Yeah, I know of no country that has strictly private healthcare that could be called working, even charitably. The closest I'm aware of, though I forget exactly which nation it is, also does stuff like own most of the country's housing; the private healthcare only works to the extent it does due to other parts of life being gov't ran.

Most healthcare, and especially emergency healthcare of any sort, just fundamentally does not work in a private market environment. Can not work. The things that keeps prices manageable and service or product at a decent level (stuff like being able to shop around, having access to multiple competitors, and sufficient knowledge and leverage over providers to negotiate and whatnot, and so on) just flatly is not and cannot be available to a person who is actively bleeding out, or coughing their lungs out, or dealing with chronic pain, or etc., etc., etc. Shit just don't work, so prices will go out of control, service will be shit for most participants (both of which can be deadly when it comes to healthcare), and so on.

Certain other necessities aren't quite as bad on that front, but the same issues arise with most major lifegiving utilities, really. It you're dead from exposure without a roof over your head, whoever controls the housing has you by the proverbial (or literal, depending on how corrupt shit gets) reproductive organs. It's bad enough when a public servant has that kind of leverage on you, someone who's primary incentive is to drain every last monetary unit they can out of you is just... worse.

Someone's editor might not have been paying attention. Walked by the TV to notice some suited up old guy with the words CUM SUIT along the side of the screen.

After a second or two of staring in idle incomprehension, the view zoomed back out to show it had cut off everything of "talcum powder lawsuit" except the parts I first saw. Either someone missed something, or whoever was handling their commercial editing really didn't like their talking dude :V

Yeah, played the open beta a bit, been watching plenty of vids of it. Definitely hella' solid deckbuilder. Probably going to wait a while before really considering getting it, though... especially want to wait until I hear about a solid yes/no on modding.

Speed wise, it looks like an average victory runs about 60-90 minutes, but I've also seen runs as short as 30, so you can do a pretty fast run if you get the right stuff together. Fast ones definitely don't seem to be consistent, though.

Wait, put what? I can't see anything more explicit than what you've got out in the open there :P

Unless you're just talking about the existence of a new at all?

... actually, now that I look at the changelog again, it literally might be. I can find no goddamn mention of it at all in the thing. What the hell.

Give me a bit to figure out how much spite makes me want to just leave that out in the open :-\

Apparently the wizard gives some indication? Can't find mention of anything else via google, though.

It definitely looks like a mechanic I'm going to cheerfully install a mod to make fuck off forever whenever modloader gets updated, though. I could see the rest of the maybe sticking around, so long as it's not balanced by reducing old drop rates, but the torch aspect is just bloody asinine.

Walking by tv. Commercial guy goes, "A reverse mortgage isn't some kind of trick to take your money, it's just a loan, like any other."

And I'm like. "A reverse mortgage isn't some kind of trick to take your money, it's just a trick to take your money, like any other."

Are you fucking with me, TV guy? I mean, not me, specifically, I don't own anything that could be mortgaged and the commercial was clearly aimed at the elderly to siphon money out their income or steal their homes, but you get the idea. Also I get the answer is "yes, TV guy, you're fucking with me"

I mean... more health and damage does increase the difficulty, but it's pretty much the most boring way possible to do it. There's at least two mods (calamity, I think fargo? Whatever has masochist mode) that does better, doing a combination of either upping said stats on top of changing boss and some mob behavior, and/or adding new mechanics to the game to make things spicier.

It's just expert with higher damage and more meat shield, y'know? It doesn't add anything except inflated numbers :-\

E: Though yeah, when I saw confirmation that's all master difficulty does -- bigger numbers and a slew of cosmetics -- I just... closed the terraria window I had on. Like you say, I'm probably just going to wait until mods get updated. Cosmetic stuff doesn't give me a sense of accomplishment, new toys to play with does that, heh. They don't even have to be broken or whatever, just interesting somehow.

I mean, I don't dislike much of the lower level gameplay and exploration? I enjoy things more when more toys are out and about, but if the starting stuff was a major downer to me I wouldn't have started, like, dozens of new worlds or whatever over however many hundreds of hours I've sunk into terraria (steam says 2009, but I think a lot of that was it idling in the background, ha). Do tend to prefer wings (or just fall damage negation), but that's mostly because fall damage is kinda' wonky and I'd rather... not. Deal with having to worry about it.

I just dislike the mining, or more accurately find vein miner to be an order of magnitude better play experience, making digging massively less tedious and just generally making the exploration and progression much smoother, on top of having some neat applications outside of specifically mining out ore patches.

Honestly, so far as progression goes, with what I've experienced with journey mode I legitimately think I'd just prefer vein miner. It similarly reduces the pain of a lot of the grind, but in a way that still has you spelunking around plenty and digging stuff up. It just, y'know,  mostly removes the part of the digging that's friggin' make-work. Add on maybe luiafk or something to nix potion tedium and things are just... smooth. Slick. You can ramble around exploring and playing the game without much need or incentive to interrupt that to spend too much time slowly digging up another patch of iron or whatever.

Yeh, like, it's great and opens up that much more to interesting accessory combos, but. Vanilla doesn't do super interesting things on that front (whereas mods can get pretty wild), and if you're doing mods for the good stuff you might as well use mods that include more accessory slots without needing master going, too :P

Dubya probably did more damage over the course of his terms, but he had two of them and I'd still say Trump is the worse president, by a significant degree. If the shitgibbon isn't literally the bottom, he's down there with andrew "lol genocide" jackson -- and even with what that fucker did to the natives, he still had some redeeming stuff here and there. Trump just... hasn't. At all. While just running roughshod over what respectability the POTUS position had and what little the U.S. as a whole had, on top of a slew of far more material fuckups and by far the most odious personality of anyone to lead the executive branch in the last century or so. Dubya may have been a piece of shit, but he never compared my WWII vet grandfather to fucking Nazis.

I don't think it's actually in question, if trump's not the worst president in american history, he's definitely the worst in living memory.

I'unno, it's yet to have bothered me to see folks wear masks. Even pre-plague, masks were just... whatever. Body language and tone means a lot more for interpreting hostility or whatever, t'me. Considering we're in the middle of a bloody global plague, there's exactly zero disquiet in seeing people wearing them. More comfort, really...

It is indeed harder to breath in the things, though, and I don't do super great on the breathing front to begin with. I'm wearing one when I go to grocery stores or whatev', but that's about it. That'll change when where I'm working opens back up to the public, but that ain't here yet.

It does bother me to see people with the thing down on their chin or whatever, though. Like. No, people, c'mon now.

I mean, it'd mostly just be a fried banana? Just mashed up. Not particularly interested in it, but it probably wouldn't be bad. Kinda' like a half-way point between banana and banana chip.
