Already got it installed :P

... haven't done it yet, but other than QoL/UI stuff I've got now, I'm also kinda' considering the toybox option that more or less turns off the vancian crap. It's a system I can work with, but I've never liked it, and if you give me an option to not there's pretty strong odds sooner or later I'mma go, "Yeah, sod this mess, just let me throw spells you jerks." There's a restore uses after battle option that's pretty tempting.

E: Though after seeing the cinematic for the nth time, I just realized why that bug dude looks so damn doofy to me. They gave that guy the head a muppet. Blighter is friggin' edgy elmo the bugman, and it has completely destroyed my ability to take their threat seriously.

I've only sorta' noticed that's even a feature, and it certainly wasn't obvious from first impressions, heh. Even after a handful for restarts to look at different classes in action, I still haven't actually seen that pick up prompt in the main campaign, just from short dip into that island thing to see what it meant by roguelike-y. I wasn't sure if it was a feature specific to that DLC or not, tbh.

... it does lessen the nuisance somewhat, but taking advantage of it means you weren't being an obsessive loot goblin, and that's a deeply unsatisfying ask when there's so much loot to loot goblin at. It's not a deal breaker, but it was a "install a handful of mods before you even get through the first area of the game so you can unfuck a poor UI decision" breaker :V

... y'know, that's an explanation that's as reasonable as it is disappointing.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. Not gonna resurrect the dedicated thread just for this - just wanted to say that I picked it up on sale on a whim, having previously dismissed it as just another generic DnD RPG. And it's the most fun I've had with this genre since the original Planescape. It's great. Presentation, writing, characters, the munchkin-y min-maxing, the HoM&M-lite strategy bits, it's all excellent. I've already sunk some 50h into it, and it feels like I'm maybe half-way through the story.
I'd been half eying that for a while, and the sale was... good enough. After most of a couple days to download, I've started it up and fiddled a bit, and...

... I couldn't find an answer from google but maybe one of you folks know. Are velociraptor actually programmed to be first pick of your party to open doors, or has this just been a very unusual string of coincidences? I started a run with one, and so far the plucky blighter has been the one to open every door that I've opened. I can't tell if this is coincidence, deliberate design for velociraptor animal companions, or if I stumbled over some kind of easter egg by naming the thing Clever Girl.

E: Though, I will say, one of my earliest impressions was "Whoever thought having item highlighting not be a toggle in a game this new was a goddamn idiot". Google has informed me some mod or another fixes this staggering oversight in UI design, so now I get to figure out how mods work on this thing :V

Surprisingly not. Dream logic and all it was just assumed to be ordinary horse shenanigens
They do do that sometimes. It's like when they go surfing or bake a cake for the person they're wooing.

So one thing I can't quite seem to pin down because the action always goes too slow when you want it to hurry up, and too fast when you're trying to catch a detail...

Do the effects of summons only work for that type of summon? Like the death cultists have the effect that allies explode in death damage when they die, but does it work with other summons? Similarly, those super expensive Psi summons have a note about triggering your on-hit effects.
The only summons I can think of that cares one whit about what the other types of summons are, are oozes with their related prestige class. The death cultist effect works with any ally, from any source (the biggest problem with it, and why you might have trouble noticing if it's working, is there's a range limitation to how far out the effect will hit). With psychomorphism (that expensive psi summon), the summons and the other part are entirely separate effects; the on-hit thing applies to any ally whatsoever,* the psychomorphs included. Just in general, if the ability does not specify some kind of limitation, there isn't one. Any hit works for effects that specify hit (so projection, psychomorphism propagated attacks, the extra hits from pugilism, whatever), same for attack, same for kill (pointedly, that includes allies you kill!), and so on.

*One intensely powerful combo with that is to just wear one of the summoning weapons (cursed skull, serpent idol, whatever the ice disk spawning one is, opal something) in your main-hand -- if you do that, the summons that spawn from that weapon will be able to also spawn more of themselves with their attacks. If the conditions are right (not enough enemy AoE to stop it from happening), you can fill up 50+ willpower worth of allies in like two turns as the summons self-propagate.

... it's still inferior to mehtar dream stacking for spamming summons, but it's the next best thing, heh.

One of the eternally nice things about cooking, is sometimes you get to have yourself a breakfast of something you can reasonably call "Not biscuits and sorta' gravy". Sorta' gravy I think I've mentioned before, it's... well, it's gravy but not made super well? So it's not quite done correctly, i.e. it's sorta' gravy. Still tastes and eats just fine, it's just a bit less impressive than gravy done right.

Not!biscuits, in this case, is just normal toast :V

It's a very lazy breakfast (the sorta' gravy was leftovers from yesterday's sorta' poutine, which was the effectively-cheeseburger-gravy lathered over french fries), but I get to call it notbiscuits and sortagravy, and that's wonderful :D

Ah, yeah, I went ahead and got the full game somewhere between the initial post and the edit. Forgot to mention that. I'm having a blast with it, but as you noticed game is entirely willing to delete you at times. It's not as bad on 1st cycle, but later ones... I'm up to 9th cycle, and 9th cycle will just straight up murder you if you step in the wrong place if you're not building hyper-tanky or somethin' (and sometimes, it will do it then, too).

Found out what psychonaut does, on a 9th cycle attempt at a low-mobility mass summoner with psychokinesis and psychomorphism. They survived exactly one floor after activating the prestige class :P

Spoiler: game (click to show/hide)

E: changed spoiler title, latest patch lets you see the effects of prestige classes prior to actually ending up with one. Previously, it just gave you a title and how many points worth of powers you needed to activate it, heh. It was a fun bit of discovery, but the new state of things is much, much more reasonable.

Minors can enter legal contracts in the US, actually. There's stipulations to it that means most businesses will not, ever, actually enter them (the kid can drop the contract at will, basically, and be on the hook for more or less nothing, but any non-minors involved has to stick with whatever terms are on the thing), but a contract with a minor is legal and enforceable (if in one direction) in the US, as far as I'm aware.

There's no "USA ID", though. The closest to it is maybe a federal passport, but from a quick check only like a 3rd of the country's population has one of those... or maybe your social security number, but it's not usable as an actual ID in most situations, and there's been significant resistance to it being made into one. Everything else is state level, which means there's >50 different ones. Some have dependent information connected to them, some don't. It's not consistent between states or types of ID.

Like console, far as I'm aware. It's a kentucky fried console.

Real question is if it gets paired down to KC or FC when folks ditch the extra syllables, assuming the thing is ever actually produced. My guess would be KC if it turns out somehow decent, FC if it ends up a failconsole.

I can assure you, you'd have no trouble utilizing them as a paperweight without causing damage to the inverter. Somewhat more risky, but I'd imagine they'd function just as well as a doorstop.

Likely not the only ways to use them together without trouble, either. Get creative, I'm sure you'll find some use for them!

Fourth or fifth run, first win in Path of Achra (demo, which is mostly just the full game from what I can tell). Noticed there was a "punch at long range" ability, and decided I wanted me some of that... and ended up more or less just rolling over absolutely everything. Was pretty great. Major credit to master repulsion (which, among other things, scales my damage with the amount of repulsion buff stacks I have and the Intabah (my armor, which stacks up that buff whenever I deal the right kind of damage), though. Took me straight from "struggling to do enough damage" to "lol everything's dying lmao", ahaha.

Neatest thing about it was personal nostalgia, though -- the very first full win I managed in an Angband varient (Furyband) was basically the exact same archetype, beat the crap out of things at a distance with your mind (except that one was, y'know, a hydra instead of a humanoid). Who'd a thunk, taking the major weakness out of a melee build (i.e. being melee) is apparently a pretty effective thing :V

Spoiler: victory screen (click to show/hide)

E: Following up on that, I have done
Spoiler: something ridiculous (click to show/hide)
Won with a minimalist build, one stat, one power, one item, (mostly) one action. It is. Not how the game is intended to be played, and only barely scraped by in the final fight, but. Won it! Enemies were taking like 6 moves to my one by the end and the run took several hours (normal runs take, like... less than an hour, or something like that, they're usually quick), but that's what the minions were for :P

Eh... it's less an issue with more recent designs, but the big problem with older ones wasn't the chassis, it was exposed bits of metal poking out of it. Those old screw-in printer ports and whatnot. That stuff'd get to cookin' (you). Between things being mostly-usb, and general design improvements, most laptops don't have quite the same potential problem with that sort of thing, heh.

And yeah, I remember that thing. Still no release date!
