Indeed, good luck, one says to the only major country in the world this shit happens often enough to be considered common. Great difficulties, so great that apparently more or less everyone else on the planet not effectively or explicitly a failed state seem to manage pretty well at.

Ah well. Still two months left for 2017 to break another mass shooting record. Maybe we can hit a triple.

Note to others: When fog has reduced visibility on the road to a distance shorter than that between two telephone poles, turn on your lights. Why do you not turn on your lights, people on the road where fog is heavy enough you can't see two car lengths ahead of you.

... it's been a while since I've drove in those conditions. I think I had forgotten this was a thing. Would have been nice to not have been reminded.

And yeah, no antifa (weirdly, iPad autocorrected that to antifagosta, even though that's not a word in its database. Or maybe it was Antofagasta, either way, spellcheck is wierd sometimes) apocalypse, not even a mention of violence happening. The alt-right is just so trapped in its bubble of conspiracies.
Swear to fornication if this antifa bullshit takes the route of more normal apocalypse predictions I'm going to throw things at other things. I don't know what or who at who or what, but if this turns into eschatology style "the nth+1 time we got the day wrong means nothing" shit, I'm going to figure something out.

Maybe better wings? If you don't have the first tier tracers or whatever they are yet, anyway. Think they're somewhere around the moon lord phase, and easily one of the best mobility accessories around (they're basically wings + mod upgrade spectre boots), which can help with not getting pigged on.

Taking down the moon lord'll help to no small extent too, most likely... some really nice stuff you can get with just the stellar junk and luminite (and yes, I'm going to mention the white dwarf set again 'cause that shit be broken*), even beyond the normal vanilla junk.

Minor incidental, actually, since you're coming up on it. It can be worth noting there's some odd interaction with the actually throwing dagger shadow weapon and the beacon of the assassin. For whatever reason, the thing causes the dagger to spit out the occasional extra projectile, kinda' like a normal ranged weapon, it's just a single shot of the dagger's alt fire and can stick on things and everything. Lil' neat, heh. Bit of extra damage and I think at least the extra shot still does the beacon's debuff thing, which is a nice bonus.

*Not actually broken, mind (mostly; I'm pretty sure either the books or the white dwarf proc were what was causing crashes with the storm weaver, so if you're using either when you fight it, keep an eye out), and it does take at least one accessory (and preferably a few more; for whatever reason you can stack up at least one extra throwing book if you wear them in the right order, and the effects stack up just fine) and the armor set, but a fast enough/multi-hitting enough throwing weapon plus that set and the throwing book(s) is just disgusting. You'll understand if you try it, methinks :3

News from the place prior? You looking for that just take Google or something and search by time period, just put something like this January in the To date and leave the from blank. That usually culls most recent news stuff.* Already forgot but I vaguely remember some stuff regarding some (nearby?) school or somethin'. Generally all you find about one caution light towns unless something like this happens or someone takes the (very often rather rampant) corruption too far.

* Most. I'm not really entirely sure how some places end up with articles showing up as from the 90s or somethin' despite being about modern events.

General Discussion / Re: Who here emulates games?
« on: November 05, 2017, 05:55:38 pm »
Probably have better luck with this in Other Games. Also might want to check with toady, though. Strictly speaking emulators tend to be legal (in part, if not whole), but roughly equally strictly speaking a lot of surrounding stuff involved tends to be not. You want to be careful discussing such on the forum, lest you encounter Ser Terms of Service.

That said, your ideas for games and stuff would probably be the best of list of any particular platform/genre you're interested in that has a functional emulator (that your computer can run, anyway). Which is most things up to around the PS2/wii these days for console, PSP/DS for handheld. You're pretty spoiled for choice if you're getting into it for the first time and didn't do much non personal computer gaming in the last couple decades.

I generally recommend poking around to see what games have been translated by unofficial sources, personally. It's not a guarantee, but often enough there's something special about a game if folks are enthusiastic enough about it to go through the pain and effort of translation and hacking their way through a localization.

Yep. Looks like current count is 20-27 dead, somewhere around the same number wounded to some degree, relative to a service that hovered around 50ish (which sounds about right for a small town Baptist joint). Basically would have killed or injured near all of the congregation present. Looks to be the deadliest church shooting in U.S. history, apparently.

Currently wondering why the name sounds familiar, m'self. Been in east-ish Texas visiting sorta' family (cousin's wife-ish thing by marriage's parents) before, but it's been a long damn time and I don't remember exactly where it was, bleh. More than one something- springs in places I'm more familiar with, which is probably what's causing it.

That feeling when you gen a world and tunnel your way up and down the entire jungle biome looking for feral claws, and don't find any. Gorram game, fine, I'll fish up your damned jungle crates. Jerk.

Just about every time I see the name of this thread, I initially misread the thing as "Incestellar". Whoever did that was a cruel, cruel person.

Yeaah, post moon lord some things open up. Luminite's all you need for the white dwarf set, ferex, and if you care to leverage that (plus the throwing books), you can see a pretty significant spike in damage output. Fair bit of other stuff, too, really...

... also yeah, don't forget the ravager changes later on, once you take down providence. And by changes, I mean each claw gets 400k hp :V

Total HP goes from 129k to 1.99 million. Fortunately, it looks like the only thing you gain from it is the expert item and blood-whatever. Questionable whether the item's better or as good as the flesh totem, which is pre-providence and halves contact damage. Basically saying farm it for the staff, totem, and the other thing (which you probably never want to use unless you're feeling suicidal) before you kill providence, heh.

ok forget that. that fucking pig does insane damage, what the fuck was that, not even half health.
It was a later game revengence boss, ehehe. Don't get hit. Ever. Current critter's now idling around 900 HP, 140-ish armor, some degree of damage reduction percentile, halved contact damage when applicable. Still getting one-shot when certain things (the things may be bosses, just sayin') manage to touch me. Usually the crits that do it, but they do it.

It's a really odd sensation to be going shitshitshitshitgtfotheway in terraria when you've frozen your HP closer to a thousand than a hundred, tbh. Ultimately the boss strategies start looking kinda' like this, heh. Good bit like that in vanilla, too, but it's not overkill that there's about a half dozen different ways to get revived on fatal damage between these mods.

... also yeah, there's a reason I've been babbling about needing multiple thousands of damage per second, and you're seeing it, heh. You're starting to get into the part of the game where bosses will cheerfully make you chew through a million+ HP. Fortunately (?), the mods also provide the means to do so, to varying degrees.

The plague thing is pretty darn nice, imo. Among other stuff it does like 20-60 damage a tick to everything within a few character's heights worth of space.

... that said, damage wise, if you're up to taking fishron do note that the tsunami (and the monsoon/their final upgrade) is faintly ridiculous, if somewhat inconsistent. They have a % chance to convert a shot into something that causes a water spout where it hits, and those spouts are both pretty sizable and able to stack themselves up. Want to say it's how I killed the profaned god in a reasonable time frame, the first time. Real good stuff, at least until post moon lord and the white dwarf armor set being accessible. Once that happens anything except throwing is mostly a novelty for a good long while, heh.

Fishy's also got a rare drop that's a sword that generates those spouts on hit, too, with similar-ish effectiveness. Still less because with, say, the monsoon, you can occasionally get a five 'nado trigger volley of arrows, but better than a lot of stuff and pretty impressive visually.

E: Oh yeah... if you haven't already noticed you can craft truffle worms. 15 glowing mushrooms and a normal worm, iirc. Once you've offed fishron, the worms start being sold (by the dryad, I think), heh.

Yeah, neither the zenith nor its upgrade lasts very long at all. Even though they take a summon slot, it's probably better to consider them as more normal magic weapons. Didn't like 'em, m'self. Want full use out of them you either have to swap back regularly or just use them as your main non-minion weapon.

Also yeah, most of the boss summoning items for vanilla and at least calamity can be bought. They're spread between the witch doctor, dryad, steampunker (iirc, it might be the mechanic), wizard, and confused zombie. Can call in martian attacks once you survive the first one and get the alien NPC moved in (critter also sells some pretty alright ammo, by the by).

At least until some of the later bosses, it's usually a lot less trouble to just buy any extra after the first kill (i think it's first kill, anyway, might be just need to summon for the first time). Some of the later ones it gets kinda' sketchy, as they start costing like 30 plat a pop. Still pretty sustainable (even with indulging a fair bit, I've still ended up breaking 1k plat earlier today), but actually able to put some pressure on your resources.

Downright evil, really. I've been killing calamitas in batches of ten, in between that last post and this one I finished what I'm pretty sure is either the fifth or sixth cycle (i.e. 50th or 60th kill. I have a full 999 stack of those blood stone things, and I've started trashing new ones :V). 10% chance to drop my ass.

Rest of 'em were pretty nice, though. Levi's double nice since you can guarantee it (it's one of the IOU recipes, iirc), but the rest have been sub ten fights or whatev' for the actual bosses. More for the sand/rare sand (the latter took part of a zerg potion, heh), but the cloud was early and easy and none of the rest have been trouble... sometimes even first drop, kindly enough.

But not the chaos stone. Not that freaking upgunned eyeball and friends.

Bright side, I guess. Hypothetical bright side that doesn't actually exist because the recipient is pixels and code and doesn't have a discrete monetary wealth anyway.  Wizard NPC is making hella' bank selling me more of the trio's summoning items. Why, the guy might actually be over .01% of the amount of gold guzzled down by the goblin, which puts 'im massively ahead of every other NPC I have :P

Though 'gain, you should be able to convert life shards into fruit pretty easily. Can save some time if you can kill plantera faster than you can scrounge through the jungle for fruit. Ninja'd, but eh.

In any case, spoilered for size, but.
... for reference, that boss fight is normally a trio at most, discounting some orbiter things one phase has, and while the supporting pair is up the main one is pretty close to invincible. Unfortunately for it, not close enough :V also the white square crap and whatnot is terraria's shaders getting pissy with vista. Annoying, but usually mostly harmless

Also, just FYI, but I may hate you right now. I've killed calamitas about twenty, twenty five times now. Maybe thirty plus, I'unno. Been a lot. No chaos stone. The chaos stone is the last piece I'm missing for the harem rock.
