Other Games / Re: Slay the Spire - Deck-building to Death or Glory

Last boss is pretty random, though I've never really noticed any of them except the time jackass countering a specific deck type. Sleepy could maybe be considered countering power heavy decks but you kinda' have to have a pretty sketchy power loadout to not explode the thing before its scaling becomes a problem. Similarly the remaining one basically boils down to "can you kill the donut hole fast enough?"... or out scale the strength gain, I guess. Time jackass is about the only one that ever kills me if I actually make it to the act 3 boss, heh.

And yeah, most runs have three minga melon jerkeybyrds. Pretty sure you occasionally get it more than once, even. I'm not sure the alch stone actually makes their fight harder, though. The extra energy means it's that much easier to knock them out of the air.

Nah, it's not okay.

And literally everyone of those who say it is would refuse to eat that steak if it was theirs.
You'd be surprised/horrified. I've had to intercept family that was going to cook/eat stuff that had been on the floor and had bugs crawling on it. Also have to regularly check to make sure food is put up after cooking/eating. They don't hesitate to leave stuff (that can make you sick/actually kill you if not promptly refrigerated or whatev') out for literal days, exposed to air, and still eat it.

How these people live for decades and not make the subsequent toilet inhabitation connection, I still don't understand. Senility only goes so far and doesn't excuse the ones younger than me.

Quote from: Tales of Herding Gods, chapter 33
Granny smiled, "Don’t think too much. We are all normal people in the village. We are all so poor that we are struggling to make ends meet. In addition, we are all disabled elderly, thus everything is normal in our ordinary village. If you suspect that Mute’s chest is full of sword pellets, you might as well suspect that the water cauldron at that corner is also a treasure!"

Qin Mu looked at the water cauldron that she talked about. The cauldron was placed under the roof of the workshop to collect the rainwater, however, the weird thing was that Qin Mu had never seen the water cauldron being filled to the brim before. No matter how big the rain was, the water cauldron was always half full!

Furthermore, the water in the cauldron had never run out as well much less being completely empty. Mute used buckets and buckets of water during blacksmithing and yet the water in the cauldron remained the same!

Granny Si saw the doubt in his eyes and felt that her example was wrong, and immediately corrected herself, "You wouldn’t think that the broken pots outside Apothecary’s door are also treasures right?"

Qin Mu looked at the broken pots outside Apothecary’s door. Unknown herbs were planted in the broken pots, along with some little insects like spiders, silkworms, and centipedes.

When the village was flooded just now, some water had gotten into the pots causing a few bugs to crawl out and started fighting on the pot. Suddenly a black spider flew into a fury and its body lit up on flames. The spider then grew into a size of a table and started spewing fire at the other little bugs. Amidst the flames, a few golden silkworms grew wings and became a foot long. They then flew out of the flames and started biting the spider’s body.

Apothecary stuck out his head and chided, causing the bugs to immediately shrink back to their tiny bodies and stay well behaved in the pot.

Qin Mu suspicion grew as Granny Si gave a force smiled and mumbled, "These are all normal occurrences, and nothing unordinary about it…"

Who knew that Jax was Icathian! Surprised me there!

his Icathian ancestry was pointed at some seasons ago, mostly from a color story involving a fight near Demacia that ended with him encountering Fiora. the real meat of the mystery came up with the release of Kai'sa and the new bios for several Void related champions. so he got retconned into a veteran and survivor from the Icathian-Shuriman war and the opening of the Void gate. he somehow became inmortal due to exposure to the void during the fight, allthought he kept his sanity and integrity of mind. his body not so much, thus the mask and others tuff covering him, his body has been warped.
This, of course, is all varying levels of BS. Jax is, and always has been, probably!American. The only question has been which Ninja Turtle he actually is, and what batch of interdimensional shenanigans caused him to end up in LoL land. The choice of weapon and base clothes coloration suggests donnie (who, in some branches of TMNT mess, has tooled around with interdim/time travel technology, giving an obvious means of arrival), but there's other options.

... though I guess he could have been some sort of native turtle species and it's the mutagen that crossed dimensions. Original flavor is more amusing, imo.

Gearhead would indeed be a free example to look out. Two moreso than the original, iirc. Maybe not the most amazing things in the world, but they do the job of getting you from point A giant robot deathmatch to point B giant robot deathmatch.

Huh. Can't say I expected that. Also didn't realize it had been years since the last update, heh.

Kudos to the studio, though. Deffo one of the better things you can do with a defunct-ish game.

why can't one of the girls in K-On be hit by a car and spend the rest of the season in a coma, with the other girls all visiting the hospital and being all sad and shit?

it just can't happen.

Never doubt the power of truck-kun, the harvester of souls
Truck-kun doesn't tend to leave survivors, though. When truck-kun shows up, it's isekai time, not coma time.

... also I just now notice that was three days ago. The intermittent fever tells me not to care.

I'unno, you might not be able to get away with anything living, depending on how you look at it. There's some radical pacifist groups that consider basically everything alive to be sacred, iirc, so both talbukian gnarldoggo and angler fish would be included. Might have better luck with inanimate/unliving stuff, maybe.

Grandfather remembers sleeping in chair most of the day. Actually left around eight in the morning, apparently didn't come home until five, six in the afternoon.

I'm entirely too sick to be dealing with this right now :-\

Eh... well, keep an eye out. Seem to recall mention of some new painkillers in the pipe that are like opioids, with less side effects. Pharmacology marches on, et al.
Less side effects =/= no side effects.
Oh sure, but less can still tip things away from pain. It's a balance between one sort of crippling and a potentially less sort.

It perpetually baffles me how people consider taking huge quantities of poison "fun".

If you don't die, it messes with your brain chemistry in interesting and enjoyable ways?
Potentially. Assuming your particular chemistry doesn't nail you with a nightmare trip or you don't find the effect to be severely unenjoyable regardless.

Avoid the stuff in general, personally, but surgery and whatnot has given experience with laughing gas and opioids. Can see why people go for it, but it was a profoundly unpleasant experience. The whole loss of control over your mind and whatnot fucking sucks homosexual elephant stud orgy level of balls. Was better than the pain, but bloody barely.

And now for your daily reminder the republican party wants to destroy America. Citing budget cuts (and being blatant corruption and malfeasance), HHS is set to turn off (without backup, without an archive made available, without someone else lined up to take over) a major database of medical guidelines.

I guess it'll be interesting, if morbid, to find out if someone tracking fatality rate/lifespan pays attention to see if this fucking bullshit quantifiably kills off american citizens.

So I've decided to name a pair of sibling kittens Bowl Cat and Holla' at ya' Cat. BC is easy, but I'm unsure whether to go with Yacat (yakkit) or Catya (catchya) with the other. Leaning towards catya, though, as it rolls off the tongue a bit easier. What do y'all think, of the two?
