Similar but like... inverted. Evangelism's issues on that front are near entirely self-inflicted. People claiming the descriptor and their immediate allies have been the ones dragging it into the dirt , more than 'bout anything. Rather than other folks trying to pervert the term, outside observers have mostly just been kinda' going 'what the fuck are you people doing' or whatev'.

Communism et al's had dedicated campaigns to warp them by hostile actors, some of them basically nation scale. It had plenty of fuckups to drag it down, too, but also major sabotage and whatnot to go with it that's largely just not there with evangelism (yet, at the absolute least). There's similarities, but it's not a terribly close fit.

Well, in order to pirate something, some type of theft has to occur, and theft generally involves taking something someone was trying to sell for more than zero pennies.
Nah. Copyright infringement, yeah, but dat's not theft, per se. Piracy can involve stuff that ain't being sold anymore, after all.

... still, as per the toad, this ain't the thread for linking to that sort of thing regardless. Or the forum, for that matter. Free games thread also ain't really the place for a more meta discussion on the issue, now that I think about it. Eh. Typing in a tablet's a pain, so sunk cost post a gogo.

... isn't that just the dump-miracles-on-you card? *checks* Ah, apparently not. 25% current health for choice of gold (probably the only one worth that cost, eyeballing it), strength, or plated armor. Upgrade just increases the values. That. Does not seem at all worth, save maybe as some kind of low HP clutch thing. If you got reliable (and hefty) healing it might be an okay cash maker, though.

Unless you're immune to lightning. Then go wild, especially if something else fell in the drink with you :P

So far best spell i had was on a wand with no shuffle that had spark with a trigger and Cross explosion. it helped that i had the homing perk so the trigger spark will fly towards enemies and the Cross exploded on top of them for 90dmg.
I watched a run where someone just... took one pip of lighting bolt (the jaggy screw off one with the zappy explosion at the end) in a wand early and then facerolled the rest of the game. Killed multiple temple guardians with it, since apparently they can be stunlocked by electricity. It's was pretty amusing, in some ways...

NYT thinks it's cool to block, but they still haven't figured out how to stop you from ctrl-a, ctrl-c before their nag popup pops up, for what it's worth. Some websites have actually figured that trick out, heh.

What? How does knowing the effects of burning fossil fuels translate to believing trees and the wind have souls?
Step one is not knowing what the hell an animist actually is. Or climate change, I guess.

There's not really a step two, there.

I... don't think so, actually. At least not for the whistleblowing. If they're covered by the stuff that legally defines it, it more or less by definition precludes treason. You can't really betray the country to itself. Similarly, unless the country's explicitly declared war on its own population or some shite, you can't betray the country to the civilian population or something, either. Just as a sort of general thing blowing the whistle can't really slot itself into treason. It's too... public, I guess would be the word.

They could be traitors for something else, but... not that. Colloquially they could be traitors in reference to specific relationships (betraying someone's trust, whatever), but, like. That's actually at most a contract violation or security fuckup or somethin' when it's in regards to an individual or non-nation scale organization. The narrow definition of treason cuts both ways, sometimes.

So, uh. What's your preferable alternative? I can think of some myself (most of which boils down to fund the fuck out of elder care and get doctors and/or social workers proactively instead of reactively involved also fucking pay our care workers bloody hell c'mon stop penny shitting some of the hardest care work in existence) but it'd take friggin' massively expanding how much we invest in elder care, to bankroll the extra people it would require and the duties they'd be dealing with.

Played a round of night of the full moon for the first time in... months. Completely fresh start, new device and everything so the persistent progression stuff wasn't even there. Promptly just bloody rolled the game with a crazy axe (dupes basic attacks when played)/card draw knight. By the end of it I was first-turn killing end-game enemies and ending fights with more armor than I had max health. Most of the time I was playing my entire deck every single turn. The witch boss took about three turns, and I came out of it with more health than I started it with. Good stuff.

Spoiler: deck screenshot (click to show/hide)

Tries to replace it, anyway. It's still heavily reliant on 'pray family will take care of your rotting ass' for much in the way of quality of life (or not going bankrupt and then ending up on the streets or something) in plenty of places that have pensions (or some equivalent). Elderly care infrastructure is basically fucking abysmal in most places, from what I understand, and the lack is mostly dumped on the shoulders of relatives. Definitely know that stateside it's a major, growing, and mostly kept quiet problem, and so far as I'm aware many other developed nations also aren't doing so hot on that front. We were not prepared for people to make the gains in average lifespan we have made :-\

It's not mobile, yet, but you might be interested to know that dan-ball has started working on Stick Rangers 2. Looks like it's going to be a bit more contained than the first, but it's already fairly interesting.

They get their membership fees largely through that kind of hysteria. They've been pushing that sort of rhetoric for like years, decades or somethin', and they're still around. It's horseshit, just the kind of horseshit their members will shell out money for.
