It would also violate the Geneva Convention on the use of Biological Weapons. As hilarious as fridge-a-pults are, you don't want to get into serious trouble with them (beyond flinging fridges indiscriminately).
Like 51% sure those wouldn't actually apply to a civilian use without political or military intent. Some critter chucks a disease ridden rotbox over a prison wall on a lark and the geneva convention just kinda' looks at 'em and goes, "Not my problem."

... mind, if there's not some sort of state/federal level law it would violate it would only be because no one's been drunk enough to try it, yet, but it'd probably pass GCon muster. Might even manage to not even register as worse than relatively minor misdemeanor, so long as the fridge didn't land on someone or break anything besides itself.

I'd mostly be wondering why he was being so cheerful about putting his kid in a state penitentiary, ha. Think I've said it before, but presidential pardons are actually kinda' real goddamn risky.

Admission and exception of guilt on a federal crime can pretty easily mean there's a whole raft of state level ones that suddenly perk their metaphorical ears up and start paying a great deal of (probably rather unhealthy, for you) attention to what you've been doing. At least from what I understand.

Half seem to recall that if you do it at the wrong time (i.e. pardon crimes done previously but before actual conviction), it can even mean double jeopardy clauses aren't in play and state level prosecutors get to have a field day if they're particularly inclined.

Sidewalks don't deserve that treatment, that's why.

... also the only places nearby with walls worth mention (nearby prisons) also have people with guns in them that would likely not be terribly amused.

Though managing to launch a diseased fridge over a prison wall and get away with it does strike me as an interesting logistical challenge. Have to source and construct whatever sort of siege engine you're intending to use without being noticed or using materials and/or transport that can be tracked. Probably wouldn't be an easy thing to manage, though part of me is now imagining a hillbilly trebuchet technical.

Ah, and yeah. The fridge has been sitting outside for like... weeks. As far as I'm aware. Not open, but if that thing's actually particularly sealed at this point I'd be about six kinds of hella' surprised. Opening it would maybe make it dry out, some? Some of the smell would go. But it'd mostly just lead to the stuff inside having a jolly good time spreading around outside of it, as the current weather (rain and storms pretty much unbroken for the next week or so, plus florida summer) made damn sure it didn't dry out.

For what it's worth, I'm about 70% sure whatever makes it criminal where you are doesn't exist in north florida, mart, heh. Or if it does, it's unenforced out in the boonies to the point it might as well not. If it emitted toxic fumes, I don't think anyone would notice until they killed someone, and might not even then.

There's ways to deal with stuff like that, but by and large the proper way is either get in touch with the garbage folks and see what the hell they do with 'em (and cross fingers, hoping their answer isn't, "Look, just go find some woods to dump it in and stop bothering us."), or haul it off to the nearest garbage dump... which is about an hour off, as far as I'm aware. Recycling center closer, but I honestly don't want to inflict that thing on the people that work there.

Current intent right now is wait until the morning and see if I can get in touch with the closest public waste management facilities, see if they can offer advice even if I'm from a different county. as near as I can tell/recall there isn't a waste management facility in the one I'm in. Iirc the garbage folks haul stuff off to a different one to get rid of junk.

@ smj: Less than not at least, heh. But yeah, it's way younger than the atmo bans.

@ MSH: We could totally transport the thing, actually. It would just fucking ruin whatever was used to move it, and quite possibly flap detritus into the wind as we went down the highway. It's bad enough the suffering that could cause to people behind me isn't even conceptually amusing.

... though yeah, someone trying to put that thing into an actual car my family owns would lead to me committing violence upon them. Not that anything smaller than an SUV or whatev' could fit it.

As a general rule, no matter whether you are on a bike or in a car, driving against the traffic is a BAD idea...
It wasn't until my late teens that I found out the legal direction for a cyclist to be biking was with the traffic. And it took a while to sink in, because the concept of being on a bike and not being able to see the cars moving toward you was effectively suicidal to me. Like, there's mirrors I guess but the ergonomics involved in your average bicycle are not conducive to those things being maximally trivial to look into.

Incidentally, though there's not many bikers in my area, I've definitely found that the ones going against traffic (on the side or just off from the road) are notably less likely to weave into a car lane or something representative of an equal lack of survival instinct. Apparently being able to easily see the nearest approaching vehicle makes you more careful about where your wheels are going or somethin' :V

I would google it but frankly I'm terrified google will give m a description or pictures, and my life would be immensely improved by not witnessing either
That was my first thought, actually. Google is surprisingly unhelpful about what to do with a fridge what insides are encrusted in maggot. Like, there's stuff on what to do if the power died while on vacation and you come back to a week or two's worth of thaw? Plenty of that, but that I already knew how to deal with and have dealt with before. Shit's nasty, but it's easy modo nasty shit in comparison and I couldn't find the right combination of keywords for google-sensei to teach me about 1-life hard mode fridge cleaning.

Didn't think about the whole coolant thing, though. Kinda' assumed anything that might have been in there like that was gone, I think. Explosion could have been bad, heh. On one hand, the specific property might be improved by burning to the ground... good bit of the neighborhood, really.* On the other hand, some of my family are the property's neighbors and I don't dislike them nearly enough for accidental (or "accidental") immolation.

Will see about checking with the nearest hazardous waste handlers, methinks. The CDC website was annoyingly hard to get something useful to pop out. It's almost like someone failing to empty a fridge when it breaks down, and then leaving it in florida heat (inside and outside, iirc) for, like. A month and change. Isn't terribly common.

* And not haha joke funny, I'm talking literally improved value if the building on the land was gone :V

I mean, yeah, if it were up to me I would, indeed, clear out the surroundings of that thing (it's sitting on concrete, so it's somewhat less of a concern) and straight up set it the fuck on fire.

The fridge itself wasn't even working beforehand, though. Motor had crapped out in it or somethin', the house owner just doesn't want to throw out a fridge that's less than a year old and might (have, anyway... less sure, now) been fixable. Cleaning wise, a great deal of water and a gallon or five of bleach would manage it eventually... probably. Maybe. It's worked on stuff of comparable if not nearly as extreme nature. Fire would be much faster. Just giving up on it probably faster again.

Though apparently either whoever had oversight on it then thought it reasonable to not empty the thing out after it stopped working, or someone had the amazing idea of putting anything biological in there at some point after that.

Which is a whole other wtf in itself. I can understand being somewhat unskilled at home maintenance but this is way beyond "somewhat unskilled".

I think the safest thing would be to buy a new fridge...

I mean, would you honestly use that thing even after a thorough cleaning? Then you probably shouldn't make a renter, heh.
What they don't know can only poison them and their loved ones can't hurt them. Also while I wouldn't try to use it, the people calling the ultimate shots on the thing are elderly, stubborn, and increasingly prone to hoarding behavior and a certain disregard for health and safety basics. They would try to use it again. Bloody goddamn hell, they would try to use it again.

Sweet bloody fuck.

Family mentioned wanting some help cleaning out a fridge a former renter had left behind. Spoke like it was a matter of just shifting the thing around, taking a water hose and some bleach to it. Bit of effort but no trouble save for florida heat. When asked, mentioned they hadn't looked inside it yet, but still, talked like it wasn't that big of a deal.

I just went and looked inside of it. God. Fucking. Damn.

I'm pretty sure that is actually the most disgusting thing I have ever seen in person, and there has been some nasty shit encountered in my lifetime. There are bags of something I didn't keep the door open long enough to identify in there. Basically the walls, the door, every available surface inside that fucking thing is covered in maggots and maggot gunk. The inside of that fucking fridge is brown and moving. I'm not going to talk about the smell. I opened that thing, looked for about three seconds and then noped the fuck out, and despite that from the smell alone I'm pretty sure the safest thing to do with that fridge is set it on fire right where it stands.

Bloody goddamn hell. It would appear some monumental fucking idiot decided it was a good idea to stick a fridge still full of shit outside in florida weather, for, like, goddamn weeks. I'm literally wondering if I need to call the CDC or something right now, because holy shit that is a biohazard like goddamn.

No, family member, I love you and I owe you a lot and you're family but fuck this with a cactus. I'll get on that just as soon as we can recruit someone more experienced with cleaning than either of us to help with this thing. Preferably they have medical training of some sort, too. Something clear on how to handle hazardous waste disposal. Because that shit ain't at the level of just cleaning out a bloody fridge.

There's actually been a couple recommended upthread with similar pinball-ish mechanics, if you missed 'em/wanted to see some similar riffs. Forgot their names, though, even though I was one of the ones that recommended one :V

Huh. Undead corpse babies, eh dream brain? Anklebiter is not supposed to be that literal, that capable of flight, possessing that degree of hanging entrails and broken infant limbs, and involve that much blood, bits of hurtling legflesh, and jesus fuck screeching.

Dead babies on the other side of a room are not supposed to make that noise and then start chewing on your precious feetbones. Looks like I'm waking up at half past three in the morning, today ;_;

Worst part is it wasn't even a friggin' nightmare or somethin'. Just dream documentary suddenly deciding to charge head first into holy shit maybe we don't do exposé on the hungry dead what the fuuuuuck territory.

Haven't paid enough attention to know, but even if it's not necessary it can still be nice, right? Most mod work ain't really done 'cause the game's broken or summat, just to make things fancier or offer some different environments to fiddle with.

... though that said, I do seem to recall one version of CBM or another actually being a fairly solid boost to D3. You'd have trouble paying me to go back and play it to find out, mind,* but still. D4 is definitely in better shape on that front than the predecessor, though, imo.

* I think the only thing that's able to get me to go back to D3 when I have access to D4 is that one awesome fungus mod -- Myconos, now that I check again. Quite possibly the most interesting/best put together mostly!freespawn nation mod I've seen for a dominions game, 3 or 4. If anyone ever gets around to porting that thing I'd be tempted to burn Dom 3 in effigy and never look back :P

If I could get around to finding a decent guide to converting a d3 mod, I'd probably just do it myself. Friggin' thing's great.

Darkest Dungeon's pretty nice, so... I guess? Not sure I'd buy it at ten (i be po', takes lower than that to get me to spend money these days, usually), but I would definitely say it's worth that much. There's apparently some modding and whatnot potential to it, though, so the PC version is probably the one you'd rather have, everything else being equal.

E: Or to put it a different way, I doubt you'd regret it at that price, unless there's something hellaciously wrong with the port. You just might not regret it harder with the PC version.

Also there's like a metric vulgarity ton or two of gameplay vids floating around. If you're unsure, check 'em out.

Sean Spicer is dead, long live Sean Milder.
Man, as much as I appreciate it, considering everything I'm not 100% sure that line of joviality is appropriate. Let us avoid any more questionable deaths for the foreseeable ever.

Hey, if we're going to talk about one of history's primary causes of sectarian conflict, it's thematically (if nothing else) appropriate to have multiple threads :V
