Going 10 over the speed limit, at night, in the rain, and still getting tailgated? Drivers are idiots.
That was apparently in a 25 mph zone, 10 over being 35. It's a bastard of a thing getting people to stop going 50-60 through a 35 zone. Rol was lucky the twit didn't roll over the sidewalk or somethin' to pass them.

... in any case, in the continued adventures of Dong, it's now Dong, the man that was Dong's demon cat, and the man that was the ghost of a dead magic ferret that was living inside the magic rock lodged in Dong's hand. Also Dong primary occasionally is turning into a dragon now, because the dragon ape and golden statue thing wasn't enough.

Eh... nah, there's definitely more credibility for some kind of putin angle along those lines. Putin actually is/was a spook, and likely had various degrees of exposure to that kind of work. An extent of history and capability. Wouldn't necessarily be actual direct control, but working to get an incompetent in control of a competing entity is definitely out of the sorts of play books putin likes to draw from.

Trump on the other hand has bugger all in his past as support for an any dimensions chessmastery, and his competence is storied at this point. Notably less credibility for something from that angle.

... so anyone noticed the house has shat out its tax attempt? It's almost interesting, as it seems to fuck just about everyone outside of the extremely rich even more so than normal for GOP taxation bullshittery. There's cuts in there for the regular level of folks, but they're a substantially smaller portion of those that get benefits and a number of the deduction removals just kinda' screw over chunks of the working and middle class (never mind full on poor folks).

So far some of the highlights I've noticed, just since goddamn waking up this morning... takes a hilariously massive dump on higher education, to the point implementation could pretty easily cripple R&D on a nation wide scale. Fucks over people that adopt. Blatantly fucks over the parts of the country already disproportionately contributing to our tax coffers. Fucks veterans, killing the deduction that's pretty damn likely to have been a major aid towards getting them employed. Fucks over people with major medical expenses. Swathes of it are farcically tilted towards providing benefit in areas where the majority or supermajority of ownership lies in the hands of the top .01% of the country's earners, and to hell with the rest of us, a net hike on individual payments to marginally offset a massive cut in ones going to various sorts of business entities. and yes, I probably should link to all that but it's five in the morning and by the time I'm awake and done with stuff I have to do today, I'll probably have forgotten. It's not hard to scan the news for most of it, though.

It's like someone took a caricature of criticisms of republican positions on taxation and saw it as a good idea, but not going far enough, and then took out their twirling moustache before deciding which parts to take further.

Heh. Amusingly enough, there are ways to summon it without farming phantoms.

...

After you kill it. Since it drops the only source of the material to make its summoning item. Can buy it, too, but I think that needs you to off it first as well.

Anyway, vis a vis that trio you might want to murder signus until the cosmilamp falls out, if you didn't already get it. It's pretty nice... think it's at least comparable to the other stuff you have, and it seems to have an unusually good ability to effectively stunlock stuff. Even if it's not your primary summon it can be helpful to have one or two in the mix.

As for the blood moon thing, it can be annoying if you don't have a means to flip the time. Which you totally have access to, if you feel like building it. Need cyro bars, hellstone, and souls of night and light, but that's it and it just needs a mythril anvil.

... incidentally, the rain stone is a thorium depths chest item that's like the torrential tear, but better. It and the cosmolight and the only thing you won't be able to freely toggle are sandstorms and specialty moons (and they either have summoning items, or particularly in the case of that armor you mention, are trivial to activate by toggling the day/night cycle). Quite useful, heh.

Heh. That dragon breath conversion weapon actually does pretty cruddy (relative to its general area progression wise, anyway) DPS, iirc. Think its projectile is one of those that interferes with other stuff, which kneecaps total output hard. Was something along those lines. Remember toying around with it for a while and then realizing it was more pretty than good... though it is very pretty. Good illumination weapon in base thorium, can't even lick the feet of a clockwork bow (with something to cause the arrows to glow) or burning sky.

So far as ammo goes... even with ludicrous firing rate, you'll eventually get the means to stack up enough conservation chance you can still use non-endless ammo without much concern. Amusingly enough, though, I actually kinda' dislike the quasar, heh. It's a'ight, but it can be out DPS'd by a monsoon (tsunami upgrade, though that does take killing fishron), as well as a number of other ranged weapons (and we'll not talk about throwing, of course, since a white dwarf setup takes a dump on just about everything until you're getting into jungle dragon territory).

I'd definitely recommend checking out a clockwork bow... pretty sure you can build them with just luminite (and gears). Can't recall if it can actually out damage the quasar, but pretty sure it can get close and the illumination aspect is hard to beat (until you get the burning sky and can cover the screen in fire)... plus you basically don't have to aim. Remember it doing particularly solid damage to providence, since it's best vs. large enemies. Just make sure to comparison check (probably via DPS meter, or some sort of enemy benchmark), as the listed damage on a lot of late game weapons range from useless to outright deceptive, heh. Pretty sure providence drops a fairly nice bow, too.

Also yeah, those 2 slot ember staff things are pretty beastly, as mentioned. Definitely try them and compare DPS meter readings or whatev'. You'll eventually get to see a minion summon that takes a full four slots, ehehe (and is actually good enough it might be worth, and definitely is for at least one).

... in any case, today's number is 4. Four minutes of a zerg potion'd blood moon (mind, this was after 1.5 nights of merely candled blood moon failed) being funneled into my inventory to get a shark tooth necklace to drop. And when I say four minutes of a zerg potion'd blood moon, (fair warning, it's fairly large because I'm too tired to fix the sizing)
Spoiler: I mean all of it. (click to show/hide)
Got fed up enough with that 1.5 blood moons of no show I decided I needed a zerg arena. Burrowed through the batch of land somewhat leftwards my main I had been using for some boss farming and to deal with invasions.

That line of eyeball banners in the full one is what happens when you eat an entire bloodmoon with a zerg potion going. Potion lasts a little longer than the moon (like 30-40 seconds remaining), but eh. Faintly disgusting amounts of drops trashed aside, I ended up making around three or four hundred platinum by the end of it. Finally got my sharktooth necklace, with two more dropping by the time the sun came up. Waifus hitting for around 1k a hit, projectile wise, birbdragons doing, uh. More. Four slot or not they're pretty monstrous damage wise.

E: Oh, and definitely check any new throwing weapons vs. the mjollnir, doubly so if you actually rock the book/dwarf combo (pretty sure both at least the providence drop throwing weapon and the shadow dagger can out deeps it with that combo). Oddly enough, sexy as the hammer is its damage is kinda' sketchy relative to some of the other stuff roughly where you're tooling around.

Aye, definitely could use something more. That could be popful mail, depending on how far you stretch side scrolling shooter (and genesis, heh. Was a Sega CD game).

Aye, the incredible machine stuff... pretty sure at least some of them still work on modern computers, and if not it's nothing a VM or whatever with an older OS wouldn't be able to handle. Then there's just similar junk. Puzzle games are a dime a dozen, and ones along TIM's style aren't the rarest in the world.

Actually, hell, here. Thought to just check, heh. GOG has 'em, seems to claim it'll work up till win 10.

Yeeeaaaah rag's a gorram monster. Or three impeccably jerkish ones, anyway. For what it's worth, I'm faaairly sure they weren't balanced with revegence in mind, ha.

Recommendation remains white dwarf, heh. It with a throwing book and decent weapon helps a lot to drop the blighters quicker. Current critter's finally starting to get into the realm of stuff that can keep up with the god mode damage output of rapid fire/multi-proc % max HP damage, but it's taking end game calamity stuff to do it.

... incidentally, did you know the rag fight is on a timer? It's a fairly long one (I think maybe a full day or somethin'), but if you don't have enough dakka to take them fast enough (or don't notice the respawn gimmick with the initial trio), but can survive that long, you still die. It's not as much of a bastard as calamity's final boss (which has scaling damage, and an anti-cheat method of killing you if you happen to get hit 30 times over the course of the fight regardless as to if you otherwise survive it or not, among a couple other things), but it's definitely a pain.

... well alright then. Previous magnetic sphere line has been kinda' sketchy. The vanilla is the vanilla and it's alright, its first upgrade is sorta' that but a shotgun and it's passable, but 780k HP mothrons don't need okay and passable they need five digit DPS and screen destroying.

And damn. The voltaic climax is five digit DPS and screen destroying. Emits a circle of eight upgunned (current numbers are 202 magic damage, with mythical and some accessories) magnet spheres wherever you're pointing the cursor. Which is, like. Okay? Except A, the cool down is fairly low, B, the individual attacks do not interfere with each other and anything else you might be doing, and C, the only limit to how many you can have out is how fast you fire.

One shot is pretty kickass, but it's maybe not that impressive. I just checked, and at least with my current stuff, if you can maintain the mana, you can shoot ten times before the first shot starts to fade. Which is to say a potentially sustained eighty upgunned magnetic spheres blowing the hell out of anything they can reach or that runs into them.

This. Is the good shit.

... also it's freakishly good at proccing the ethereal talisman's instakill normal enemy effect. Just lays absolute waste to anything that isn't immune to it. This is nice.

Last gift is kinda' helpful. Only thing sketchy about it is that super-forge from calamity seems to do most of the same things.

Vis a vis ranged weapons (and everything else, for that matter), the raw damage is very, very often not terribly telling, doubly so as you get into the later game stuff. Fiddling about with junk I regularly see stuff with sub-100 damage out DPS something with >300, even with similar attack speeds and whatnot. Exactly how the weapon's projectiles (and how many they produce) work can make things work all sorts of weird so far as comparison shopping, so to speak, goes.

Speaking of that, though, it's possibly worth noting the devourer of gods drops a stardust dragon upgrade (mechaworm staff or somethin' like that). The amusing thing is the listed damage is less (pretty substantially; mythical upgrade is 47 with my current kit, stardust 70 something), but the damage per second is both massively higher and doesn't screw over stuff like the solar eruption. Reason being it stacks with pretty much whatever, seemingly including its own segments, so when it curls up in something or another it hurts. Actually one of the higher damage summons I've seen so far, despite the sub fifty number on the face of it, even compared to stuff with a listed damage in the 300s and up.

So here's a stupid question only partially related to the current conversation from someone who does not remember any of their preschool bible lessons.  In a lot of art like that I see satan with a crown but I never see it ON his head, it's always hovering above his head, or on his horns instead.  Is there some significance to that?
The on horns bit seems pretty straightforward, 'tis a revelations thing. One of the depictions mention crowns being worn like that, so you see more.

Floating one's sketchier, though. Probably just a halo thing in most cases, with an actual crown coming in for ol' scratch 'cause of the various royalty related cruft built up around the critter. Floating crowns in general are also fairly throwaway divinity symbols, either of or of relation to (which a devil depiction could be either, really). Can't remember and couldn't find anything more specific than that.

Rapid pokeabout suggests there's also some kind of habit/artistic flare/etc. of putting floating crowns (or other simple-ish 2D objects) above whatever, mostly just as a contrast to a more detailed work or as a bit of cheek.

Like, I'll repeat. Isp added a little. But there was no problem proving domestic abuse happened in the case that ultimately got him discharged. Dude cracked his ex-wife's kid's skull, among whatever else went on.

Pretty sure tex actually has a flat ban for folks with domestic abuse convictions, or something along those lines. Enforcement is as fucked as it ever is when chunks of the country's political actors are fairly actively trying to sabotage it, of course.

6523
Guy was apparently kicked out the military for domestic abuse (that included cracking a stepkid's skull, or something like that).* Haven't seen a solid yea or any on the specifics meaning he was later barred from firearm ownership, but it is possible to get kicked out the military hard enough a lifetime ownership ban is nailed to your ass when they boot it, and he seems to have been in the general region of behavior what earns it.

Anyway. So far as prior indications of violence go, least if what's turned up so far is accurate those were definitely there.

* The particulars are a little more fiddly than that, but it's an accurate enough gist.

Ah, re: the rag drop resource minion, iirc it's actually pretty beastly, even taking two slots. Also seem to recall there being some behavior or another that turned me off of it, though. Was in an earlier only-thorium run, too, so can't say how well it functions in the current environment.

Though checking I was thinking about the ember staff, not the nebula reflection, which wouldn't help if you're still trying to kill rag. Never did try that one out, but I'd definitely say check it if you have the resources. Better than stardust would depend on exactly how their projectiles work...

All that said, the energy staff is hella' sexy. Lasts longer than most sentries, too, and has good lock on range and fire rate, even if the shots don't home or pierce walls. Enough to tip the balance with the rag fight, I'unno, but it's definitely good.

The lesser jackass ore* is pretty easy to find both in the jungle, and apparently the spirit ice, if you're hunting it. For reasons I never bothered trying to figure out, apparently bloom slimes (that drop a good dozen or better pieces of ore) like to spawn in the spirit ice. Sees a pretty decent way to build up more than you'll ever need, if for whatever reason you don't feel like digging around the jungle for the stuff.

* Greater jackass ore being perennial. They both take forever to get something able to dig through 'em and particularly with the pink one are bloody everywhere, so for the longest time they're constantly getting in the way if you're digging around. They're jerks.

Perennial's even worse due to the coloration both on the map and on screen, since they're basically identical to certain other ores. Sometimes I dig the damn things out and trash them out of pure spite.
