Asked, yes, but apparently not actually told the military muckitymucks to do it until now.

I think I'm pretty solid on my thoughts on the subject, heh. Go for it, but Trump pays for the parade and donates an extra 10-20% over the base logistics costs to the VA. If the military's going to fellate the ego of a multiple draft dodger the fuck should not piss away taxpayer dollars to have it done and should drop a few million on top of the parade costs to save the lives of americans that didn't indulge in such behavior.

Yea, Old English. It's strongly related to the old Nordic languages. My quote was the opening to Beowulf, starting with "Lo!" and ending with "A good king was that!"

Well, actually, I've seen Hwaet translated as "Hey," "Wait," "So," "Listen." But "lo" is my preferred reading.
After seeing that, the only proper reading is "Hey, listen!"

Gotta' git cho navi on.

Trump now saying he'd "love a government shutdown". If a company's CEO said "Hell yeah, I'd love to see us go out of business", wouldn't you fire that CEO?
Possibly out of a cannon, really. Depends on how serious the CEO is, how much attention the stockholders are paying, and how good the latter's connections with a local circus is. It's perhaps unsurprisingly difficult to find a cannon, never mind one built to fire people out of it.

Sure, but long having claimed responsibility for the people doing so? Eeyup. See first sentence, starting at "getting him".

How the heck does one even make those map mistakes? lol....
Casual reminder trump is old, and some idiots gave him enough power people have a good deal of trouble telling him he fucked up, or getting him to accept the "best" people around him did, or etc. Mistakes of that sort aren't the most unusual when your mind is deteriorating from age and poor health.

If things are going well there's folks around the elderly in question to help correct and whatnot and the older person is in good enough health/has good enough character to accept the aid, but particularly when there's a major power disparity involved between the person and those trying to help, or those trying to help need "help" in quotation marks, or the old blighter is in fact a massive fuckwit, well, you're no longer dealing with "going well".

Normally this means things like having to hide the car keys or rushing someone to the hospital because they overdosed on insulin or somethin', but normally doesn't involve executive power or access to launch commands :-\

Dunno about that. KSBD is decently heavy on the punch magic fantasy influence, from what I've noticed, and dead things still putzing about stabbing people isn't terribly unusual for that stuff.

It seems the GOP hand this time shutdown wise is holding the community centers they've let lapse in funding hostage to get the can CR kicked down the road to march.

This is, of course, after utterly failing primarily, near as I can tell, to get to trump to pull his senile head out his racist advisors asses enough for ryan the spineless to be able to read clear enough smoke signals to convince his craven shit of a self to actually let something get voted on DACA/immigration nature in the house.

Will this hostage situation work to cover republican political incompetence/malfeasance, again, who knows. Sooner or later they're going to start risking running out of bodies to hold a financial gun to the head against if they keep this shit up.

Um....in case you missed it, the Dow Jones fell 1175 points today. Worst one-day loss in history.

Finally, Trump has an actual superlative that's true!
I totes missed it. There signs it's because of something specific, or is it just the cavalcade of shit that is this administration finally starting to pile up in a real visible way?

Robin hood? Never seen it.
That's the one with the fox in a hat right?
And, more importantly, the whistling chicken man bard and one of the few bits of whistlin' you see in animation/film/whatever I'm not saying it's been sitting in my playlist since however many years ago it occurred to me someone would have made a mp3 of it, but I'm not saying it hasn't, either. It's overall pretty great imo, particularly for that era of disney animation.

Also lion king's totes a'ight. Would kick it out of bed in the morning 'cause that'd be starting to get weird no matter how much nala/simba/etc. porn there is, but it could crash on the couch or somethin'.

I wonder why people drink alcohol, considering it's awful smell. Literally every alcohol product, including soft ones, like wine, smells like a bum who didn't have a shower for a year.
I've smelled some really, really mild ones that are actually alright, scent wise, and I'm pretty damn sensitive to the smell. They would smell better without the alcohol, but they're more or less tolerable even if you're very sensitive to the smell of booze. Now, that's happened like... twice... in the last twenty plus years, but I'd contend it's at least possible. Want to say some version or another of kahlua (maybe mixed in with something?) is one of the easier sorts of that kind of thing to find if you're looking for it.

Any case, personal wtf this morning was walking by what may have been the gayest scene in what I think is a laramie western I've yet seen. Older bearded military captain, younger officer, "Captain, I have about four drinks worth in a bottle back in my quarters. Would you... like to join me in my quarters for a drink?" Or thereabouts. I'm pretty sure the context was someone died and military processing of grief or something, but without that context it was just kind of takei level "Oh My" followed by maybe dramatically fanning yourself. Hell of a thing.

Yes.
"I'm a fanfiction writer."
And here's the actual content.
... yeah, okay, that's more a +5 lily bonus to will save, right there. Just as soon as I finish getting stuff in order around life space, think I'll be finally catching up.

Its from this page.  As my browser sees it the first comment is about being gay for the buff devil and there are more as it goes on.
I see it too. Mildly odd to me, as that particular critter isn't pegging (*coughs*) my gay conversion metrics much at all. I can see the general direction but usually that sort of reaction seems to require a bit more... something. Sometimes depends on gender. Not nearly enough muscle definition, glistening, or bulging, as appropriate, just for a few, nonexhaustive, representative points of identification. It's not babby's first orientation confusion inducer but it's not far from it.

... also it's really been a long time since I last looked at any KSDB, and the chainsaws on a stick were, uh. Unexpected.

I can't help but think it may have been a good idea to ban potatoes, too. You dun need a potato peeler to peel potatoes, and I can only imagine adding potato detritus to an already vaguely nightmarish post-performance cleanup could do the janitorial workers no favors. To say nothing about the whole spud throwing issue potentially causing murder or manslaughter. Potatoes can get decently weighty and people bits are soft and squishy in places...

General Discussion / Re: I like anime, do you like anime?
« on: February 03, 2018, 09:07:34 am »
Well, you have options once you finish. You can reread it! Or watch the anime. Find or create fanfiction. indulge in the fairly copious amount of porn wait no. Talk about the themes and plot with people! Find something else to consume. Or none of those and go find something else to do with your time. The horizons are broad and your choices as wide as the skyline, plus or minus however many choices pairs flowery language down to reality.
