It... has basically sod all to do with that, though. Same bile is being spewed towards stuff that is pretty unchallenged as accepted as art (e.g. movies/tv/etc.).

The ban it behavior is coming from a crowd looking for a scapegoat so they can continue to do bugger all about actual substantive causes of the issue in question. Something being or not being art is pretty much utterly disconnected from their thinking processes.

More serious than flooding, anyway. Current forecast where I'm at has 100% chance of rain every day 'till wednesday, then 80% until a week from now and 50% as far out as the prediction goes.

Incidentally, it's raining right now :V

No, spending per student has continually increased. Now I know this is an average, so doesn't account for the "wealth divide" in education spending.  But at least on average, US keeps spending more and more per student, with poor outcomes.  It's not a dollar problem - it has to be an effectiveness problem.
And the wealth divide is one of the bigger issues involved. We absolutely have lots of schools that are flat out underfunded. We also absolutely have ones that are pissing away cash on shit like overpaying admin or sports facilities or whatever the hell (and hell, there's overlap between the two, too, making funding problems even worse than they would be otherwise). It's both a dollar problem and an effectiveness problem, to varying degrees depending on specific locality. Kinda' have to remember when it comes to schooling, the U.S. is more like fifty separate countries than one single one, and some of those countries are in pretty shit conditions. Comparing its average to a single other country has a mess of problems.

Solutions are a whole barrel of messes, plural, though. Personally starting to get kinda' fond of the idea of saying fuck local budgetary control in the applicable orifice, but even glancing in that direction is going to taking fucking the piece of shit that is the persistently anti-public schooling GOP out of power to even be the glimmer of an option.

Creatures in the game fly around in the sky but are actually simulated populations which, if they die out, disappear. They need to eat, rest, etc etc or else they die. They also migrate from island to island.
...huh. So what I'm reading from that is xenocide, xenocide as far as the eye can see. What happens when there's nothing left alive besides the players that intentionally wiped out every critter population?

Cling wrap/aluminium foil and tape? Small plastic container of some sort plus something to seal it off? Plastic bag might work, too, sure. Probably hella' far from perfect, but mebbe enough to tide through a storm or two, if you can't just stick the machine inside for a day or three.

Scroll down to "meet the characters", it gives a quick description of the major players. And apparently Martians are Finnish, because "Mekki" strikes me as something a Finn would be named...
Huh. Zelia's mother hated weapons. In 40k land. As what seems to be reading as a rogue trader or something close to it, that was actively hunting up xenotech.

... how did she survive long enough to have kids, exactly?

By contrast, what would define a "divine" not considered as abusive as hell and still maintain its "divine" nature?
Eh, it's possible. You can have a position of power and authority without your relationship with those impacted by that becoming abusive. Divine stuff has a much, much easier time of it when they're more limited beings... stuff in the direction of the greek/roman gods (though pretty emphatically not them specifically) or small spirit type junk. But it's not impossible to have capability or nature generally ascribed to divine entities and avoid showing stereotypical abusive behaviors. Stupidly difficult for most monotheistic formulations given the whole physical reality is what it is with everything that says about the creator entity's decision making thing, but not impossible.

You just have to avoid things like capricious or disproportionate harm (so hell type stuff is right out, eye parasites are right out if there's the ability to prevent them (unless you're the god of eye parasites and bugger everyone else, I guess), genocide/mass murder is probably off the table for the specific divinity, etc., etc.), allow for some degree of give and take that's not entirely one-sided/at your whim, so on and so forth. Stuff that makes for a relationship that's not master and servant with a side of "beatings will continue until morale improves also they'll probably happen occasionally regardless".

When you're dealing with a relationship where all the power is on one side, it withholds the right to inflict any amount of harm on you it pleases, and there's no check or balance or means of leaving... that shit has a real hard time being healthy, y'know? It's not impossible but the standard of behavior for the one in power is real damn high, and unfortunately most scripture abrahamic or otherwise ascribes behavior to their divine that doesn't meet it at some point or another.

Though "made it and dumped it" sort of formulations sorta' get a pass. You could call it abusive by way of neglect but mostly it's just not a relationship anymore. The divine's kinda' a prick but they're also just not there so... *shrugs*

You... honestly probably don't want to come at it at that angle. Tends to leave the divine looking abusive as all hell. Might actually be worse than tangling with the whole problem of evil mess, now that I think about it...

Mind you, you can skip destroying the sunwall (tho, do remember it's a military outpost and one that had been constantly launching attacks to enslave/genocide the local orc populations so, uh, wrecking it isn't exactly a barbarous thing) if you feel like it.* Makes things harder and I'm not sure the game acknowledges it much but that's actually optional.

Strictly speaking I don't think you have to even bust open the bridge or free the enslaved orcs; the campaign's win condition is straight south from the starting town and open as soon as you get out whatever your starting area is.

* I actually tend to just 'cause the map layout for it is kiiinda' annoying, heh.

Hey, if you're enjoying it it's all good. Nothing wrong with playing things a bit sub-optimally so long as you're still having fun.

The wood elves probably come the closest... maybe. They mostly seem to just want to be left alone. Iirc the dwarves arguably aren't far off from that, too, but they have a nasty habit of digging too deep, heh.

... everybody else is pretty rough though, aye.

I understand what you mean, but I found that specific example strange, as I donīt think light is canonically "good" in this setting.
It... might have been previously, sorta'? Then it got fully opened back up to undead so...

Power wise I don't think there's really a "good" at all, exactly. Evil, largely yes (hate and vim), and neutral, sure (basically everything else), but not explicitly good. Equilibrium's anti-undead and some of it's anti-arcane but it's less "good" and more "murderous attempt to establish/maintain a monopoly".

Light flavored celestial stuff's arguably the most acceptable of arcane powers, maybe? Can't recall it being fingered much for the spellblaze, and it's not really in the west much at all so the whole genocide-the-magic-users thing isn't as applicable.

Nightmare's harder than normal but largely only somewhat, from what I've noticed... most of what play can win on normal can win in nightmare. Tedious bullshit only really kicks into gear with the difficulties above it.

In a void I'd wager you were unlucky, basically. Maybe doing something weird vis a vis character build or itemization or somethin', I'unno.

Go more aggressive, mebbe'? I usually kill urkis/most-everything-in-the-west-except-sometimes-the-crypt without really giving a damn about resistances or HP stacking or whatev', personally, heh. Even on nightmare. Some of that's due to mods, but most of the sentiment is still applicable to vanilla. Can't be one-shot by something if you one-shot it first :V

... the out of sight thing is an issue, mind. High sight/light radius (or track, or something equivalent to it) is pretty high priority if you're going to be playing lazy. though OF's generally supposed to be lit up and not much attacks at >10 range so maybe make the window/resolution bigger so you can see everything you're supposed to be able to see?

Nah, it's a web/light novel type thing. Vaguely in the direction of wuxia/xanxia or whatever the words are stuff. Martial arts fantasy, this one by way of post-apocalypse sci-fi.

Like, I keep reading the stuff because I've apparently been jonesing all my life for people throwing mountains at people, but it's worth noting the general quality of the protag/main character's ethics in these things have a very strong trend towards fucking atrocious, worse than casual murderhobo adventurer stuff. You get used to the casual mass murder/occasional rape/regular slavery/etc., but from time to time you run into an example of extra!bastard.

So far this one had mostly just been casual mass murder, even! Almost a paragon among morally bankrupt fooxia character, really. But then the intentional drug epidemic, eeyy.
