I guarantee you you'd get someone to pay you for that if you tried to shill it. Maybe write a book, it might do well among alternative medicine circles.

Because people thought they were pretty/stylish, and cultural inertia handled the rest. That's basically it -- that it's actively unhealthy for people to be around has been known for a while, but tech folks still use blue largely because people have been using blue for a while now and it's supposed to be the high-tech/fancy color.

For what it's worth, there's a slowly building sentiment against the shit as people spend more time around it (and computer screens, which share similar issues). It's just got to finish kicking in :-\

Is anyone on here politically activated this year? I remember we used to have a guy in New York's election machine, they made for an interesting perspective.
That was Maximum Spin, if I recall correctly. I also know we have someone who's fairly active in Georgia Republican circles.
it definitely wasn't, unless they changed their name to it at some point. Iirc, and as near as I can get the search feature to cooperate, I'm fairly sure it was Misko. They haven't been active since like last September, tho'. Hope they're alight...

So make an archival copy and store it somewhere. There's programs that'll nab up entire websites to make an offline copy of everything public facing.

What's the worst non-people mammal?
What's our metric for judging worst, here? 'Cause like, the worst at being a mammal would probably be all the extinct ones, followed by the platypus.

The incubation period for the virus could be much longer than 14 days.
Authorities from the Chinese province of Hubei report that a man that was tested positive for the virus only began to show signs of illness 27 (!!) days after contracting the virus.
He had visited his sister, who is also infected, in Shennongjia on january 24th.
On the 20th of february he developed a fever.

If this report turns out to be accurate, it will make it much harder to stop the spread of the virus.

Meanwhile in Italy, confirmed cases of infections went up from 16 to 59 within a day.
Last I noticed a extreme edge incubation period of 28-30 days was confirmed like last week or so. Most incidences seem to kick off much sooner than that, though. Least as near as I could parse a 3+ week period was possible, but only a pretty small fraction (memory wants to say <=2%, but could be misremembering) of the infections actually managed it, or something along those lines. Which means that bit isn't as bad as it could be/sounds.

That said, it doesn't need 28 days to be a bit of a nightmare to contain. It's aerosolized and capable of largely asymptomatic spread, as well as not being super deadly or fast acting (also mostly looking like the flu symptoms wise, in the middle of flu season). Even without the lol 3-4 weeks thing it's something that gives a good go at just laughing at containment efforts.

I mean... most of the wizardry series seems held in high regard by people who don't get a reflexive murderous impulse when dealing with that sort of first person dungeon crawler style game? Quick gander suggests folks think either doing 1-5 or 6-8 (probably the latter if you want to fiddle with a more recent UI) first is a good idea, if you're looking to dive into the series. Translation wise I'm not sure what hasn't been translated... looks like everything numbered before 6 definitely has at a minimum.

Reviews and whatnot suggest lost souls has... issues, though. It's indeed supposed to largely be in the same style as the earliest gams, at least. Maybe go with 6 or 7, dip into 8 to see which style you like better?

Gotta' love it when the RNG gets cheeky.

On the bright side, though, then you had bites which are probably better than even upgraded strike dummy strikes. Now you can stall your way to a full heal a bunch and be happy :P

I mean, the actual difference is it's a lot more feasible to metaphorically or literally strangle a politician on this side of the Atlantic. Heart matters less than accountability, and the latter's a lot easier without hundreds or thousands of miles of ocean between you and them.

I mean... it does kinda' occur to me russia is pretty demonstrably (UK) willing to just kill people on foreign soil, and bernie getting "natural causes" at some point is... something we wouldn't even be able to guarantee wasn't natural, what with the whole friggin' geriatric thing he's got going. In a sense, bernie probably is the weakest non-GOP candidate, from a health perspective :-\

Just as a generic thing I wonder what the plan is (especially for bust folks), if bernie just up and dies (or is indefinitely hospitalized) between now and November. I know we've had major primary contenders (and probably explicit general candidates) keel over part way through, but I don't remember how it's played out in the past or what extent a repeat could be expected now.

I still don't understand why foreign influence is regarded as such an intolerable threat.

Disinformation is the real danger, and it should be equally concerning whether it comes from without or within.
I mean, among other things, if they break laws in the process we don't have the same sort of jurisdiction to kick them for it. Similarly there's fairly unique pressures involved that don't exist in regards to domestic influences (see fucking ukraine for a recent example), or at least involve different issues or means of preventing or punishing misbehavior.

Beyond that there's issues of transparency and whatnot that we value for goddamn good reason. Shit could probably keep going in that direction. Domestic issues probably are more important, but that doesn't mean foreign nationals (and literal intelligence agencies) running disinformation campaigns and related horseshit is somehow unimportant because of it.

Much of the rest of it just standard non-locals-can-fuck-off-from-our-local-decision-making stuff you see every time some jackass from out of town tries to run for office or whatev', just expanded in scope. Probably xenophobia adjacent, but it's not entirely coming from there. You legitimately want to reduce the influence of fucks that aren't directly involved and may have reason to actively undermine your group's (town, nation, commune, whatever) general wellbeing. There's a similar sentiment in wanting out of town megacorps to screw off when they're trying to predate on your home town or whatev'.

I remember taking like a week to download a demo, once. Iirc it was either age of wonders or age of myths, probably the former. It was only like 250 megs or something (ah, the not missed days of that being entire harddrives...), but dial-up is both slow and inconsistent :P

I mean, it's questionable how much it'll actually effect things, but at least bloomshit's going to be spending the rest of his campaign as a charred skeleton instead of a person, what with the whole "set on fire on live television" thing that apparently happened tonight.
