Was talking recently, sillies. More recently, anyway. Though there is some shit regard laws and enforcement that would count, now that I think a bit more. One of those vaguely something-like-amusing-but-not things where the anti-control group in the U.S. is also the largest proponent of taking guns away from people and punishing exercising 2nd amendment rights. Guess it is happening, it's just somewhat more concealed.

Gods, yes. It's not the only but almost certainly the largest.

Depends on the denomination, ha. That said, a common thread with a lot of christian sects is that morality is defined as "what God wants", as described by bible, priest, and signs or communication from God or its agents. When they say atheists need God to have morality, they're saying that very, very literally. Shit's straight up definitionally impossible without it being done to follow God's will. Morality in that case, basically, is not what you do, but who you do it for.

And sure, those before the jews or whatever were amoral. Or... non-moral or something. Complete disconnect, not against or lacking. Amoral is close but tends to indicate it's in relation to moral or immoral, and that's not quite what's going on. God will forgive them probably maybe ahaha yeah no poor bastards gonna' burn, according to some interpretations.

Or the reverse, but as far as I'm aware there's not many people under the GOP tent (or anywhere else, for that matter) calling for the population to be disarmed to make it easier to purge the gays (... do they even exist?).

... though there is conflict between "minorities should not be abused" and "no gun control is best". At least with the U.S. situation as things are. Was point, that the stances the dems have actually are correlated on that point, it's just by way of something broader than either specific issue.

Gun control actually kinda' hits on a lot of the democrat planks like that. Most of the conditions it effects disproportionately (poor, minority, low education, unhealthy -- if primarily from the mental angle -- and so on) are also ones dem platform is specifically aimed at first (if not only) and foremost. Other conditions would be better with less or better controlled firearms, firearm issues would be reduced if the rest treated, and either happening faster if both addressed hand in hand. It's... not really disconnected or whathaveyou, is what I'm getting at. Nothing particularly incoherent about it.

there is no real correlation between gay rights and gun rights, for example
Except for most extensively effecting minorities, anyway, and being to a fair extent either way about stopping people from dying. If gun rights weren't putting a lot of people in graves, and wasn't being abused in the specific ways they've came to be (SYG nonsense, stuff overlapping with police abuses, the general criminal use, etc.), it's pretty unlikely they'd be an issue at all for democrats. The correlation isn't the strongest, but it's not an outright anti-correlation like anti-poor sentiments and christianity by any means.

... I don't think I've ever yelled at a TV, actually? Always been kind of an impolite thing to do to other folks in the house.

Though I probably kinda' cheat, there. I've watched like... one or two episodes of anything on a TV in the last five years or so. Before that it was probably another five or ten or something where it was more common, but only because I was rooming with folks at college somewhere in there. NCIS was alright.

Eh, if you're going to argue it's not worth the investment at this time, there's more ground for that. But the practical benefits out of it are definitely rather non-zero. Just about anything that involves doing more up and about in space has practical benefit, if for absolutely no other reason than just because it lets us get more experience and build a better body of knowledge of the risks and best practices involved.

7403
Besides the whole more practical experience in moving things around space thing, the easier access to whatever's in the asteroid whenever we got around to mining it, a platform to test space born resource extraction, probably other stuff 'cause it's not like these have to be single purpose...

7404
*coughs* Amusingly enough, asteroid capture is something that could very, very easily help create self-sustaining settlements on other bodies. Chunk of materials you can relatively easily move around and have in place and ready to go with mostly-space born equipment you bring in yourself or set up ahead of time, as you set things up on the ground? Good stuff.

Be plenty miffed it was someone else, too, though. There hasn't been many reductions in NASA funding et al I've been terribly cheerful about over the last couple decades.

I am against the travel ban, but it was struck down, so no lasting problem. I am for the firing of comet, as he deserved to be fired. I have not researched his conflicts of interest too much, but I will get back to you on that. He's not perfect by any means, but he is doing rather well, I feel.
... the ban hasn't exactly been struck down, though. There's still the SCOTUS going over it to be tried, and every time a judge has suspended the thing, trump & co. have appealed or tried a new one.

You'll have fun with the conflict of interest, though, if you actually bother digging much. Dude's the most openly corrupt president I've seen in my life, ha. And I'm not even saying that from the leftist perspective, that's coming straight from my business and accounting education.

7406
Well yeah. Is what the whole margin of error thing is about, in part, last I paid attention to polling methodology.

Other Games / Re: SALES Thread

Huh. If you didn't notice mention popping up in the free games thread, Fantasy General looks like it's going free at gog for a day or two.

It's a big indicator and about the easiest to track, but other stuff works, too. The issue that causes a good chunk of it is exposure to somewhat more means of analysis than normally encountered in less technical stuff. You can get that outside college, but it ain't near as likely to happen just sorta' by passive osmosis.

7409
... wait, sending military to the area? Were you not aware forces were already there, ori?

E: Ha, though it's not just a matter of liberal, per se. Approval of trump tends to sink as education goes up. Part of that is because more educated folks tend to be more liberal, but not all. Lotta' the shit he's been up to and done previously are pretty transparently terrible on one level or another if you have the experience or knowledge to tell what's involved, and education tends to increase the likelihood of that even if it doesn't change your political inclinations.

All I can say at the moment is I'd really like to stop feeling like I need to bludgeon someone with a ledger every time I look into something this administration is doing. I'd also be less viscerally pissed off it stopped being things a goddamn AS degree accountant can look at and go, "Yo', what in the hell."
