Hey, baff said months, not decades. Maybe it's some sort of inverted bell curve.

Probably not, though that may have more to do with pence than paul. Possibly the better question is if ryan would do anything but run screaming into the hills if the presidency actually came for him. From what I recall he never really wanted to be in the position he is, and it's not been treating him all that well. Not 100% sure he'd do anything but say "fuck that" and resign if he was actually due to become POTUS.

... which might be a neat scenario in itself. I can't recall if the position has gone that far down the line before.

Amusingly enough, I actually saw the tail end of that last bit a few minutes ago, walking by a TV. Was on the news, heh.

Though yeah, had mentioned flynn a bit a ways earlier. No links at the time, though, so the extra stuff's appreciated.

It's not even a Christian convention, actually. I transcribe a lot of older hymns to digital for my church, and most of them don't use the capital pronouns.
Pretty much. Jesus is capitalized normally, since it's a proper name, but god... isn't, really. It's kinda' a title, but even that is sorta' eh. The christian god has a (bucketload of) proper name(s), it's just sort of blasphemy (and possibly smite attracting, or something along those lines) to use them. Could probably leave christ uncapitalized, too, really -- it's a noun more than proper noun. Pretty much any name that's been used for the devil, since every one of them isn't an actual name. Probably a bunch of other stuff.

Superfluous capitalization is just one of those religious language things. Not a particularly firm grammatical mandate for it, but feel free to indulge. Anything goes when religion gets involved with grammar, basically.

@Internet thing

Has it already passed? Tbh, I'm still waiting for it to pass before I go 'DOOOOOOOOOM' about it.
I believe it may have.
Again, the thing FD linked to is currently in the house. It passed senate, but that's it, so far.

There's no history of their fall. This is understandable considering that, like most of the original sheikah, the dream whales ate it.

Incidentally, dream whales are my default explanation for any holes in zelda continuity. I find it's astoundingly hard to argue with a blubbery flying blob of infectious solipsism.

Hey, if you're going to blame anyone for not being able to construct buildings that can stand up against genocide, a small scale apocalyptic precursor to a slow boiling full scale one, and a century of occupation by regularly resurrecting incessantly murderous xenocidal beasts and autonomous mobile artillery, it might as well be hylian civilians. What those scum did to the dignity of impossibly durable architecture is an atrocity on par with everything but anything ganon ever did.

... voted down? It passed the senate a few days ago, hit the desk in the house on the 23rd, iirc. Least the bit of bullshittery FD linked to mention of upthread a bit.

his nickname is linkle ahaha

And nah, last I recall immortality is specifically a triforce of power thing, or was at some point earlier in the franchise's existence. Lifespans are pretty inconsistent in hyrule, though, and we've seen even just in this incarnation both age regression (purah) and prevention (link himself) -- and zelda herself was apparently both rather interested in and rather skilled with the techbase that had both happen. Buncha' other stuff sprinkled through the games that could explain it. All sorts of reasons zelda could still be loitering around. Maybe the whale just has a bad case of gas this time around :V

... oh, neat. Just noticed reports claiming white house staff and former transition team members are wiping phone data and destroying paperwork, what's presumed to be in response to the possibility of a subpoena. Seems like there's a questionably reliable possibility that flynn may have been flipped by the FBI and squealed in exchange for leniency, probably mostly in relation to the whole russia thing. Haven't noticed anything particularly concrete about it, but it's looking like there's either some rather embarrassed news networks or one hell of a media hullabaloo coming up in the near future.

... in all seriousness, though, does this discussion even matter in relation to the US? Nuclear is a non-starter for reasons economic (initial investment, mostly) and not, green investment is increasing, coal is dying for multiple reasons, natural gas et al is there, oil is being oil. Comparing efficiencies between something that's not going to be used regardless of its cost and a bunch of other stuff is pretty close to irrelevant, y'know?

Seems to be a handful of things like that, really. Apocrypha jesus is a bit more obviously his father's son, heh. Probably a good chunk of why the stuff's not canon.

Is why no one remembers it, really. It's not an actual biblical story, just one of the mostly discredited bits of at the time contemporary fanfiction :P

Apocrypha, apparently. Pseudo-matthew, chapter 18.
Quote
And having come to a certain cave, and wishing to rest in it, the blessed [8] Mary dismounted from her beast, and sat down with the child Jesus in her bosom. And there were with Joseph three boys, and with Mary a girl, going on the journey along with them. And, lo, suddenly there came forth from the cave many dragons; and when the children saw them, they cried out in great terror. Then Jesus went down from the bosom of His mother, and stood on His feet before the dragons; and they adored Jesus, and thereafter retired. Then was fulfilled that which was said by David the prophet, saying: Praise the Lord from the earth, ye dragons; ye dragons, and all ye deeps [9] And the young child Jesus, walking before them, commanded them to hurt no man. But Mary and Joseph were very much afraid lest the child should be hurt by the dragons. And Jesus said to them: Do not be afraid, and do not consider me to be a little child; for I am and always have been perfect; and all the beasts of the forest must needs be tame before me.

It's cleaner and safer to extract than it's ever been, but it's still fairly dangerous and still pretty dirty. Much of the country is dependent on coal economically though, so talk of banning coal or phasing it out is concerning since there will almost certainly be little to no effort to support those areas who've had the rug pulled out from under them other than 'lel git gud, better get a degree and move somewhere else.'
Hey, there was talk of moving new energy stuff in. Manufacturing related to renewables, R&D stuff, etc. Would still probably mean a fair amount of moving, since basically no one (with investment capability, anyway) wants to be out in the boonies when there ain't nothing out there to dig up, but at least the states wouldn't largely collapse on the economic side of things. Collapse more, at least. Dems at least gave it lip service, and ramping up investment for those sorts of things has been a goal for a while now. Also had upping/improving education in the areas in question (and everywhere else) so getting a degree or tech training and either getting out or bringing something new in was more of an actual possibility.

'Course, the GOP is so far in the opposite direction we could produce a solar panel that fueled entire cities on its own and had pure gold as a waste product and they still wouldn't put any support behind it, and their general stance on education basically reads "sell it", with nothing else on the board besides that. Most politicians that are pro-coal without reservation are more or less sending those areas up the river, heh.

That said, haven't paid all that much attention, but last I paid any what I recall is that coal extraction is kinda' starting to trail off, on top of all the usual stuff that means more production but less workers. Still a lot of it out there, but the junk's finite and the population ain't. The coal counties that haven't already been screwed by companies having ran out of stuff to dig up and leaving are on a time table, and any future relying on those industries isn't a future at all. Places needed to start transitioning like two or three decades ago, but they didn't. Options going forward are going to rapidly winnow down to get welfare, get out, or get fucked, and no amount of pro-coal sentiment or support is going to change that. Which is kinda' unfortunate, to rather massively understate things for the poor bastards.
