Darkling reminds me of the old days, and our homeland before the Great Migration...

Also I generally find dark backgrounds easier on the eyes, especially in darker environments such as evening or when my fucking ceiling light blows another bulb.
Man, nevermind darkling alone, I got twilight running on the tablet at f.lux tag-teaming with win 10's high contrast (fiddled with a bit so it's even softer). If I had a button that could make every bit of white space on a browser just friggin' disappear forever I'd press the thing.

Getting closer as time passes and I figure out more ways to make the glare nonsense sod off, but still not quite there under all circumstances. One day. One day I will brick up eye strain behind a wall of color finagling entirely and no invocation of any god will save it.

I've proper murdered one raid so far! And improperly murdered one before that, losing like half my population in the process :P Past the point of starvation being a significant issue, in any case (2.9 years worth with 470 pop, heh). Now building a library that's taking 2.8k wood, 3.5k furniture, and 5.6k fabric. I'd say it's excessive, but if I'm reading it right it's like... maybe getting to one end-tree tech. Maybe.

Still can't seem to figure out how to convince my soldiers to wear armor (or clothes, for that matter), but I do seem to have convinced them to train, so it's somethin'.

Neat little tech demo, in any case.

E: Muster! Apparently they don't put on equipment until you hit the muster button. Seems okay to do that right after the ransom demand comes in. Fight goes a lot better when you got your dudes formed up and wearing something besides sky, oddly enough :V

Still haven't figured out to get any of these critters to wear pants, though. They'll pick up battle gear, but clothes? They don't seem to understand clothes.

E2: Woo, crashed it! Be careful tearing down the throne room, apparently.

I wouldn't be so lazy at maintaining a thread i would have created one just for this "Songs of Syx" game because it really deserves a lot more attention than in this one.
It's from like last month, but I'm finally checking this thing out, and. I have a question, if anyone else is playing or has played it.

Am I missing something, or do you actually need stupidly huge libraries to do tech research? 'Cause, like. A 21x25 library plus a 6x15 (which, between the two, take up most of the screen at default resolution et al settings), filled as filled as filled can get with tables and shelves and whatnot, netted me enough knowledge to get. One. Tech researched. Just one. I can't tell if I'm missing something or if you really do need a library the size of like half the entire map to do much tech advancing.

Strike witches has a fairly different art style and character design though :P

Honestly I'm not sure telling even someone used to anime nomenclature that sounan desu ka had moe schoolgirls wouldn't be something like a bait and switch. 'Cause from what I'm seeing of it neither the anime nor the manga is leaning moe-wards stylistically. Characters too mature, not... squidgy enough, something like that. They're schoolgirls, sure, but just... not moe ones.

Lord of the Flies has the kids in school uniforms too.

Seriously, that's a kind of ridiculous jump to make right there.

Anime schoolgirls in short skirts doing <thing X> is a total thing, which is what I'm talking about. "Anime schoolgirls" is an extremely specific trope, and it's silly to point to general depictions of schoolchildren from unrelated media to say that we can't pinpoint this as a trope that's specific to anime.
I'm, uh. Pretty sure that's not what's going on. Also could swear what I read is different from what got quoted, but... whatever.

Though yeah, this bear grill/drink-my-piss/island-survival-fan-service thing isn't what I'd considering slotting into moe anymore than I would highschool of the dead. It takes something besides schoolgirls in short skirts doing stuff to fit there, y'know?

I remember hearing something about that before, but must have forgotten. Neat.

From the most recent release notes on Caramel's Github page:

Performance now gives weaponized singing in combat. LISTEN TO MY SONG
Yeah, given the macross influence and the existence of the performance skill at all, it was bound to happen sometime or another. Good to hear that's coming along, tho'. Gearhead's always been pretty great.

I mean, beyond all that, are we just going to discount that a few hundreds could be enough for trump to do his shit? It wouldn't be the first time tiny profits led some petty old fuck to do nasty stuff to try to get it.

Clearly his full name is Egan Bolt Wonka, he’s secretly lost in his dad’s chocolate factory, scared of Charlie Bucket because he thinks he killed Willy Wonka to steal the factory
Wait, wait. There's a plot here. Egan Bolt Wonka, terrified for his life and equally terrified of his forbidden attraction to his secret half-brother Charlie Bucket, the man who killed Egan's father, hiding from his urges and his father's murderer among the decaying husk of a factory gone wrong. When the factory finally succumbs to the taint left by the many deaths that occurred there, the wild energies give a sickening solution to all of Wonka's woes.

More twists and turns than you can shake a chocolate stick at await you in Egan Wonka and the Zombie Factory, a thrilling tale of confectionary taboo (and necromancy).

Could use some work, but there's something remarkable torrid there...

For what it's worth, the things seem easier to find nowadays. They also tend to go into things like blood sugar testing devices, which are around more than they were a while ago. Least feels like they're around more now than they were, say, twenty years ago or something.

I mean, I'unno? It's fairly inoffensive litrpg/isekai, which makes it not complete drek but mediocre is probably not far from what you could consider it deserving, heh. It's not bad, but it's also fairly bog standard OP power fantasy in most ways, except with a cute non-murderhobo MC and some lily shading. If it weren't for most things in that general area of literature et al being remarkably terrible it wouldn't stand out much :P

Ah, that would be kuma kuma kuma bear, without even checking the link. The LN/WN is pretty alright! Litrpg isekai stuff, iirc, but fluffy scatterbrained slice of life-ish instead of murder hobo harem building. I mean, you can sorta' side eye some harem building in it, if I'm remembering right, but it's yuri harem so it gets more of a pass :P

It shows up in SC2, too, for what it's worth. Couldn't tell you the context there offhand, tho', I'm mostly aware of it from custom maps. Also haven't played anything blizzard since the goddamn disaster that was the reforged launch, so memory's probably a little fuzzy there anyway.

So has anyone mentioned or noticed the murderously staggering horseshit coming out of the white house or somethin' related to it apparently suggesting covid deaths are going to zero out by the end of the month?

Well, most effective after removing guns from the population. It's been noted, repeatedly, that for all the good psych help would do it's significantly fucking unlikely to do sod all about mass murder. It's just pretty bloody rare there's chance or grounds to catch something like that before it hatches on the psych care side of things.

Better safety nets would probably help more on that front between the two, just, y'know. Not as much as just getting guns out of the goddamn population. Might be more feasible in the relatively short term, but I'unno. Depends on if the GOP goes and fucking dies sometime in the near future or not, and less of our political system becomes virulently opposed to the general population becoming less miserable.

The umber hulk is a D&D creature that resembles an ultralisk.
There's ultralisk hero units called torrasque straight up, if you haven't played much starcraft/forgotten the thing existed. It's conceivable someone's played starcraft but little to no D&D, and would recognize them as an ultralisk first and their originating critter not at all.

There's nothing called drider in the (canon, anyway) SC stuff, that I can recall, though, which means it probably wasn't an intentional starcraft reference.
