Yeah, even if moral isn't an issue HP routing still is, though I forget the exact details. Moral of the story is to make sure your army isn't made entirely of sacrificial chaff, heh. Or at least that it's using the body wall to let it kill things fast enough it doesn't become an issue.

I'm fairly sure schiff would have liked that, too. Probably don't want to go blaming all groups involved when only one of them is actually doing what you're concerned about. Takes at least two to rise above, et al.

Though re: trump financial entanglements, noticed a claim floating around that part (most?) of the reason trump's been going hard for the AHCA is because the thing would be netting him a nice two million and change dollar tax credit. Anyone noticed confirmation of some sort on that? Being willing to push for killing healthcare for ~twenty four million citizens for a 2m check would be a hell of a thing. That's, what, putting a price tag of around a twelfth of a dollar per head on american lives and health? Always "nice" to have a politician do something that has an implied message saying I'm worth less than a dime to them :V

Transparent is a thing, and a thing that doesn't require the vileness that is not!darkling.

Though just for the record, if that's actually true, please take a moment to leave instructors as to how you're posting on the net. I'm sure that would be some kind of major scientific advance if we had replicable means of communicating with the undead.

Seem to remember it being kinda' helpful if stuff's trying to boil over, though. Might have been butter or something, I'unno. Memory's very fuzzy as to exactly what the substance was, but there is one (well, probably more than one, but whatever). Water Liquid trying to boil it's frothy self out of the pot, you just toss a little in and it calms down a bit, at least for long enough to adjust temperatures.

... in any case, always a good idea to have easy access to a good amount of salt when you're cooking. Seasoning aside, the stuff's pretty good for putting out kitchen fires.

I mean, if it's been done, lemme know. I mean, the idea sounds shit and could result in Mary Sue-ish 'i wish i was normal instead of badass' but whatever :P
Utterly and completely forgot names, but I've definitely ran into a handful of things like that over the years. Want to say someone was running a quest over on sufficient velocity or space battles themed like that at some point in the last year or two. Vaguely remember an old (like, from '02 or somethin', checking) bit of sailor moon fanfiction that indulged a bit... Nuke 'Em Till They Glow was the title, now that I hunt it down. Totally could be misremembering exactly what was happening there, because it's been more than a decade since I last read it, but eh. Actually think it's been getting relatively more common lately, generally as part of some sort of SI hook -- bodyswapped into a character they know is in for some trouble, usually proceeds to act like you might expect from someone with more foreknowledge than competency. Genre savvy character that's taking the piss out of things isn't particularly unknown, either. Uncommon, but not unknown.

... actually, now that I'm thinking on it, I recall a light/web novel with the unlikely title of "An Otome Game's Burikko Villainess Turned into a Magic Otaku" that would probably fit the general concept. Main character gets reincarnated into a rival in a female targeted romance game/dating sim, pretty promptly basically freaks the fuck out and proceeds to spend life doing everything in power to derail the game's plot hooks so she doesn't get exiled/murdered/etc. Surprisingly good read, iirc, unless I'm conflating it with another work with the same story hook. One of those mildly amusing/enjoyable tales where a character is fairly clueless about exactly how their efforts are backfiring.

Against AI... honestly, maybe? Honing your mage usage on the comp can fairly easily teach you some pretty bad habits. Getting to the point you can reach that portion of the game and then working through the rest against humans isn't that bad of an idea.

And ninja'd a bit, but eh.

... I could swear that's been 80% of matches since somewhere around '03, though...

Oh aye, the ACA related stuff would probably be fine (for a given definition of fine and definitely one relative to the previous state of things) if it wasn't for all the active sabotage the GOP has heaped on it and trump & co have continued to pile upon. Hell, it's done as well as it has even with it. Y'gotta' understand smj, "let it fail" is conservative code speak for "continue to do everything in power to dismantle it and then claim it's coming apart on its own." Even when it's not coming apart. Especially when it's not coming apart, ha. Extra specially when it's not coming apart even as you try to undermine its efforts in an attempt to render tens of millions without healthcare worth mention, ahaha.

Though for what it's worth (more than anyone with sane views on healthcare wishes it was), there's more than one way to flay apart our country's healthcare some more. The cat skinning comes later, when people previously only struggling to maintain access start having to look into alternate options for wound care and bandage access is slim :V
Donald Trump gave an interview to TIME. That last passage is pretty interesting.
Quote from: Donald Trump
Hey look, in the mean time, I guess, I can’t be doing so badly, because I’mh president, and you’re not.
Speaking of that, have a gander at it if everything not verifiably true was redacted. Not necessarily that the rest are lies, of course (though it being trump, there was plenty), just that everything blanked out is stuff that can't particularly be proven in one way or another. Dunno how much I'd recommend the rest of the site, but that bit's a hell of a thing. Bonus points being the interview was apparently supposed to be about truth, ha.

Yay?

See, here I thought that was a man in an aviator jacket with goggles pushed up onto his head.

Oops.
It could be, now that I look again, but I figured with the state of their fellow drownees' attire it was a lady wearing a business dress. It'd fit comic trope-y things, too, both with composition and who more often is cast making statements like that.

"It's inhuman," says the drowning woman to the space alien that despite appearances is not even remotely of homo sapiens stock. Well, yes, yes it is. I think by default most things a non-human does is inhuman, really :V

Excellent powers of observation, lady thrown into the sea to die. I'd give you a cookie but I don't think you'd be around long enough to enjoy it, and then I'd be out a delicious cookie to eat while I watch you drown :3

Improbable*. The pres definitely has powers they can leverage into some notable economic shifts, never mind the soft stuff like encouraging the passage of legislation that would stimulate the economy. Even relatively little power has a good bit of heft when you're dealing with that level of power and (conceptually, anyway) influence.

That said, the chances of a GOP politician, never mind it being trump, actually using those powers to enact things that would cause an economic uptick is... slim. Most of what can manage that involves rather liberal-aligned policy or an increase in domestic government spending, both of which aren't exactly terribly encouraged among the right-aligned political sphere these days.

Pretty sure I actually linked to that... probably a dozen pages or so back, at this point :P

Good to see it's still being updated, though.

Hey, it'd be at least a few months before an impeachment even started getting good steam going, probably. Plenty of time for the veep to do something incriminating, and plenty of people to associate with that'd be happy to encourage it and questionably competent enough to not let something slip. Maybe by that point it'll come to light pence moonlights as putin's concubine and has been funneling billions of federal dollars into foreign coffers in exchange for shirtless horse rides along the sea.

And that's assuming there's just not something or another folks just haven't paid attention to. It's rarely a surprise to find a major-ish political figure had been doing criminal shit on the side, and conservative ones are comparatively prone to it in the US.
