The guy only got the top job literally a month ago (October 2019), so "head of Gainax" is kinda misleading. The guy doesn't come up with any sort of production credits for any shows (myanimelist and IMDB: nothing at all). So he's some sort of sleazy corporate suit who's ended up with the job, not someone with a production or animator background. "Otaku" types tend to be introverts, while mainstream Japanese businessmen are known to be incredibly sexist. Since this guy has literally zero production credits on any show, I'm guessing he's come across from a corporate background and not an animator/otaku background. That in itself makes the point: this has happened, it's not a common thing, and it *just happens* to be someone who's never actually worked in the production side of things.
So they'll get rid of him and it'll be no loss since he has literally nothing to do with the creative side of the business.
Also, rather than a child it was a 19 year old as far as the articles state/imply , and rather than sexual assault, he touched her leg. Touching a 19 on the leg is kinda different to claiming that someone sexually assaulted a child. That interpretation is not supported by any of the actual existent articles.
You. Do realize touching someone's leg can, actually, be sexual assault, right? Can we
not minimize that sort of shit just because it isn't trump tier crotch grabbing? "Rather" ain't the right damn word, ree.
