Mind, it's less scientific technological elite and more rampant statisticians or something. Excepting that the actual ones of those tend to be pretty horrified, too, if no less functionally held hostage by various embodiments of capitalist excess. It's sadly not the scientific elites holding folks captive, and it's pretty clear there Eisenhower was hella' wrong on that equal danger front.

Eat the rich, etc., etc.

Carlos Santana is also apparently a player for the Cleveland Indians, who presumably did something good recently, according to a sports news article I didn’t really understand. Could that have drawn Yoink’s ire?
That's... possible. I'll probably mildly hate this second guy, too, if so. I can remember one of the music world's more famous guitarists but some rando ball fondler trying to horn in on that name recognition is a nuisance.

I fucking hate Carlos Sultana, or whatever his name is.
... Santana. The guitar guy, yeah? Is there some kind of reason for it or do you just hate that specific sort of guitar playing? Unless there's something offstage I missed with the guy to draw ire, he was generally a pretty good performer of the style he tended to play.

Macross and some other stuff remains in licensing hell, near as I could tell with a quick look.

We might get more robotech, though :P

Like... I think so? Homebrew's mostly legal, iirc, so long as your keep your mouth shut about where bios files and whatnot may or may not have came from. Might be different with newer consoles, I'unno.

Basically if whatever you want to talk about isn't in a legal grey area or illegal, you're good. If you want to talk about the stuff it'll be your responsibility to make sure what you want to talk about is in the clear. If you're still in doubt after that, just ask Toady. From what I've noticed he tends to be willing to answer questions like that for folks that aren't sure.

We're not nearly large enough to have a normal bulk disposal system, unless you count the dumpster or our patrons :P

We don't really try to resell off old or valuable books, though, at least from what I've seen so far. It's either keep, shuffle to some other library, or functionally or literally give away.

Library's storage closet, not a personal one, heh. Been inventorying the years-largely-untouched storage closet mostly out of lack of anything else to do at the moment. Boss-person has the signed book now, what they plan to do with it I'unno.

The treatise, uh. Probably be given away at some point, honestly. It's in legitimately bad condition, if still intact other than looking pretty horrible and being brittle and whatnot. Most of those get discarded (put out to give away) if there's not some reason to invest a lot of effort into repair work (we're not really set up or trained for vis a vis really old stuff in particular). Might see about getting in touch with a conservation library or whatever that word (archival?) is at some point, I'unno. We've got a handful of century old books we don't really know what to do with.

Dug a signed mark twain book out the storage closet today. Printed 1899.

... also a 102 year old treatise on double sided bookkeeping/accounting. Pretty terrible shape, but still awesome. Another week or two and I think I'll be done with the closet inventory!

... well, hope that works out for you. Most of the time going to sleep earlier due to anxiety exhaustion just seems to make you more tired the next day and/or interrupt your sleep (a few times) over the night. So, uh. Good luck :P

also your avatar seems to be missing if that's a replacement account just sayin'

A week or two, iirc? Recovery's not super slow but it takes a bit of time.

Couldn't really comment on the second bit, though. All sorts of reasons a person might have an animal but not be taking terribly good care of it, especially when it's a cat they're letting roam.

To a fair extent I can't say much on the subject, personally... there's a handful of cats we feed but otherwise don't really take care of. What isn't financial on that front is effort issues alongside like the utter lack (pretty literally utter, there's no animal control or equivalent in the county and the nearest pound-like thing is like an hour's drive away) of animal support services around here. Y'feel bad about it sometimes but option two is basically just letting them starve, so...

Eh, fair enough. Like said, I haven't read the thing at all, heh, and it's not a general area of fiction I'm particularly familiar. The skim looked romance/shojo-y, and I when I was hunting for recs a ways back that was roughly the way it was described (well, near as i can recall several months later), so was rolling with that, heh.

Eh, nah. Wasn't any bite-claw going on, just crawl-hang. It's a pretty young kitten, not even weaned, so no hunty stuff quite yet. They're just barely in the move around phase.

... I haven't read any (save a spot check for overt smut), but I did order some volumes of it for our local library a few months back :V

There's definitely plenty of similar stuff, though. Can't really recommend any besides maybe jitsu wa watashi wa or mebbe the ancient magus' bride (which isn't quite the same thing, but sorta' in a similar direction), but you're basically just looking for high quality romance and/or shojo. There's plenty of that on the market, I just don't consume enough to know much. Maybe a bride's story? It's pretty well known historical romance type stuff, iirc, just 'ware the occasional frontal nudity.

Somewhere between happy and wtf, just had a kitten crawl up on my foot and hang on for a bit while I was walking around. Which is about as adorable as you'd think but also leads you to wonder what the tiny cat thinks it's doing.
