Ok look, there are ways around that. Unless it's some kind of magic anime curse, as such things often tend to be, that is not a realistic drama point.
It's not even the first time I've heard of that plot coming out of japan. Last time I can recall didn't involve a magic anime curse (just interspecies incompatibility), but the cure did involve magic harpy, uh. "Oil." The world's a weird place, some days...

Capitalism is fundamentally about people using their assets as efficiently as possible, under whatever regulations apply.  Blaming individuals for doing exactly that is only treating the symptoms.
Theoretically, more than fundamentally. In practice, wild inefficiencies (that are pretty inherently baked into the systems involved) often rule the proverbial waves due to various... let's call them pre-existing conditions. Maybe it'll cause an insurance magnate's head to explode, somewhere. it'd probably be a net gain in terms of lives ahaha

The only fair price in capitalism is the one you can convince someone to accept :V

I'd expect the 9 to have came as much from the subject as it did from any predecessor, yeah. And the Cinderella thing just being generic (presumably) gacha shlock. It's fairly likely there's no connection to the p9 thing. The original names for both of them seem to make it pretty unlikely there is, actually.

What the fuck did that rifle shoot? Space Marine electric demon infected bolts???
It doesn't actually take much if your power grid's designed badly enough. Hit the right transformer or whatev' and you can wreck a pretty wide area. If stuff's bottlenecked through single installations or sufficiently unhardened/non-redundant you can hit something and cause a cascade failure, all it takes is messing up like one box to see it all drop, and it doesn't take daemon bolts to manage that much.

One of the myriad annoying things about all this shite is claims like a single sharpshooter dropping most or all of the country is more plausible than it should be :-\

And generally enough, that's basically a win, if varyingly minor. Even if people find a way that doesn't mean as many will, and that many fewer dice you're rolling on someone biting the not-so-metaphorical bullet. "People will find a workaround" is only meaning neutral, so to speak, if the same number of people do. Otherwise it's not much of an argument against the whatever.

Not saying this critter's plan is a good idea, mind. Just that the potential existence of workarounds isn't a particularly strong point on its own to leverage against the concept.

Most VHS tapes in existence are probably wearing out - the magnetic strips don't last forever. They don't make VHS players anymore, not even DVD/VHS combos, and even VHS->DVD/Digital converters are rare.
This, aye. They just more or less weren't seeing circulation, so out they went to make space for stuff that might. Most weren't actually trashed, but we've been giving them away for like five cents a whatever. We're down to maybe three or four dozen (out of hundreds, maybe breaking four digits) left, outside a handful of kids tapes kept for holidays.

We've thrown out more or less all the VHS tapes so no, definitely not total recall.

Hell if I know. It was a book on breast care (one of a passel of twenty+ year old medical books I pulled out of our closet to try to figure out why the hell they were sitting in the library's closet), and the page was something about... whatever medical condition leaves folks with extraneous nipples. I didn't pay much attention, honestly. The important parts for me outside a general condition check is at the front or back of the book.

So Trump designated Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps a terrorist organization. This comes after reports they'd do so that surfaced in the last month. Note that they are part of Iran's government!
Wait a tick, isn't that one of the groups trump laundered money for?

What the actual fuck
Unless it's changed fairly recently, the USCIS -- the organization that handles that sort of thing -- is congressionally mandated to be entirely self-funded. Or to put it another way, their government's budget for them is $0.00 USD. If you're wondering what the fuck is going on, it's "The USA isn't paying anyone to process those applications."

In own wtf, was processing a book today, and the first page I open it to see is mostly occupied by a photo of a women with three nipples. Welp.

I'd really just prefer no fuckdamn ancient people at all. My general vote won't change -- it's going to be whatever isn't running on the R ticket -- but I'm not voting for a goddamn septuagenarian in the primary, full stop. Not bernie, not biden, not whatever other corpses manage to exhume themselves for a presidential end run.

Don't we already have those, though? Landfills are a thing, and I'm pretty sure some of them involve fire.

... I mean. To be fair. One of the easier ways to get a Sacramento built is to lay down a railroad and series of hotels leading there. Generally faster to build something like that with transit infrastructure and whatnot already built and giving you a nice trail to prime real estate.

Innsmouth isn't part of the EU, tho'. It's not even on the same side of the atlantic. American grasp of geography is bad but it's not bad enough to teleport a massachusetts town to europe...
