Or run a few mods, containment unit wise. The game has room to dig significantly faster than that thing manages by default, yeah. Most of the means I've seen are post secondary infestation, but eh.

Any case, means of preserving other biomes I'm recommending is to just kinda' not try for the whole thing. Pick a chunk that's untouched and treat it after the spread, or blow out a chunk prior and clentaminate the manageable bit that gives afterwards. You only need so much of it for critter et al generation, heh, and it's waaaaay less trouble to keep or make a handful of screens in a few spots clean than try to save the whole thing.

Though apparently if you really want to keep the whole jungle, hallow doesn't convert mud? Could conceptually line the thing with hallow and call it a day, so far as jungle preservation goes. Also... the spread generally isn't that fast. If you're on a large world in particular it's fairly unlikely you won't finish whatever it is you intend to do before it becomes much of an issue, so just... not worrying about it, is pretty viable.

She also could and did staff the DNC with supporters.
Though just in case for some reason people are forgetting it, again, "staff the DNC with supporters" is also known as "has been majorly supporting the party for literal decades". Not doing that would have taken purging the party apparatus of much of itself.

...any case, I seriously don't have the energy to get into that mess with the amount of treatment doing so deserves, but I'd definitely recommend taking the words of the person trying to shill their book with a certain degree of salt. Biggest thing I've noticed about junk related to DB and her book is that a lot of what's coming out of it and surrounding comments by her are variously coated in bullshit, or are utter non-news we've known about for a while. There seems to be a bit of opportunistic shit flinging going on.

Took dog out for morning walk. See kitten having managed to get itself inside in a fishing net. Kitten sees me + dog, promptly tries to get away, and then freaks the fuck out because, y'know, stuck in fishing net. Take a bit of time for the whole contact and yes-I'm-not-going-to-try-to-eat-you-calm-down dance, let get kitten out of the net after it's chilled enough to stop trying to take my hand off for doing so. Kitten dips the hell out, obviously enough.

Actually get dog off porch, do morning don't-defile-my-house routine, head back inside. Come up to porch. Kitten back inside fishing net. Stare for a moment as kitten freaks the fuck out, round 2, fight!

...

I guess it at least figured its own way out the second time, after trying and failing to wall walk through netting a few times? It... sorta' learned?

Quote from: The Golden Thumbing of Dong, chapter 637
Mo Jingtian slowly nodded his head. He knew that from this day on, the Lin Clan would become the most powerful faction in the empire. In fact, even their Imperial Family would not dare to do anything to them.

Because, the Lin Clan had produced a Lin Dong.
It may be because it's twenty minutes till 1 AM, but. I laughed. also no, that's not the actual title of the work, it's wu something or other, it's in my post history if you actually care

Because they're old or they're already aware they're pretty certain to lose the race if they try :P

Least that seems to be a fair chunk of it, anyway. Not so sure they're seeing twenty years ahead rather than twenty months or less, heh.

... please don't feed a dog caffeine. Things are more sensitive to the stuff than humans, it's even worse for them than it is for us. Particularly extra. Extra caffeine in a dog can straight up kill it, particularly when they're small.

Either way, let's take the discussion of kidnapping and dog poisoning elsewhere, yeah? Wouldn't have chimed in at all if it wasn't for the suggested animal abuse, tongue in cheek or not...

6502
Was a lot of stuff people kept trying to tell everyone was obviously shady, anyway.
I just have one question, how do the Republicans not see all of this blowing up in their faces for the next 20 years ???
The trick is that they either don't care if it does,* or can't stop doing it unless they want things to blow up in their face for the next 4-6 years in particular, depending on the individual politician.

Some might not see it coming, but there's not much they can do about it either way save jump ship, and that has good odds of losing them their next election just as well. Twenty year time scale isn't really something they can consider these days, even compared to normal for a stateside politician.

* Do remember, things blowing up for the next twenty years, especially if it screws over the government and/or their political establishment in the process, is a win condition in the eyes of some of these folks.

I'm sure the spooks that were recording them would say he does, assuming they wouldn't have to disappear you afterwards.

If the character has the money and you're not that concerned about aesthetics, a good ten stack or so of dynamite straight down on both sides of whatever you want to preserve, and then taking sticky dynamite and connecting the bottom (and top, if you're doing it underground), works just fine. Much faster than trying to dig through it. Conceptually you could want to go deeper, but in practice a ten stack hole will give you more space than you'll probably ever need. And if it turns out you want more later, that's also how you cut out a chunk to clentaminate without having to worry about missing something or more stuff infecting the joint afterwards.

Trick to it all is that 3 tile or whatever is the technical necessity, but that is a hell of a lot of digging and entirely too goddamn much attention to detail. Blow a bomb tunnel around whatever you want to keep and call it a day. Takes a few minutes and you get to blow up a decent chunk of the landscape.

I have a dream that one day both crunchy and soft bacon eaters, and indeed all bacon eaters will live in harmony.

('cept turkey bacon. screw that.)
Man, my bacon harmony is on point. I'm down with the devil bacon, I'd just rather have non-devil bacon.

... also turkey bacon is fine, too. Practical standpoint it tends to have more play room than bacon bacon, even. Stuff tends to be cheaper and lighter on junk like salt, so it can be used as bacon inroads for poorer folks and those needing to avoid high sodium stuff or whatev'. Somewhat different sort of marginally healthier bacon, but it's still bacon, bird bacon or not.

Also yeah ak, probably want to go ahead and call up your/a dentist and tell them what's up rather than just ask for an appointment or somethin'. As folks are saying tooth doc'll often make some room for someone whose teeth done turned black.

Spoilered for size, but.

I think my witch doctor just died. Pretty sure the witch doctor died. Doc totally died. In a fire. Dead as all hell.

So far as the lasers go, I want to say you can go under or over them, if you have room to dash the same direction they're going and pull down/up as hard as possible, without needing to teleport. 'Bout the best I can offer for that one, though. I may be giving my solid try to dodging, generally, but I also said to hell with it a long ways back and set to freezing my HP. Mostly dealt with the lasers by ramming the lasers, heh.

... alternately, if you can kill it fast enough, either the lasers don't come or there's few enough you can tank what does if you can't dodge it. As harped on repeatedly, a white dwarf setup can do it. Probably best with an elemental disk for the first kill, but a molten whatsit (the providence drop) or shadow dagger can manage.

But yeah, dwarf set bonus + that disk and optionally (double) throwing book (probably the collection and the best single one) will basically straight up delete the devourer. Iirc it can spike into six digit DPS for that fight and maintain 30k+ per second with ease. The friggin' thing only has at most a million HP per notable phase. Can potentially kill it so fast the invincibility that kicks in when the smaller worm comes in doesn't have time to activate. It's faintly absurd. And beautiful. And performance wrecking, ehehe.

The combo's not as strong versus small(er, at least segment wise) enemies (mind you, it still wrecks several different kinds of face), but the dwarf set will just demolish worm enemies, the bigger the better, and with it the elemental disk in particular is just a barrel full of chainsaw monkeys hopped up on PCP and trying to hump every square inch of the boss. Just make sure it's the throwing version of the disk, heh.

E: Though now that I check, the second worm doesn't actually make the DoG invincible, just hides its health bar. Still, the dwarf/disk combo can kill it faster than the obfuscation goes active, so... yeah.

Also, if you like bacon, try roast scorpion. It's crunchier.
crunchy bacon is the devil

Mind you, it's still bacon and even devil bacon is bacon so long as it's bacon and not bacon shaped charcoal, but still. Evil. Crunchier is a condemnation, not a complement.

better than what happened to me, outside a walgreens someone was playing the bagpipes
I mean... were they any good? Walgreens bagpipes would definitely be weird, but it'd be nice if they were decent at it. Probably be second only to the accordion in the list of "somewhat off mainstream instruments being played in rando joints that would brighten my day". The pipes are somewhere in my top ten sound making things.

... though, won't lie, now I have this mental image of someone setting up outside a store with a full electronics set and some bagpipes and banging out some peatbog faeries or summat. That'd be surreal as all hell just about anywhere, never mind anywhere I visit with any regularity.

6509
Hell, never mind the dems in that scenario, you'd have good odds of pervasive bipartisan support for kicking the shit out of them to varying degrees of metaphorical once the GOP's elected figurehead doesn't have blowing putin as a desired policy goal, or is at least sufficiently marginalized the party's craven shit bumper stops being hit because of it.

Also yeah, Virginia got rocked, apparently. First openly trans congresscritter get?

Oh no, I'm pretty sure there's more than the moon lord that does it in calamity. Seems about up its alley for the late game stuff.

... also, should you reach the final boss of that, abyssal might end up hilarious. The last critter instakills you if you take too little damage from an attack (or if you get hit too many times). "Fortunately" its damage also scales with you so defense is functionally worthless unless you got some crazy stuff going on, but still.

Anyway, best I can offer with the polter was that iirc I avoided the most damage flying circles around it with either the UFO or rag chariot mount in a fairly small area (big for the dungeon, but still not much larger than its larger ones), occasionally canceling the ride midair so I could dash to get the hell away from it or grappling a platform/block to make momentum changes it couldn't sustain. Do have to touch down for a sec to get the mount moving right again, but it seems to work out, sorta'.

Want to say it's got cornering issues, basically, so if you can keep it changing directions it has trouble catching you and nomming your tasty tender face off. Using/abusing a dash accessory was pretty close to necessary to sustain doing that, though.
