There's a good handful of drugs that aren't as bad for you as alcohol is, heh. It's been pretty rare but I've met one or two folks that wouldn't touch alcohol, but had some other sort of drug they indulged in.

Well, you need to supply it, or at least deal with the effects of not. Situation allowing, if for whatever reason you don't want to use the best source available, that's by and large okay.

... which is good, otherwise I probably would have starved to death decades ago. Gods know why but most non-grain vegetables taste vomit-inducingly bad to me, very much literally. Probably just another quirk of shit genetics, bleh.

Meat eating's part of a few cultural whatsits, mostly tied to some of the more irritating parts of male behavioral assumptions. That causes flak towards vegetarian dietary choices; "real" whatever eats meat, bits related to hunting culture, insinuations regarding behaviors (usually associated with negative comparisons to various herbivorous animals), and so on. It doesn't have to be particularly grounded in reality, heh.

There's also the association with left-wing political movements and any number of demeaning stereotypes regarding individuals who make the choice to eat like that. It's unusual, so it gets used as a convenient target. It's a sign largely limited to an out-group, so certain sorts are actively against it for functionally no other reason. Etc., etc., etc. It's not difficult to see how people would be anti-vegan, it just generally is a sign the person in question is something of a raging jackass.

Hell, to an extent the stock market means jack all. Folks have started noticing that the extent that slate of market fluctuations reflects the situation on the ground is growing increasingly smaller. It going down pretty certainly won't help, but it staying fairly high might not help much, either.

It'd be a certain sort of interesting if we had recession or depression conditions for most of the population but kept a steady stock market growth, heh. We've seen fairly explicit statements recently-ish by industry leaders that they have zero intent of passing any gains they make onto anyone except their stockholders, iirc, who aren't exactly known for infusing their own gains back into any part of the economy most of the population gives a shit about.

Also do remember, we're slightly overdue/right on time for that big financial crisis. At minimum recession is coming pretty soon, and, so far as fiscal policy goes, of course the GOP is doing about everything they can manage to pave the way for it to be worse than it could have been for more or less the most people they can fuck over.

Effectively the hammer is set to drop on that front in less than four or five years or thereabouts, never mind ten or thirty. Shit's near certain to sour in under a decade, the only question is how bitter it gets.

Kickstarter or something similar would probably be part of something like that, sure.

... more traditional gambling, not so much. People have convinced me to spend enough of their money on the stuff over the years to know how enjoyable it is for me. Be marginally more interested in taking up the hobby of prodding my eyeballs with a fork.

Pretty sure you mean past the normal meth stage and into the meth spiked coffee syringes. Last I checked it's either meth or speed that's fairly endemic to lawyers -- there is no meth overtime, just meth always.

Pretty sure significantly less than wind and rain, really. Some of us actually enjoy that kind of weather. Probably more in the general vicinity of prostate exams or somethin'. Is still thing that needs done, but please hurry and get your fingers out of my ass.

Yeah, it'd be nice. New computer and roughly what I've spent on gaming since like '09, every month? Or three to five months of grocery bills. Etc., etc. I'd be down with it.

... actually pretty sure I wouldn't really be able to figure out how to spend it within a month or three. 3k USD worth of loose change would cover basically everything I'm even remotely interested in currently on the market, near as I can recall off the top of my head. Much of anything beyond that would be some kind of weird frivolous cash dumping. Guess it would entail getting the donation spending on or somethin'...

Close family, sure, but when chunks of that are working two jobs or whatever and buried under debt/health-issues-they-can't-afford-to-treat/etc., like. Even with pretty minimal stuff stress can get involved real easy.

Wunnit (the major?) part of the problem so far as in-this-lifetime-dissolution of social security something about the funds that were in SS being shanghai'd for other uses? If my memory's not failing me yet again. Basically that money ostensibly paid to yourself (well, if you're under somewhere in the 40s or 50s) in the future by way of government trust got fucked into some fiscal hole or another before you started pulling it back out. Part of the myriad ways our elders have been screwing the younger generations over, heh.

Want to say I remember it happening mostly because a certain set of fucks (with somewhat more across the aisle support a decade or two ago, for what that's worth) keep doing their damnedest to defund sodding everything, too. Sometimes via screwing tax revenue, sometimes other means. Memory's pretty fuzzy on the details, though. It's one of those things I paid more attention to at one point, but got slotted into the general "fuck the republican party with a nail encrusted cactus" sentiment that's been building as the shits keep trying to wreck my goddamn country and sodomize my and upcoming generations into the dirt.

Other Games / Re: Games for an integrated graphics card
« on: December 21, 2017, 09:05:21 am »
Yeah, quick gander at the specs looks like the thing's better than the machine I'm running, heh. That's not saying much since my comp might as well have tiny monkeys instead of a CPU, but you're probably fine for most things. Might just have to turn the settings down for more intensive/newer stuff.

From what I understand, integrated cards usually are optimized-ish for non-game programs, but at the end of the day a graphics card is a graphics card. Most things have have problems with integrated stuff has issues with the strength of the specs, not anything particular to the type of card. Might be some driver related junk, but far as I've seen that's not really all that common.

Not really much like shin megami... more like dragon quest monsters. Very much like DQM, since siralim's basically its random dungeons taken to another level, as a game. It* has its limitations, but overall they're pretty ruddy good at what they set out to do. Good stuff, particularly so long as you're not expecting more than what the game sets out to do. Pretty sure there's dedicated threads for both of them sleeping somewhere a ways back in Other Games (and by pretty sure I mean I started one of them :P).

There's demo/free versions both on mobile and PC, iirc... might not be for 2, but definitely is for 1. If you're interested but hesitant, check that out first. While the full versions (and particularly 2) are more and better than the free stuff, the free stuff gives you a very solid idea of how the general game plays out.

Though just to reiterate, if you're going to put money in it, get the sequel. Siralim 2 improves on pretty literally every feature of siralim 1, and adds more besides.

* I use singular because the sequel is better in literally every way; siralim 1 might as well not exist at this point, heh. There's zero reason to get 1 besides not being able to afford 2.

Blazes if I know, especially regarding vanilla at this point. Least with some of the mods xari's running there's not much chance of that without the yoyo bag whatsit, though. Be real surprised if yoyos were taking top place without that thing even in the base game, really... they're competitive with it, but not having it like, what, cuts your output to something under half? It's the game maker accessory for the things, heh.
