Eh... from what I understand most purchases happen in a pretty short time frame. Lot of emphasis gets put on the first few weeks. Starting sales up a month or two after release or somethin', particularly smaller discounts, is probably less a bad sign and more that marketing et al is getting more canny and optimizing where to put their price point and when for maximum (short-ish term) monetary extraction.

Which. I guess could be a bad sign for the consumer. Not so much the business, heh.

Didn't realize top hat, white tie and tails was as old as it was. I think I like this electroswing version better than the originals, though. Remarkably cheery piece of music about some dude just kinda' enthused about dressing up for a fancy dress event.

Thank God for blocking unknown numbers.
i wish to fuck that actually worked anymore

Unless you're just talking numbers you don't known rather than the unknown caller horseshit scam fuckers have somehow figured out how to get past call blocking.

Off the road a bit on the way home, some dude on what looked like a bicycle that was absolutely pouring smoke everywhere, seemingly right out the seat. No screaming and they looked more confused than troubled, but... still. Goodness gracious.

Like, a regular bicycle? No motor?
Like, the shape was regular bicycle looking. It was too dark to see super well and I like don't take my eyes off the road when I'm driving, though, so I couldn't actually tell if there was a motor. I'd assume so what with the fireball cosplay, but maybe something stranger was happening, I'unno.

So far as we're aware, this legislation will pretty certainly work even with minimal enforcement, especially if it's the retailers targeted for punishment rather than users or purchasers (and as near as I can tell, the actual change seems explicitly aimed at retailers, so whatever fucked up shit schools do in response is them being fucked up rather than the law change demanding anything) The age bump has already been attempted on a state level in a few places (and by that i mean apparently like 19 states or somethin') and it demonstrably works for reducing the rate of addiction among youth (from what I understand mostly by making it harder for high schoolers to get a hold of).

So far as I'm aware, though, both alcohol and tobacco are largely divorced from most of the varying atrocities cops inflict on our youth. Presumably the penalties aren't as fucked up so there's not the same incentive to use those particular substances as a lever for abuse, I'unno.

So hey, dunno if it's been mentioned yet, but the federal minimum age to purchase tobacco's apparently been raised to 21. Still kinda' leery 'cause mitch was one of the ones heading the bill, but... otherwise seems like a good thing. General indicators (it's been tried already on a state basis, with decent results) are it's probably going to get yet fewer people killed by or addicted to tobacco, mostly by way of making it harder for high schoolers to get their hands on it. Here's hopin'.

Eh, maybe, but they're basically murderous luck dragons and that takes some of the edge off if you're old enough :P

PC, tablet nowadays. Consoles got too expensive to justify, heh.

... but yeah, if I'm waiting for an install I just... read or something. If for some reason the net's down and I don't want to play a different game while I wait, I got a small library just plain ol' downloaded on this thing. Even without consistent internet we're pretty spoiled for choice these days so long as power and rig is steady.

Basically everything in terraria would be kinda' terrifying without the distance the side view et al provides. You sorta' need the separation to take an edge off things.

Take it another step and make the graphics basically realistic and you'd be a fair way towards pants-shitting. I think just about the only thing that's not approaching gruesome is, like, maybe the slimes, and most of the sky and hallow enemies (well, until a life-sized horse runs your ass down, anyway). Most of the rest if it's basically (hell, sometimes literally) straight out of horror genre critters. Bring that stuff to scale and de-cartoon it a bit and you'd be in like chainsaw horror territory. If you stop to think a bit about what exactly you're exploding into chunks it's a pretty messy game...

Sounds kind of like what UPS did with a package my mom got that was marked "keep refrigerated", that they left tied to the gate, in the sun, on a day that it was 100o out side, and then they acted like they didn't do it. UPS workers are the biggest bunch of idiots.
They're generally under a fair amount of stress and general abuse, from what I understand. The freight et al industry is kinda' fucked up at the moment, which, y'know, has its problems.

Last night I was listening to Terraria music and I started thinking about how cool a 3D virtual reality Terraria would be
Alternatively kinda' terrifying. First person eye of cthulhu coming at you, especially second phase, could probably be pretty nightmare inducing. Gigantic screaming bloody tooth filled maw coming straight at your face like a friggin' freight train... and that's just the first boss. VR terraria would probably qualify as a horror game.
