General Discussion / Re: AmeriPol thread

I care about hearing both sides, even if I don't always agree with them. And I think that constructive dialogue will be more productive than abject dismissal.
I mean, what's even to hear, here? Last I noticed the other side of the dialogue outside this thread was, among other things, busy accusing Gaetz of being an agent of world jewry, blaming the dems from not cleaning up the GOP's mess, and screeching about how this all happened because mccarthy wasn't pissing on the woke hard enough. There's not exactly a serious conversation to be had with that. They're just throwing shit around like an angry monkey trying to distract people from what actually caused the mess (i.e. their entire party being a pack of untrustworthy rat bastards even by politician standards).

You can talk about the CR, but one of the things suspected in regards to that, at the moment, is that mccarthy didn't actually expect it to pass, and was trying to set up the democratic caucus to be blamed for the shutdown (you can see a dem staffer commenting on this here). It's pretty likely that wasn't an attempt at bipartisanship, but an attempt to sling shit and cover up the clusterfuck the GOP's turned into.

Somewhat amusingly, it's behavior we've seen from the GOP before, like back when they proposed congress would have to sign up for the ACA and got blindsided when the dems went "okay".

Female character wise... ehhhh just your garden variety anime girls. But male character wise... twinks. Twinks, twinks, twinks, EVERYWHERE!. I do get the idea that the people in the studio love twinks (and so do I) from the sheer abundance of them at every corner of the game world. But why no larger man exist? Like, even the mountain trolls are twinks. That's kinda over-twinkage. Kinda hate it how handsome they all are.
This is the second time in the last few months I've seen someone comment on this, heh. And yeah, GI's basically wall to wall twink, the thickest thing on there is probably Itto and Itto is... not thicc. At all. The game basically has one (adult) male body type and it ain't got no heft to it.

Forget which ones, but there's apparently one or two other major gacha games out there that do have swolebois of note, but genshin ain't it (it ain't FGO, either, iirc -- they got some, but they're apparently pretty boring about presentation, which is removes any credit they get on that front).

Actually isn't far from the standard for boxed mac, checking some I got in the pantry. It's a 6 oz box with 2.5 servings, which comes out to about 2.4 oz per. That 2.4 oz makes around a cup of mac, cooked.

... basically no one eats just one serving, though. I used to generally just eat the whole damn box in one go as a meal, but I've (usually, unless whatever I do to it that day ends up tasting really, really good) mostly cut back to about half or 2/3rds or so.

Whole box worth tends to make my reflux issues unhappy, these days, heh.

E: Also, quick check of the instant mac and cheese cups they got these days shows kraft's basic one weighs in at 2.05 oz, so the bucket thing's pretty close, serving wise, to those things. Bucket's about in line with normal serving allocation for mac n cheese, basically.

Eh... from what I've been able to pick up, we're good so far as functioning goes around 500 mg a day, so you have to go pretty damn low to get too low (also it is staggeringly difficult to even keep daily intake under 1k, nevermind lower, in most modern societies). That's what I was aiming at for a while, though I've relaxed some, if still trying to keep it under that 2k. It's been enough, with medication, to bring my blood pressure back down to less lethal levels, which is why I notice it so much.

Though it's remarkably easy to clock 5k+ in a day if you're not paying attention and doing stuff like piling on salad dressing or eating much fast food or whatever, heh. Our food is drenched as hell in sodium, and 5k as a new upper-ish limit wouldn't actually mitigate that as a problem.

McCarthy just cooperated with the Democrats to keep the government open. That was explicitly stated as the primary reason why The Right removed him from office, and we can only assume that whoever they support as the next speaker will be unwilling to do the same.
Eehh... it was the dems and ~60% of his own party, and mccarthy promptly stabbed the dems in the back for it. McCarthy largely didn't cooperate shit, the weight of his own party forced him into it.

The next speaker'll probably be about as likely to be jerked around by the majority of his political party as mccarthy was, and might (though it's a big might, the GOP is what it is) actually be capable of following through with agreements.

Most it really just boils down to mccarthy (and the GOP in general) being dumb enough to pander to the freedom fucks when they're utterly unwilling to reciprocate, while also being so goddamn stupid they were unwilling or unable to get some degree of support from the dems. Even a basic degree of willingness to work with folks that might actually reciprocate, and make and keep promises, would probably have prevented this whole mess.

McCarthy (and the GOP :V) completely lack that degree, and so here we are, ha.

If you put enough cheese on it you basically end up with long macaroni and cheese. They actually have cheese instant noodles out there, too (they're pretty damn good as instant noodles go!), too.

... less sure about the ranch. Haven't tried that on noodles. Generally not super fond of, like, salad dressing type stuff on anything, though. Been kinda' thinking of trying it a bit (I do like ranch chips, and ranch on pizza), but it.

Well, it's hard to find salad dressing stuff without kill-yourself amounts of salt in it. You can get that shit at 0 carbs with barely any effort, but low to zero salt? Lol. Low sodium salad dressing's idea of low sodium is still like 200+ mg per serving, and the regular stuff is like 2-4x that, or some crap like that. Crazy stuff.

For what it's worth, at least part of the uptick in litigation probably comes from the UN's (least I think it was the UN, it was one of the major international orgs if not them specifically) fairly recent recognition of AGW as systemic violence against children (which it 100% is, both in terms of who gets hit hardest and who's going to have to deal with that shit later). There's probably more of a basis (or at least visibility and subsequent willingness) to take that shit to court because of that.

I mean, among every single thing else involved, from the fact whatever replaces the guy will almost certainly not actually be worse on any front given how terrible he was, to how staggeringly untrustworthy the shitlicker is, to how stupidly weak his position was, from what I understand the debate period and folks that talked in his "favor" in the leadup to the vote basically spent the entire time shitting on the dem party.

Why in hell would anyone vote for that? He's not going to work with you, his replacement will be no worse, and his advocates just spent much of an afternoon basically pissing on you. When someone's fucking around like that, most folks're going to let them find out.

Bit late, but one of the easiest and tastiest ways to help with that is just dump some cheese in it. Cheesy ramen is good and cheese helps mitigate spiciness. Win/win.

... now I'm just curious how much salt was already in that thing. In my experience from eyeballing stuff, vegetarian junk trends, like... extremely high in sodium, so the thought of adding more is vaguely terrifying, ha.

If you got VBA and are willing to finagle, you'd probably have trouble going terribly wrong with pokemon romhacks, heh. Haven't messed around with them much, personally, but there's apparently some pretty solid ones out there. There's at least one Super Robot Wars game on GBA that got fully fantranz'd, too (Taisen J), that's pretty great. Dragon Quest Monsters Caravan's on there, it's pretty nice.

Official localization wise, I'm not sure how playable they are on a mobile device, but I got a fair amount of love for the Summon Nights games, and Tales of Phantasia ended up on the system in english at some point. Play issues a thing, but the castlevania games on the GBA are mostly pretty solid and not that demanding on the reflexes.

Riviera was mentioned, but there's another game in the series (Yggdra Union) on the system that's possibly more interesting (though some of the design is kinda'... wild, ha).

The InvalidARG thing seems to be something that pops up when the program's either having trouble accessing storage, or you don't have enough space for the whatever.

That's about all I can parse from a quick check and some googling, though.

Fucking lol; the house has passed a more or less clean 45 day CR in regards to funding -- and the yes vote had nearly two democrats for every republican. Something like 40% of the House majority just voted against their own bill, heh. The shitshow that's about to cook off is probably going to be kind of amazing.
