also is notably more expensive than industrial stuff, from what I understand. Plenty of somewhat fucked up shit going on vis a vis even plant based agriculture, for that matter. The subsidies involved in agriculture (livestock or otherwise) are also all over the place and put in for multiple reasons, too, so you're getting into a pretty messy subject in general...

That said, lots of subsidies or tax spending doesn't respect the ethics on individual citizens at-fucking-all, their religiously informed ones or otherwise, so... not actually sure how much that's something people give much of a damn about at the end of the day, yeah? For better (LGBT kids getting what meager gov't assistance they do, ferex, or planned parenthood's continued existence) or worse (taxpayer dollars going to fucking cop black sites or funding the paychecks that have unmarked federal fucks kidnapping people off the street).

They're suicidally stupid dumbshits that have never been through an actual one, mostly, and/or are critically incapable of pattern recognition. Low category hurricanes do generally (but only generally, as they're still perfectly capable of wrecking shit pretty hard under the right circumstances, generally due to flooding/storm surge) not do much, but A, we're well goddamn aware at this point the sunlight between "low category hurricane" and "intensified to the point your area will be rebuilding for the next few years" is less than a day or two, and B, that's just the low category ones. The high (4/5+) cat ones will probably fuck you and everything around you up real hard.

There's no real overhyping a hurricane, not when we're not literally omniscient. We don't know exactly how hard they're going to hit until they hit, and if they do hit hard it's anywhere from "hope you got flood insurance lol" to "your neighbors come to shelter because their house literally came apart while they were inside it and most of it flew off". Speaking from personal experience.

Statutory rape at a minimum, td1, if for some reason playing apologetics for a fucking segregationist is really the game you want to be playing. 22 year old screwing a 15-16 year old is criminal in a lot of places, nevermind the rest of the shit involved with this particular situation.

Eh... maybe once it (and other mods) works with the new patch?

You'd want at minimum magic storage as well, for what it's worth, possibly recipe browser, too... calamity (most of the giant mods, really) is mildly miserable to play without that, imo. All the extra stuff just makes the problems with vanilla inventory management and crafting that much more evident :-\

Sure, if they want their local employees tossed in the clink. Brazil's folks are explicitly threatening facebook's brazilian employees if the company doesn't comply. Facebook appears to be trying to work within the system first, in order to avoid... that.

He says he has "mouldy lungs" due to sitting around for three weeks. That's not really a thing, is it?
Not from just sitting around, no. Mold can cause respiratory issues, but that requires exposure, not just idleness.

They have their own problems, and not enough people will vote for them regardless. Voting third party in the US is functionally just giving a free vote to whichever party you like the least. That might change a bit if we can get enough dems in and enough pressure on them to actually push through the election reform they've been proposing, but we ain't there this year.

The two parties are wildly fucking different, though. There's vague interactions on some issues and a lot of horseshit brought about due to how fucked up the american system is, but anyone claiming the two parties are actually functionally identical have their heads up their ass and haven't been paying a single goddamn bit of attention for the last, I'unno, century or so.

I mean, if we're adding modern weapons to a fantasy world, why stop at bazookas? We can just have Frodo ride a cruise missile straight to Mt. Doom, that'll show Sauron who's boss.
Honestly I'm just thinking of a metal max/lotr crossover at this point. The hobbits have tanks, the eagles drop bombs, and sauron is thirty feet taller with chaingun hands, the eye embedded in his chest and firing lasers, and a third mutant arm waving around his mace encrusted with flak cannons. It'd be friggin' great. The spiders could have laser eyes and acid webbing, probably treads, too. You could do a lot with it, plus you'd have orcs and/or goblins with mad max getup and probably AKs or somethin'.

3625
Bard slaying Smaug just became the coolest dragon slaying of all time.
I mean, would it? I'm aware of several settings that have both bazookas and dragons, and at least one that has biplane/dragon dogfights as one of its main hooks. Smaug getting rocketed would pretty certainly not actually become the coolest dragon slaying of all time.

Pretty sure it wouldn't even break top 10, honestly, the bardening is pretty pedestrian as dragon slaying goes and rocket fire can only do so much to change that. Maybe if smaug was sky-surfing around on rockets himself or somethin'. Giant dragon blazing around the skies riding on a huge ICBM, yo', throwing around MIRV volleys and dragonfire. Now you're getting places. Rocket danmaku hell, bard jumping around on individual missiles looking for a clean shot. Dude gets in a hit and smaug gets pissed, breaths fire up into the air and then you have draconic napalm raining from the sky and a huge angry dragon just straight up throwing down a macross missile massacre at this little dude bouncing among the hurtling explosives.

I can see it, and it is beautiful.

3626
Wait, is that scale actually some people have made and reference?

Today I learned there's apparently multiple, officially published, star trek/x-men crossovers.

It also seems that Picard/Storm is something approaching canon. I can dig it.

So... what program is that, anyway? It looks like an expensive skin for notepad++, heh.

3629
Yeah, that... looks like landfall like right in the hardest hit (at least in terms of raw case numbers) areas of the state, plague wise.

Just. Please let it stay out of the fucking gulf. We're still picking up debris from michael over here :-\

Note, the "signed" checks were only sent to those who couldn't recieve their thing electronically. Those people are also likely to be disconnected to a majority of news, and are probably swayed by seeing a name on their check.
The quote marks are particularly appropriate. I'm actually looking at one of the things right now*, and while the shitgibbon's name is on it ("Economic Impact Payment" on one line, the fucker's name on a second), his signature isn't. The thing's signed by some treasury critter, same as the tax refund one.

*I couldn't be arsed to hunt up my banking info when I was doing taxes, so I got checks, and haven't gotten around to actually depositing them yet because going to the bank isn't exactly my highest priority right now.
