Yeah, calling a shiren port as the turning point is just... weird. Especially considering how most the surge has even less to do with the mystery dungeon style than it does non-console RLs. Did the port actually sell well or somethin'?

we're already telephats if obesity rates are anything to go by

... on a less typo jesting note, any text capable phone already meets most criteria for telepathy. Invisible communication over a distance, where you have no need to see or directly interact with the other communicants at all. Texting isn't very good telepathy, or particularly high speed or high functioning, but... functionally, it's basically low-fi telepathy. There's a lot of stuff we do that would be indistinguishable from magic to someone from a few hundred years back.

There's a lot of stuff that matches one to one with many or even most descriptions of magic -- the arcane gestures and terminology, the strangely shaped objects causing miraculous effects, the constructs of all sorts, so on, and so forth. Many people on this planet are, unambiguously, fukkin' wizards. It's just we're also in a flaccid cyberpunk future so it's largely kinda' banal and operation is as tedious as all that shit fantasy writers and P&P dms tuck away out of sight. We're wizards, but the system's borderline vancian and we don't get to just say "eight hour rest" and get all our spell slots back.

Well. Wand charges would probably be more accurate, but eh.

For what it's worth, there's some mod or another that actually gives you a chance to influence which act 3 boss you get. Don't remember which one, or if vanilla has something similar, but there's a thing where you can drop cash to, uh. It's either guarantee a specific boss or guarantee you won't fight it, don't quite remember. Nice, in any case.

Google seems to say they're flipping out because one of the ads had someone saying damn in it.

And ninja'd, but yeah.

I suppose you could say I'm Trans-Siberian.
but are you an orchestra

do you have one of those drum/accordion/etc. things you strap on your back

EDIT: Also I'm not sure why Biden would get the "huge African American support", or even the label of having that, outside of direct media manipulation...
I'm not really entirely sure myself -- Biden's fucked over the black community pretty hard over the years in practice -- but from what I've picked up, it's a mixture of being Obama adjacent and having a good appearance of being able to win the general (true or not). Less genuine appreciation and more calculation he can kick Trump out the whitehouse.

It seems to mostly anchor itself in older, church-going members of the demographics in question (which isn't an attempt to diminish that impact, they're a pretty damn politically powerful subgroup), though. Biden's not terribly popular with younger people in general, and minority groups are no exception there.

All that said, it's flat fact that for whatever reasons, biden does currently have pretty damn substantial black support. He's one of the strongest candidates among that slice of the american population.

Garlicky watermelon-cherry V8 stuff is... actually pretty good. Surprisingly good.

Also pepperoni on garlic cheese fondue pizza is surprisingly bad. Barbeque sauce, though, surprisingly good. Tonight has involved a short blitz of pizza influenced surprises.

I mean... how long are the lectures? 8 half hour lectures over the course of a day ain't that bad. Eight 90 minute (plus) ones is, uh. Less feasible.

Did you miss the thing where pete more or less forged (there's a better term here, but I'm forgetting it) the support of notable black political figures, slu?

... yeah, I can't see "blatantly lied about minority support" pete getting much support 'round here. Guy's got some pretty serious issues. I sorta' wish he didn't, 'cause, y'know... young. But I'd probably take biden over him at this point and I'd kinda' rather eat raw cat testicles than vote for biden in the primary.

Last I was paying attention, all of the major dem candidates (except maybe pete, to the extent he is one?) are showing every sign of tearing up Trump in the general. And fairly legitimately, not that "well, actually the polls are neck and neck but let's not mention that" crap. That won't be an easy or clean fight, but it's one I'm not as worried about as what comes after given how much the shitgibbon has pissed off the country.

Frumple, I like you otherwise, but your opinions concerning anything where Sanders is involved, even tangentially, basically became incomprehensible after he turned you into a pillar of salt in 2016.
Man, sanders is fucking fine. I won't vote for him in the primary due to age, but if he were younger he'd probably be my second pick or a legitimate contender for first. I got problems with him and I disliked some of his actions pretty hard after 2016, but of the major candidates he's the only other legit progressive candidate running, and I'd prefer him over biden or pete without hesitation if he weren't so goddamn old (as is, if warren does drop my vote's probably going to be "not these geriatric shits" and then taking whatever comes out the primary afterwards). I probably am less coherent these days, but that's 'cause I'm even more fucking exhausted than I used to be and I'm living with and shittily trying to care for two people starting to degenerate from what's either dementia or Alzheimer's. Life's pretty shit and I don't have nearly as much in me as I wish I did when it came to this stuff.

That don't change that this traitor to the left warren crap is fucking nonsense, though.

There's frothing piles of horseshit floating in them, but I don't nearly have the energy to address it. Fucking politics :-\

Her winning would be at least as major a victory for the bleeding edge of the U.S. Left as a sanders one, though. Possibly more, given her indication of a willingness to go for the throat administratively in ways bernie hasn't been doing, and her history with organization building and whatnot (something probably extra important considering the state department is currently in fucking shambles).

It's just about guaranteed she'd handle the actual administration aspects of a presidency better than sanders, and with results damn near identical in terms of trajectory. Other aspects are more questionable, but the accusations of her being a traitor to leftist causes are just straight fucking nonsense reliant on ignoring basically goddamn everything she's done since she switched parties, and most of them seem driven by having the sheer fucking gall of not being an exact carbon copy of bernie or completely subservient to his whims or some shit.

Man. Now you got me thinking of that guy trying to mack on the shadow witches. It'd be like that monster girl minecraft mod, just without the prettification. Flee big frogs, flee!

Actually, iirc most of that R&D angle is basically horseshit, and the U.S. commercial healthcare R&D just flat out vanishing overnight wouldn't really be that big of a deal, nevermind it wouldn't happen. Lot of the money thrown around there doesn't actually do much good, plus it's not exactly a huge chunk of their expenditures, or something along those lines.

Pretty sure there's been a steady dribble of articles and whatnot lately actually checking the claim that U.S. for-profit R&D is super vital and finding it... wanting. Which really shouldn't be that much of a surprise when you're talking the sort of fucks that would really rather you not question their business models and just quietly choke on whatever they're interested in jamming down your throat that day.
