when someone says "country X is known for Y" then that's only a valid observation if it's specific to that country.
N... no, that's not correct. Like, at all. Something being known for something does not necessitate or even particularly insinuate exclusivity. You can apply it to something more innocuous to make that obvious; there's a handful of countries in the world all known for their lumber industries, ferex. That any particular one is known for that, is an entirely valid observation.

Yah, even as someone that doesn't eat much pasta (I loath the taste of onions, which are in every goddamn tomato sauce in existence, but haven't reached the point of caring enough to make my own stuff), not boiling the sauce is a pretty good rule of thumb for cooking the stuff.

There's probably youtube videos or whatev' out there showing the better way to cook the sauce. Might consider hunting some down and showing them to whoever's doing the cooking. Or take over the sauce prep duties or somethin'.

Sure you can! It'll just be wrong.

Is... isn't rooting both sides to remove the powers simplification? I'm probably missing something 'cause the picture was bugger off huge on this computer and I didn't look at it so I got sod all idea of what y'all are talking about, but rol saying they simplified and then you saying simplified in more words is kinda'...

Ehehe, I'd love to, but the game isn't kind at all to my poor computer's hardware, particularly after the game's progressed a bit. Chug and flatlined CPU abounds. The thought of another player or three getting up to player-y stuff at the same time is mildly terrifying :P

Will say you might want to check out that one big mod in the steam workshop, though. Forget the name, but it's one of the few that's more than cosmetic or minor tweaks. It added some neat stuff, though I can't recall how compatible it is with MP.

Uh. Not even remotely. Does have a similar mechanic but they're very, very different games in just about every other sense. One I was talking about was a platformer where your character was a mech with a gun that could invert gravity, probably from back in the 90s/late 80s. Old NES game, pretty bloody neat for its time. Never can remember what it was called.

8302
Please, please tell me that was an accident.
That what was?

Yeah, iirc they changed the name because for some reason they thought "rape seed oil" sounded bad to customers.
Reasons unknown :V

... though yeah, I've been forgetting rapeseed exists every two or three years for like the last decade or two. Then get reminded of it and am left wondering who named the stuff that and why, for the Nth+1 time.

8303
Canola oil least worst cooking oil.

... though I just realized I have no idea what canola actually is. Turns out it's apparently a product of rapeseed!

Depends on what other thing you're cooking with and what you're cooking, really. How, too. If your potatoes are coming out moldy you're buggering something up. Can't really recall specifics at th'mo', though. I've cut down on fried stuff pretty tremendously over the last decade or two, and didn't personally cook with it much to begin with. Just ate a fair bit of nice stuff when I was younger.

Thaaat said, even down here in the US south we mostly use vegetable oil. Not necessarily olive (tbh, I dislike the taste/etc. olive oil inflicts on food, a lot of the time), but not bacon grease or whathaveyou. Save that stuff for special meals :3

Hell, some of it's just stuff people haven't gotten around to doing again. I'd love to see a 2017 ogre battle, or a new game inspired by chaos seed. More games that play hard off that one gravity switching NES platformer I can never remember the name of. All sorts of stuff like that. Prolific as games are, there's still a lot of shit they either haven't touched much or at all. Somewhat less applicable to mods, but the things still easily offer material that just isn't available outside modded games, or doesn't have something else out there of equal or better quality. Just because there's something available elsewhere that a mod does, doesn't mean that something isn't complete shite.

Could swear someone already posted that. Or at least linked to something that used the exactly line "is convinced originated from his communications department".

... regardless, you'd think someone would have told the guy berating the aides and cussing at them is a good way to get sensitive information disclosed to reporters...

Tight pot lid can work better than a lot of things. Caveat being the tight part, and getting it there to begin with. You don't want to involve water in a grease fire basically at all, ever. Beating on it with something or another (rag can work, but maybe something somewhat less flammable -- they make fire-retardant cloth-like stuff for that, iirc) can help. Haven't really tried baking soda. Salt just... works. Dump the junk on it until it stops being fwooshy. Takes a fair bit, but so does baking soda or extinguisher stuff.

And yeah, cooking oil in general. Sometimes animal fat of some sort, sometimes vegetable oil. Proper reaction to it catching fire isn't terribly much different, far as I'm aware.

something something video game screenshots? My desktop background has been a blown up screenie from legend of mana for like... three or four years. Maybe longer. Pixilated as all hell even compared to the original in-game spritework but it doesn't really bother me so *shrugs*

Also there's always zaku. There's some pretty neat wallpaper type stuff involving zakus, iirc.

Depends on what you like to look at, really. Or if you're not like me and ever actually see your desktop for more than a few seconds. If you never really see the desktop backgrounds it starts to matter less.

8309
Both work, apparently, it's that you usually need less salt to put something out, and it's somewhat less likely to catch fire itself. Different mechanics involved. Probably different efficacy for different types of fire, too. Grease ones are definitely salt, but other sorts might do better with baking soda.

Though for what it's worth, it is possible it's china screwing with trump rather than something more substantial. S'just only worth so much, since the problem is the connection itself more than most of what's involved with the issue.
