Hell, sure. Just pay the folks making them more than 80 cents an hour is all I'm saying.

Dude, it's nearly 8, polls closed around an hour ago. I'll be voting in the general regardless, but the only attractive thing to me about this primary choice was the possibility of writing in a candidate for the first time in my life, and that would have been replaceable by drawing a doodle of someone flipping off old people.

Like, all I was saying was a felt kind of bad about prioritizing the plague over a shitty throwaway vote, and now I feel less bad since the only option I might have picked just got friggin' destroyed in my state, so it's somewhat more ~whatever~

Well, in conflictingly mitigation not-bad/not-good news, apparently bernie's getting utterly fucking crushed in florida (and basically everywhere else voting tonight, for that matter). I feel less bad about not making it to the polling station out of concern this cough is something contagious :-\

Working from home starting tomorrow, as some patients at my wife's place of work  Testing incomplete as of now.

Amazon is prioritizing shipments on things that help a person stay home or otherwise fight Covid-19.
I just wish testing would expand faster, really. There's still pretty fucked up restrictions in some places (florida), even when we're well past the point of community transmission and awareness of the possibility of asymptomatic spread and crap.

I'm not even sure it's actually happening yet. There's multiple similar efforts going on on that front and as near as I can tell none of them have actually, like, passed both chambers of congress, nevermind anything so far as implementation goes.

IIRC it has bipartisan support, but I would think this is one of those things they'll just "do" under emergency powers or some such. Things are moving fast these days, but I was still surprised how fast this went from idea to reality. Maybe Orange Man figures this makes him look generous and responsive and will help him get elected.
I mean, you'd think, but last I heard anything major Senate GOP was stonewalling parts of the house bill and GOP congresscritters in general had no idea what the fuck was going on so far as executive/congress emergency measure negotiations were concerned. I'll be surprised about how fast it hit reality just as soon as I can get some confirmation it actually has.

It's really not harmless, undercutting jobs that might actually meaningfully support a family just as a start. We should really not fucking incentivize corps to figure out how to wrangle paying their workers fuckall by reason of them being currently incarcerated, and that's just the tip of the iceberg so far as issues with penal labor goes. Either pay the work what it's due or fuck off, and 80 cents per hour isn't the due for goddamn anything anymore.

Also not the thread for it, though. I'm sure some prison or another will get their population infected and then probably disproportionately killed, then it'll have a good place in the crow plague thread.

I mean, apparently airport folks are *checks notes* taking people's temperatures and then shuffling them into densely packed waiting areas? Wait, that can't be right...

Yeah, pretty much. It's also a fair amount of work and some decent upfront costs in a lot of cases, so... yeah. Side grift with maybe some benefits, probably best just done for enjoyment with anything financial considered to be a happy bonus. If you incidentally catch on and get fairly big, that can change, but it's hella' rough trying to bank on it.

So hey, looks like Spain's straight up took over any remaining private hospitals, in response to the virus? Neat.

I... do you have a link? Google appears to think Armored War 3 doesn't exist.

Mittens is not a republican with conviction, though. He just really fucking hates trump and isn't worried about his constituency punishing him for it.

Ah, I remember that feeling. Well, it was more mild disbelief because I had been behind the wheel at that point only like twice prior to the test and never had driving classes or anything more than one vaguely instructional drive that basically boiled down to "oh hey, turns out video games actually do teach you most of what you need to know to drive!"* but eh. That feeling you really shouldn't be passing a test you pass anyway is one well known to me :P

* I owe my first three point turn to mario kart, no joke.

Y'know, something occurred to me. Something that could basically completely eliminate voting as a disease transmission vector, even the potential for transference via mail.

Voting app. Also just calling it in. Can't catch the plague from a voting site or delivered ballot if you don't get either! I think we never thought of the plague-kills-your-gramma angle when discussing issues with electronic vs. physical voting...

Yeah but in terms of there being runs on particular goods and items, that can and hopefully will normalize pretty quickly. Hand sanitizers and disinfectant are probably going to be scarce for a while but I'm pretty sure they'll ramp up production because this I think this a trend they can capitalize on for years.
Yeah, how much toilet paper you can stockpile? And for example in Poland one of major petrochemical companies switched some production lines to medical-grade sanitizers.
I mean, it depends on how much storage you have? TP takes up a lot of space, generally,  but it's also easily stackable and long lasting. So long as you're willing to have less space for others stuff and/or go floor to ceiling you can jam a lot of it even into a fairly small area.

... actually, now I'm wondering how long before we hear news of a house burning down due to having too much toilet paper stacked up in it. I'd be disappointed, but unsurprised :-\

Oh hey, did we hit the second circuit breaker? Least I'm seeing chatter that people predicting trump opening his mouth to crater stocks were right on the money.
