*shrugs* I mean, the "degree" isn't that large? It's 200 acres of land in friggin' montana (which is basically nothing, it's like one third of a single square mile) plus some welfare et al opportunities for a few thousand people, near as I could tell from skimming over it. As US gov degrees go, that's probably less impact than incorporating (or dissolving) a sorta' small town or somethin'.

If the democrats truly believed that - why did they raise his military budget? Seems like gross negligence.

It's a rock and a hard place. If they withhold military spending then they get accused of treason / disloyalty / "in league with our enemies" etc.
There's also stuff like this, for what it's worth. How that got in a defense spending bill I'm not quite sure, but I guess you take what you can get. Also makes me kinda' curious as to what the hell else is in those things. Not enough to actually dig through them to find out, but it makes you idly wonder.

You know, why are there gay Christians? Doesn't the Bible explicitly say they are not going to heaven.
At most it might say it's a sin, more or less, depending on translation and interpretation. One no worse than, say, drunkenness or revelry or extortion. Probably no more of a hindrance than being rich and definitely no more of one than being, say, uncharitable or whatev'. Lotta' shit's a sin, it doesn't stop sinners from being christian, plenty of denominations that hold it doesn't stop folks from receiving salvation, etc., etc. Doesn't seem to do much to slow down the sin, either, often enough, for that matter, and that still don't stop the sinners from calling themselves or being called christian.

There's a whole bunch of other theological guff that can get involved, but the short of it is it's only a meaningful barrier to being christian if the particular believer wants it to be, and roughly as important to the core messages and whatnot of the bible as whatever horseshit was invoked back when the churches were stanning for slavery. Bible says a lot of other shit a hell of a lot more important than its few lines that may or may not be explicit universal condemnations of homosexuality.

End of the day it's not the bloody bible (or the church, or churchgoers, or you) that decides if you're going to heaven, anyway, so far as christian metaphysics go. Feels like folks like to forget that a lot, some days.

Yes, I mean watching for cars before crossing. Maybe on very windy days they’d have trouble flying, or younger ones or ones with broken wings would need to cross to get to certain areas
Smarter ones definitely look for cars, or at least react to their presence. You see it with carrion eaters picking at roadkill all the time. Other ones largely have no reason to get close enough to the ground, much less anywhere that close to a hot thing with no food on it, to interact with vehicles on the road much or at all. You see song birds or whatever scoot low across a road occasionally, but it's actually pretty difficult to hit something moving perpendicular to you that fast, even if you're going 50+ mph. Particularly with all the wind disturbance cars kick up. You'll see a roadkilled one only very rarely -- carrion eaters or predators (swooping for something near or on a road and getting hit, near as I can tell) are more common, but still quite rare.

You'd probably want to check parking lots for vehicle interaction behavior in birds, but the circumstances there tend to be a good bit different than with a road proper. There's probably studies out there in any case, vehicle infrastructure fucks with bird habits in all sorts of ways.

I mean... why? Short term high risk insurance is already a thing in reality, nevermind something that could only be bought immediately after a purge, guaranteeing a certain period to leech money from the insured person. Purge insurance would almost certainly exist, cover acts of purge, and just be stupidly expensive or not pay much out.

... wouldn't purge insurance just be life insurance? Maybe some homeowner stuff bundled in or somethin'. Like, I don't know the setting basically at all, but you're calling purge insurance absurd and I'm just thinking no more than any other sort of insurance :-\

2k, according to the wiki, if you actually wanted to know its max health. 3.3k magicka. Immunity to poison and frost, 50% shock resist. The real trick is the 10 point passive restore health (and magicka). If you don't hit hard enough, fast enough, it's entirely unkillable even if you can survive the literally unending (unless you do enough int damage the lich can't cast its spells anymore) spells :P

Also the shield apparently gives a luck bonus so it's a dodgey 2k hp regenerating lightning throwing arsehole skeleton.

I think they were asking about what the good thoughts used to be.

Actually do seem to recall my initial exposure to gabbard being fairly positive, years ago, if I'm not conflating them with some other politician. I can't remember why, but I vaguely remember there being a point they weren't basically a living trash fire, or at least where I wasn't aware of it and had seen some okay/good things. Just don't ask me what they were, I don't recall and it no longer matters.

Everything aside, she's far from the worst character I've seen in an isekai work. Probably not even in the top hundred on that front -- for all her faults she's largely good intentioned or non-maliciously selfish, not particularly genocidal/casually murderous, don't recall her being rape-y, etc., etc., etc. As isekai goes she's schlock, not shit, basically. Like most of konosuba, heh. Trash, but not dumpster fire trash, I guess.

Frikkin' creeping mass of darkness lurching across the road on the way to work today.

Turned out it was a brown tarp that got loose and was getting blown around, but from a distance I was like wtf is a goddamn shoggoth doing crossing the street.

Mostly just noting the possibility of a relatively low barrier of entry not actually being low. A frictionless 80 degree wall is relatively easier to climb than a 90 degree one, probably, but that don't make it easy. Dude not knowing ways around official resistance would be a kinda' textbook example of a barrier of entry. Not caring wouldn't particularly be, but eh.

Weren't folks also discussing how the barrier for entry might not actually be that low, due to the established dentist et al field vigorously shitting on people interested in trying?
